I do not recommend for a number of reasons. Look elsewhere for a place for yourself or for family.

I cannot imagine being more pleased with our choice. The Plaza, which is a part of the Querencia complex and provides just about all of the therapy, recovery care, skilled nursing, and late in life care we can imagine, and it is just a walk down a hallway from the main residential part of the community. You are free to do as much or as little as you want here, although there are many programs promoting physical and mental health opportunities that are designed to promote health and long life. The staff, referred to here as 'The Team' are exceptionally friendly and helpful. As new residents we are surprised at how quickly we felt at home here. One of the things we like is that the Querencia is not as large as the units we looked at in California and we have come to know a lot of the other residents here. We immediately became very happy with our choice and thouroughly look forward to spending many years in our new community.

While the staff member conducted their duties with a surface-level professionalism, their tone and behavior were condescending , dismissive, and bordered on openly rude. At one point in the conversation she stated "How did you even get in here?". It's important to mention there was one man sitting at the front desk when I checked in on the tablet, She of course wasn't. What concerned me most, however, were the subtle but unmistakable racial undertones in the interactions--particularly in the difference between how I was treated compared to the other guest.

And that has been true during 14 months of COVID19 restrictions and a once-in a lifetime winter storm that robbed most of the city of water and power for days. It is remarkable that the Watermark team was able to continue with so little disruption to residents. The current staff earn really high marks for both caring and skill at what they do - even in challenging circumstances. Crises notwithstanding, the Watermark seems to work hard to be a real home for residents on both the Assisted Living and Memory Care sides of the facility. The two program directors are tireless in thinking up an endless array of outings, celebrations, games, lectures and demonstrations for all interests and abilities (e.g. pub night, mystery dinner theater, Jamaican Independence Day with a steel band, Dancing with the Stars, fishing excursion, Lake Austin boat trip to see the eagles and Senior Games athletic competition at UT). There is a lot available every day, but no one is obliged to participate. Shopping and dining outings were scheduled weekly before COVID and there are frequent special events where family and friends are welcome, including live music Happy Hour every Friday. Our loved one was in Memory Care and we have been thrilled to find that it is also about active living and learning and fun! No one is pushed, simply invited to join in at whatever level they can. Our sister was up, dressed and busy every day with games, exercises, and creating things. Moving into Elan/Watermark, after living alone, turned out to be a wonderful life changer. It gave her an instant set of friends, things to do and a reason to get up and stay awake every day. This was much more than we hoped for and it made the last four years of her life very positive, happy ones. Linda B.

Meals are delicious & staff seemed organized when feeding & giving meds to residents in dining room. First full day at Auberge I visited my husband. I located him in the activities room, in his wheelchair w/his head hanging low. He was unresponsive. A staff member approached me & advised he had been in this state for a long time. Nurse was called & he was rushed to the hospital for a 2-day stay. My Husband was given wrong medication which had been discontinued. Auberge advised this was not their fault but the pharmacy's fault. My husband was sent back to Auberge and perished several days later. Heartbroken! I paid over $7000 for the first month. Upon my husband's death, I was advised there will be a refund of some kind. Apparently the Contract I signed states an Additional 2-weeks will be charged when resident dies. My refund will be less than $2000 which means I'm paying over $4000 for a 1-week stay minus the 2 days in hospital. I understand mandatory two weeks charge upon death if resident had a lengthy stay, BUT my husband was there for 7 days (minus the days in hospital cause by, in my opinion, improperly medicating)! Unhappy!! Experience from Friday, 8/30/24 through Friday, 09/06/24.

The best aspect of The Auberge is hands down the staff. Between the Administrative staff and the care givers I know my mom is well cared for and looked after. They are patient, attentive and provide stimulation for all of the residents throughout the day. Her room is always very clean and her hygiene is of upmost importance. Before moving my mom to The Auberge at Bee Cave, she was living in a different Assisted Living community. I struggled with clear communication and follow up because my mom is nonverbal. The staff at The Auberge Bee Cave is very sensitive to this condition. They all are very communicative and anytime there is a question or an incident they call me immediately. It is such a relief knowing that my mom is safe and in a caring community that truly looks after her needs.

