I've been a customer for a couple years solely due to the convenience of this place being near the Tops market and my place of residence of the time. After I moved a little further away, I remained a customer primarily out of habit. In the past, I've had some push-back for utilizing coupons, and at one point told to go to Tops to acquire one off the receipt. I complied and dropped off my order, then returned to find the door closed and mouthed through the window that they were closed for the day. Bad timing for me, or good timing for them? Not sure. But that experience always stuck with me. A few months back, I was going to write a 1 star review and move on to a new dry cleaners... until I met the manager of this location and the surrounding areas. She was very accommodating to my schedule, and empathetic to me being a student, and acknowledged that I was a long time customer and was put on the VIP list for a discount (No more coupons, awesome!). Now that I've mostly done business with her, my experiences there are very pleasant and courteous. She mitigates any dry cleaning concerns and catches stains I may have overlooked. I wish I could give this place a better review solely on my recent visits, but I can't ignore how things were before. I'll revisit this review sometime in the future if things stay this way!

Then when they were extremely hard to get a hold of and painfully slow at returning calls so that we could negotiate how they were going to reimburse me, I thought to myself "I'm losing confidence in them but I'll give them another chance." Then when I gave them another chance and 2 pairs of pants came back SHRUNKEN, I thought "Take it to Yelp! Warn the others!" So I say to you all: "Find a different dry cleaner -- do not go here with a stitch of clothes you care about!"

I was very impressed by how quickly and expertly he made the necessary pins, marks, and suggestions. When I picked up the dress they had me try it to see whether more modifications were needed. It looked great, however a few dark marks had appeared on the dress since I dropped it off. To fix this, they got it dry cleaned within a few days. Overall it was a great experience!

Ali Gültekin has been a tailor for decades, and his expertise has been perfect in all the work he has done for us. In addition to standard alterations, he has come up with solutions to some specific problems with pieces we brought in, for example fixing some small areas on a camel-hair coat where rough handling had removed the nap. You would never guess it to see the jacket after his repair. I believe he understands all there is to know about clothing, fabric, findings/accessories, and tailoring. His prices are quite reasonable, and he is agreeable to work with.

Second time I wore them I knew I had to have the waist taken in - no belt can unnoticeably cinch in or oversized shirt hide a gap that big. I didn't have any previous experience with Ricky's, but I'm always in this part of town and this job didn't seem too difficult, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try them out. They interacted with me as little as possible - the vibes I got from them had an overtone of 'you're wasting my time' - and their perfunctory approach concerned me. I tried on the pants for them and indicated how much I wanted the waist taken in, but the person helping me used pins to mark a point quite a bit shy of my preference. Even after showing him again how I'd like the waist to fit, I got the feeling that I was being ignored. When I returned to pick them up, it took me a while to catch someone's attention. I wasn't offered the opportunity to try on the pants there to confirm the fit (but I didn't ask, either). Again, the main objective seemed to be to get me out of there as quickly as possible. I tried on the pants at home. As I suspected the waist is still too big, but I can at least wear them now. The workmanship looks good, but if I decide to have them altered again I'm going to look elsewhere. Good points: The turn-around was amazingly fast - I hope they don't sacrifice sleep or fingers to maintain the pace. And they charged approximately nothing for the work (around $15).
