The part that isn't readily apparent when you tour this home-based childcare is that there are no caregivers present who speak English for 99% of the day. This may or may not be an issue for you. But, for small children who are just developing their language skills, it is a challenge. Just as important, my child wasn't able to communicate to the providers: my tummy hurts, he hit me, etc. And, I wasn't able to communicate with them during drop off or pick up: she has been emotional this morning, she didn't sleep well last night. But for the communication challenges, we would have stayed here, but it did not work for us.

Leaving him all day is the hardest, but knowing he has teachers there who genuinely care about how he is and what he is learning makes it so much easier! There are days that I get there to pick him up from school and he says he doesn't want to leave!!! Every teacher is the perfect blend of professional and compassionate and are really great at getting to know your child. We attended a parent-teacher conference and they had put together a whole portfolio of his art and what they'd been learning to show his progression over the time he's been there. Amazing school. She got hit by someone or she hit someone else? An accident report is filled out, and/or you are notified if there is a bigger issue. 3)The teachers are very approachable and WANT you to work with them in helping with your child. You don't just walk in and walk out without discussing the day. (Doesn't make sense if there are rules in one place and not the other...) there is a consistency and fluidity...potty training has been a snap with the positive reinforcement she receives at "school". 4) she is excelling quite beyonce her years and is learning SO MUCH about being social, sharing, being polite, etc. My Father was so impressed with the place he wanted to buy stock in it...too bad they are not publicly traded. My final thought on this place is that they focus on the WHOLE child, and not ignoring them and their play. There is no TV watching! There is Music, creative and structured play, art and sensory projects...all of this will lead up to my daughter being MORE than ready for Kindergarten, when the time comes.

My children are very comfortable with them because most have been there for years. The staff has even seen my kid having a meltdown in the parking lot and came out to help. The negative reviews on here are wildly dramatic and paint an inaccurate portrait. I would never have my kids attend a center I thought to be subpar. If you tour the place, you will get a homey feel from it right away. It was the only place I felt comfortable with when I was touring daycares years ago. And here we are, 5 years later.

They are closing early today because a staff member passed away suddenly and they need "time to grieve as a team". I'm sorry for the loss of your staff member but less than a days notice for families to have to find arrangements or tell their employers that they have to leave work early is beyond ridiculous! We have all lost people in our lives and understand grief but literally needing to conveniently take off half a day early on Halloween sounds a bit suspect to me. Is anyone getting a discount for the time that the daycare is closing for? They have "teacher in service days" where the daycare is closed and you are paying for this time as well! No sterile, cookie-cutter "center" here, it's a loving home setting with fun activities, daily walks to the grade school (my preschooler loves playing on the playground at the big kid's school), a great backyard and location. I also like that it's located on quiet cul-de-sac where the older kids can ride bikes and scooters in nice weather. She provides transportation and after school care for Soos Creek Elementary, Emerald Park Elementary and Little Charger Preschool at Kentridge High so we plan to have our kids with Karen for a good long time.
