Veryy dirty place and dirty trays and equipments. The employees were very rude and disrespectful, ESPECIALLY the old one. I walked in and greeted her and she completely ignored me and my wife while giving us dirty looks. If I could give them negative stars for the dirtiness and horrible customer service then I would. They also went and charged me $13 for 2 knafehs when they're literally $5 on the website including the bread, but I never even received my bread with the knafeh. You can count the time from when I first heard about Lebon Sweets, to the time I showed up there for Kanafa, in minutes. Thankfully my wife had left some lights on in her car overnight, and I needed the assistance of AAA. It turns out that the fellow who helped replace my batter was from Lebanon, and naturally we started talking about food. As good as Yelp may be, I had to ask him where he thought the best Kanafa in the region could be found. Lebon Sweets got his full throated approval. It wasn't even close. We shared similar thoughts that some famous regional bakeries which specialize in baklava, make lackluster Kanafa. The same holds true in reverse. Those shops that make great Kanafa may not be where you want to go for baklava. So I came here on a mission. Technically, I was told to visit the location in Dearborn Heights, but this one was closer to my other outing that day, so I found myself in this strip mall bakery that did not look like much. It was also clear that the thing to get here, was the cheese dome, aka the Kanafa Sandwich, aka Kanafa in Kaak, aka carbs stuffed with fat and doused in sugar. Like everyone else here says, it was super delicious. So why only the four stars? Well, I am quite sensitive to smells, especially smells of strong industrial cleaning agents. I keenly understand the importance of a bakery to be clean. All that sugar can attract critters, and nobody wants any critters with their sweets. That said, sadly the smell of the cleaning agent was so intense, even when I went back to the car to eat my treasure, the sesame roll was redolent of cleaner. Obviously that detracted from the experience. That said, I am absolutely going to try the Dearborn Heights location in the hopes that they use a different cleaner... or at least use it at a more dilute strength, so that I may fully enjoy this decadent treat. Also, I have to admit to a modest preference for Kanafa where the syrup is scented with rosewater. This version had a more straight up sugar syrup. Perhaps that is more true-to-form of Lebanese Kanafa. I have no idea. I am still learning about the regional differences of this delightful dessert. Such an authentic Lebanese spot that was super busy from the minute I arrived and left. Right when you walk in, you get warm and delicious smells of all the baked goods. My boyfriend and I got the kanafa which is a melted, cheesy, sweet, and gooey-ness all in a sesame bun. It comes with a sweet syrup which was extremely delicious as well! One of my go to bakeries in Dearborn, for meat pies and Kana-fee. The trip there last weekend was so very disappointing. I requested 6?pieces of Kana-fee and when I got back home to Cleveland , I was so disappointed. They are sweet version of cheese layered with different things like pista, cookie crumbles, etc. served with some syrup. They could be made like a sandwich with that specialty bread. Makes it less sweat. Makes it yummier. They have the Lebanon version and palatine version This place is so humble, sits in the middle of a small strip mall. Kept super clean. This right across from the giant Shatila bakery. But so much better. The staff is super sweet, ;) friendly and inviting. She explained us what each one is and how it's different. This place is a gem. Shatila bakery actually recommended it to us for the kaake, the sesame bread that that knefe comes in. They did not disappoint. They had a mixture of manaeesh (thyme flatbread, meat flatbread, kishik flatbread). They were the best we had in Dearborn. The knefe, though, that was the heart stopper. Then another woman came in and got what is the signature dish. So I had to try both of them The first thing was mamoul med ashta. They had three varieties. All of them were amazing. I bought two. I ate one right away and saw flashes of the homeland before my face. The early mornings with my uncles eating knafe on beirut balconies. Bliss. Best knafeh () that I've had from a store in the U.S. For those of you who are unfamiliar, knafeh is an Arabic sweet made out of sweet cheese (sort of like ricotta), the crunchy pastry knafeh and attar (syrup). It is a must-try dessert. This little shop is tiny and specializes in knafeh, so no ba'laweh or other Arabic sweets. They also make it a bit differently than my family does, because there is only one layer of knafeh. That is to say that it's just one layer of cheese and knafeh on top. It's also na3ameh, meaning it's finely-ground, so not as crunchy as the stuff we make at home. They also put it in a sesame roll, which my mom and I had never tried before (I guess this is the Lebanese way?), and it was DELICIOUS. The sesame next to the sweetness of the knafeh was amazing. The woman who was serving us was also incredibly sweet. When we ordered our knafeh without the sesame roll she insisted upon making us some with the roll so we could taste it - and ended up giving us a huge extra portion! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants some real knafeh. read more

The kaak (bread) that it comes served in just as delicious -- topped with sesame seeds and a crunchy shell, it is the perfect accompaniment to the Lebanese kanafa. There are a few places in Chicago that make a good shot at creating this delicacy, but they do not come close to the experience Lebon Sweets offers. And those who were first timers surely enjoyed it too. It was great next morning too, for breakfast. Just pop it on the George Foreman till its hot and enjoy! Lebon offers many other sweets too. Their traditional Arabic pastries are amazing. They have dates, pistachio, and walnut varieties. I really like all of them. If you request, they will package it for travel. They wrap it in bubble wrap for extra protection (before putting the tray in the box.) Also, the kunafa sandwiches can be packed for travel! But they won't be assembled and are without syrup. The ladies working here are always helpful and kind. They are fast and more than willing to work with you. I love stopping by eveytime we pass through Dearborn.
