I would go so far as to say being her patient was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a doctor. The Good: -It was easy to make an appointment. They were very accommodating with the times.l and with short notice. - There was a very short wait time; one of the shortest I've experienced at a doctor's office. The front office staff was very nice (that makes a big difference to me). - She took a lot of time talking with me. I didn't feel rushed. The Bad: -There was no physical exam. She listened to my heart (briefly) but I'm used to doctors performing a full physical at my annual check up - feeling my thyroid, lymph nodes, palpating abdomen, checking reflexes, looking in my ears and throat. She didn't do anything except listen to my heart and lungs VERY briefly. - She dismissed my concerns. I told her I was diagnosed with a heart murmur in my twenties and had been under the care of a cardiologist but hadn't been to once since moving to Alabama. She said didn't hear my heart murmur and never referred me to a cardiologist (despite my asking about it). - She doesn't follow recommended guidelines. I asked her about whether or not I should get a colonoscopy and she said she didn't recommend them until a patient turns 50. I reminded her that American Cancer Association guidelines started recommending them at age 45 and she dismissed me saying something like "I don't recommend it until 50 but if you want to do it I'll request one. Your insurance just may not cover it". This worried me because I've had issues with the way she requests tests and not having them covered by insurance so I declined (at this point I knew I wouldn't be back). - This brings me to my biggest issue. The first year I saw her she recommended blood work. None of it was covered by my insurance company. Her office told me it was my job to check with insurance, not theirs. Okay, fair enough but they didn't give me time to check prior to my visit, but I digress. I paid the $300 and learned my lesson (don't trust her to decide which blood work you get). The following year I called my insurance company BEFORE my annual visit, and they told me specifically which tests were covered. I conveyed that information to Dr Patel and she ordered only those tests - EXCEPT she ordered them under the wrong codes. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I called her office three times a month for TEN MONTHS to try to get them to resubmit the proper codes (this info came from the insurance company AND Quest diagnostics who both agreed she submitted the blood work under the wrong codes). In ten months, I received ONE call back from the office manager and he told me he called Quest and dealt with it. He advised me not to pay. When I kept getting bills, I called the OM again and he never returned my calls. I spoke with Question and was told no one from Dr. Patel's office reached out the them. Once again, I just paid the bill. Then I found a better doctor. My husband and I typically see the same doctor (out of convenience). He felt the same way about her lack of a physical exam as I did, and he also ended up having to pay for blood work that was submitted under the wrong codes. We both have new doctors and neither one of us have had issues with blood work since leaving Dr. Patel's office. I wanted to like her. She's got a good personality. I wanted to remain under her care, but there were just too many failures to take a chance with my health.

My friend recommended Dr Patel as a GP. I called to make an appointment. I was "rejected" as a…read morepatient without her knowing anything about me. No explanation was given and they refused to tell me why. This seems extremely rude and unprofessional. But I'm glad since I do not need a physician who has issues. Also a friend of mine (who was accepted) had a bad experience with Dr Patel. I do not recommend her.

I met with Dr. Courtney Gregory and she and her team were great. My visit was almost like a consultation to see how to proceed for the next visit. Once she asked her questions I went down to the 1st floor for labs. The nurse was able to get blood on the first try which is always a plus especially when you have small rolling veins. He would prescribe meds, yet it would take multiple follow up calls to his office over the course of a couple of days for them to submit it to the pharmacy. Rarely would anyone answer the office line, it was mostly an answering machine and calls were hardly ever returned. Definitely not a way to run a medical office! Thankfully my parents found an amazing primary care doctor who actually cares, after Dr. Ricketts seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth for the second time without any notice or follow up.

A very quiet, unassuming practice in the corner of the second floor of a physician's medical…read morebuilding. I'm a new patient for primary care, so I was required to come an hour early to fill out paperwork (the entire visit including new patient paperwork and then bloodwork in the lab after my examination took right around two hours total). There's nothing significant to say about the office--it's your run-of-the-mill doctor's office with fluorescent lighting, a few magazines, and a TV on the wall tuned to HGTV. I was, however, impressed with the level of care. I met the nurse (Nikki) first, and she was very receptive and friendly as she weighed me and took my blood pressure. I waited for about 15 minutes in the examination room before Dr. Looney saw me. He was also great--very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He asked me a lot of questions about my previous doctors and care, and was very attentive as he allowed me to ask all the questions I had for him. After my visit, he led me back to Nikki's station to make my next appointment, and then they sent me off to the lab (the bloodwork is done at Quest Diagnostics, which is a laboratory on the same floor as the doctor's office). I also like the fact that they use MyChart, which is an online portal where you track your exam/test results, bloodwork, prescriptions, and future appointments. This patient portal also allows you to send notes directly to the doctor between visits. Overall, I enjoyed and appreciated this new practice and everyone who worked there. Now that I'm officially in their system, I'm hoping the next visit won't take quite as long.

I've been a patient of this practice for a couple of years now, but I've always seen the nurse…read morepractitioner until now. The wait can sometimes be lengthy, even with an appointment. The office is kind of run down looking, but they are supposed to be moving into a new facility any day now. The office staff is normally polite and helpful. Dr Alred herself is soft spoken, patient, and kind. She takes a lot of time with you and gets a thorough history. I was also appreciative of the fact that she answered all of my questions and didn't talk down to me like some doctors have a tendency of doing. They offer in house laboratory services, which is nice than being sent out somewhere else for labs. If you have to call the office for anything, the staff responds to your request in a timely manner.
