I saw that Yosemite Eyewear has 5 stars on google and yelp so drove out to Newton Center. Dmitry helped me right away and I told him what happened. If I have any future issues with my glasses, I'll be sure to come to them.

I was called back to my annual exam. Dr. Marks is a good optometrist, though the store owner is a businessman who I don't find reasonable or concerned about patients. I was told it was an error and she would not see me. I don't believe that; as an employee she is not permitted to see me because of the comments I wrote Jan 2026 about my comments in the store. Maybe one day she will leave and establish her own practice. I hope so.

I've had bad luck finding a great provider in the area, as my past experiences with two providers were subpar. One was extremely disorganized and lacked the ability to follow-up to my concerns. The second provider I went to rushed through the exam (it was maybe 15-20 minutes), and she didn't really seem that interested in her patients - it felt like an exam factory. Dr. Chang at Optimum Vision Care was a complete 180. She actually took the time to discuss with me my questions and provided a high level of care and concern for my eye health. I did not feel like I was being rushed out the door. She had a great bedside manner and sense of humor. I also was confused about an exam fee and got a little bewildered, but Dr. Chang addressed my concerns on that as well. Totally my error in interpreting something and was satisfied with the level of professionalism by the entire staff. I was getting a little frustrated in finding an optometry practice to establish myself as a patient, so I'm happy I found Optimum Vision Care. I'll definitely be back!

But for now, here is that experience: I arrived five minutes early, was greeted professionaly, courteously, and efficently, and given my forms to fill in. My wait in reception was less than ten minutes. In addition to the reception staff, the staff member who took my initial eye measurements was, too. In any case, Dr. Greg Ferrucci is phenomenal and you know fast that he is a real doctor, full on. He asked me the right questions to really learn about my particular eyes both visually and from a pure medical/physical standpoint, and then the first thing he did was find an astigma-related axis difference that apparently will help sharpen my prescription. The best part was when he hooked me up with very comfy disposable contacts for an hour so that I could try on frames and actually see what I was choosing. Literally, this was the first time in my 46 years of wearing glasses that any doctor has offered to help me in this way. It made a huge difference in the ease of picking the right eyeglass frames, and I am looking forward to getting them. On that note, lastly, the opticians there are great.

I have had 4 different incidents with them at the desk. We are a family of 4 that are all patients. We buy all our glasses and contacts through them. They have made a few mistakes long the way but they turn it around and make me feel like I did something wrong. The last incident was deceitful. I didnt want a procedure done. I signed saying that I didn't want it. I was told in the middle of the exam that I qualified for it and it would be free because he saw something on the eyes. I just got a bill for a copayment portion of the test that I was told would be free. They said it was an insurance issue not theirs. They should not be advertising things as free/covered when it isn't. They have an attitude when you ask any questions. Also I was talked down to when I showed up on time for my appointment but was told I was late because I didn't come 15 min early to fill out paperwork (existing patient) that took me 5 min and I waited to be seen for another 15 min. They were actually late!

I got there, and I didn't have to wait. Dr. Brodhead did a thorough exam, and there was no crazy airpuff machine! The doctor is really nice and skilled, the office was clean, and even my copay was less than it normally is! Also, my insurance benefit for contacts has run out for the year, but I need more contacts now. I told Dr. Brodhead I'd like to go to Costco because of their prices, and he wrote me a prescription without even trying to force me to buy contacts from him, which is totally unlike my old doctor! I like when there's no pressure and I can choose the retailer of my lenses! I was sort of considering new glasses, because mine are 6 years old, but he doesn't really have a great selection of glasses (but I'm finding a lot of places don't these days). They explained the procedures as they performed them, gave no judgements or lectures for any information I offered (I'm getting better about sleeping in contacts, I promise), and overall gave me their full attention for the length of my appointment. Mac was similarly a warm and welcoming help in discussing options for contact pricing and glasses, and the front desk staffperson was prompt, friendly, and had truly fantastic eyeliner wings. :) Overall: Gaze is 100% my new go-to eye doctor, no question about it.