Lake Travis Independent has beautiful, modern facilities that are really well kept. It's a great value for the money, provided your parent is actually independent. One of the biggest issues they skirt around during the initial tour is the fact that it's near impossible to get cell phone reception due to how the building is constructed. Your anxiety level skyrocket when you can't text or call them. They offer a wired phone option for an additional $10. I STRONGLY recommend checking your cell reception when you tour the facility. We received zero reception across 3 different phones with 3 different carriers. Staffing was a constant issue while my mother lived here. Certainly part of that was attributable to COVID shortages in the healthcare industry, but I witnessed with my own eyes lines of 10-15 residents waiting for food, a cup of water, or utensils to eat their dinner with. The final issue is the phantom concierge services which are advertised, but essentially unusable. Lake Travis Independent advertises transport to and from medical appointments, but it's only on certain days (Tues & Thurs), only between certain times, and they'll only take residents to certain types of appointments. Multiple tenured residents have standing appointments every week, which means any new residents are basically on their own. If an issue crops up that isn't life threatening, but is more urgent than a basic check up, you won't get any assistance from this place. I do want to shout out a few employees: Custodian Carlos went out of his way multiple times to help both my mother and I, with supplies, advice, and service that were above and beyond. Likewise, Claudette at the front desk was endlessly compassionate and friendly, and was constantly reaching out with updates on my mother's status. Unfortunately there was a different front desk employee that was an absolute nightmare. I've never met a woman that loves snitching at much as this lady. It was very clear she hated her job and hated the residents as well. Just one bad apple in the bunch, but it colors your experience for the worse.

When a place goes on lockdown almost overnight due to a pandemic one wonders how they will be able to 'be there' for their loved ones. LHV made sure that at least one family member was able to see their loved ones inside their apartments. It was a rough year, but the staff at LHV did their best to balance resident safety with family needs. My Aunt and Uncle lived at LHV for many years. They enjoyed the friends they made, the activities they were afforded, the excellent food created right there on the property with excellent chefs and kitchen staff and access to all manner of activities from a Military Ball for resident veterans to trips out an about the Austin area. LGV has Independent Living apartments as well as an attached Assisted Living section for those times when a little extra help is needed. The staff is caring of the residents and very protective - try to get into that place today without a mask.... I highly recommend LHV as a place to set down roots in your later days.

Unless a family member can be there day and night to advocate for your loved one, they may be left sitting in a wet brief, not fed when they require assistance, and isolated behind a closed door. Call buttons often went unanswered, and our loved one was not consistently repositioned or changed in a timely manner. Staffing appeared inadequate on both weekdays and weekends, but the weekends felt like a ghost town. When a medical concern arose, it seemed the immediate response was to send the resident to the hospital instead of first attempting to address the issue in-house. We were then expected to pay approximately $500 per night privately to hold the room during the hospital stay. Otherwise, we were told the resident's belongings could be packed up and the bed released. Families need to ask about this policy and understand the financial consequences in advance. Based on our experience, the facility seemed far more focused on revenue than on attentive, compassionate care or meaningful rehabilitation. We entered with the hope that our loved one would receive consistent care and therapy and regain strength. Instead, we felt we had to monitor every aspect of the care ourselves. Please visit frequently, ask detailed questions, get all financial policies in writing, and do not assume that a beautiful facility guarantees quality care. Beware of the caring and patient demeanor prior to intake - it all falls apart once they have you there. You have 5 days to show that you can do rehab ad then they start charging private pay at $15,500. This is a journey to say the least and I am hopeful that y'all do not have to go through the skilled nursing circus we have been through - they call it "skilled nursing", but they have 1 nurse and the rest are care workers who know very little.
