Reliable, clean, and organized. We interviewed a lot of other daycares and have to say that Madhu and her staff are attentive, reasonable, and responsive to a degree that many other daycares & nursery schools are not. I am also impressed at the safety / security standards in the building. We toured a few other locations which seemed like over-enrolled wooden labrynths running on post-its and marble notebooks. They seemed chaotic/ potentially dangerous in an emergency or fire. I also like that we can login to the building whenever we want and see what's going on in our kid's classroom. Our son Matteo has been going to Learn and play daycare for over a year. All the staff is very friendly. Everyone always has a smile on their faces. They keep the kids busy with a lot of activities, having an indoor playground and cool small kids village, outdoor playground, arts and crafts. It's so nice when my toddler brings home some art work that he has created there. They even have outdoor water play in their outdoor playground in the summer. They celebrate all the holidays and even have the kids dress up for halloweeen. We had our son in a home daycare with limited hours and find the bigger daycare to be the best with longer hours, and more kids to socialize with. We looked at a few different daycares in the mineola area and found this one to be the best. Ms Madhu does a great job running this location and always makes all the kids and parents feel welcome and part of the Learn and play family. read more

I only toured but really you should see for yourself. The place looks like chaos. There's two classrooms separated by a shelving unit. The kids were running around, and seems to me little to no structure. It's more like babysitting place than somewhere you feel your child will grow educationally. The guide forgot how old my daughter was to show me the proper room she would be residing. And much to my dismay the place needs some updates. It slipped out when I asked about the walls as it looked like they were repainting. there was mention of chips in the paint I did like there indoor play area with town houses, and the rates and hours are very fair, which I give stars for. But I rather pay more for peace of mind and better structure. read more

Learn and Play is a fantastic daycare. It is conveniently located near Mineola train station. The hours of operation are perfect for the working parent/guardian. Learn and Play is open from 630 AM- 700 PM year round and is only closed for federal holidays. (New Years Day, Christmas Day, Memorial Day, Forth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving) The center takes children from newborn up until Pre-K. During the summer there is a summer camp program. The kids go on a trip everyday! For the younger kids during the summer months there are activities also. They participate in water play and in-house trips visit. In house trips include, but aren't limited to: puppet show, magic show, and a DJ. The directors and teachers are nice and welcoming. Everyone that works at Learn and Play is CPR and first aide certified and has been background checked by NYS. All the staff will assure that your child(ren) are safe at all times and will teach them their abcs, shapes, numbers, colors and so much more. They will help potty train as well. Learn and Play provides 4 nutritionally balanced meals a day. Breakfast, AM snack, lunch and PM snack. Milk is served with breakfast and lunch. Juice with AM snack and water with PM snack. All food is child friendly! Learn and Play is a great stepping stone for kindergarten and beyond! read more

DO NOT ENROLL YOUR BABY HERE All around terrible experience. They forcefully "rock" the children under 12 months to sleep in their cribs. They prop bottles for little ones. The ones that can't sit up lay on their backs all day ignored. They feed the designated/labeled food and pumped breast milk to other children. Complete incompetence. They give infants a crown with glued sparkles on it. The afternoon/evening caregivers could care less who your kids is or what his/her name is or how their day went. They give discounts to hospital employees and it's a conflict of interest. They send photos of children to other parents' cell phones. They violate parents' wishes for social media privacy for their children. Worst of all the director Madhu takes zero accountability for any wrong doings...she just talks in tangential circles blaming parents and has zero conflict resolution or social intelligence skills. Let me just start off by saying that if you're planning to have your child in this daycare center or even if your child is already enrolled in the Day Care , you might as well consider that you do not care about the well-being of your children! I believe I started my daughter in this daycare center around May of 2023 and the experience that my daughter has went through and my experience it's quite insane. I am a first time mom and I was very vulnerable in the beginning of understanding how the possess starts to enroll my baby girl. She was 13 months when she started here. My daughter has experience of congestive -itis hands foot and mouth which is common in day cares but to frequently be sick every month, every week, everyday is concerning!!!!!!! She also experienced diaper burns that was so severe to the point that I had to take her to the emergency room. there's no cleaning services in the daycare center which is insane due to the fact that they have more than 10 children's in the room. I believe it's 20 children's per room and they cut the room in half with a book organizer. Every time I picked up my daughter, my daughter always seems like she was stressed to the point that it looked like she was crying on a daily basis. Her eyes were very much swollen. She would cry every single day she would have a lot of mucus all over her face. They wouldn't clean her with any wipes, my daughter diaper supplies were always stolen, the checkout sheets that they give you once you pick up your child they stated that they fed my daughter, but they never fed my daughter her milk. I noticed this because while I was picking up my daughter, I noticed that both of her bottles were full and I stated how come my daughter did not drink her milk. "They stated oh is that her bottle ? Is there a name on it? I didn't even know that was her bottle "and I demonstrated that there was a name on the bottle and she went ahead in front of my face put on the check out sheet that she was. so I went over to the Director and stated to her what had happened and that it's inappropriate that your workers are over here, stating that they fed my daughter when they didn't, and it happened more than once. I understand that there is a desperate to have staff, but we are talking about Children here and I feel like Children should've been taking care of children. These are teenagers that are working in their facility or their early 20s. I feel like there has not been a thorough background check to make sure they have good quality staff to take care of these kids. Furthermore, I asked in the beginning of my tour if they accept any ACS voucher checks they stated that they do that they take any checks that are with their business name so I stated OK I will pay for the first month until the process is settled for the ACS voucher check to make sure that their facility gets paid for my daughter to be there. Unfortunately it took me about three months to get the voucher established to the point that the Day Care center was never registered under ACS registered account to make sure they obtain the voucher check unfortunately I lost about 3000 or $4000 in childcare because the Day Care center was never registered under the ACS voucher check account. Right away. I remove my daughter out of that daycare center. There's clearly a disorganized situation in this facility and I'm so surprised that this Day Care center is still open for so many years. My daughter is in a better Day Care center where it's supported by the DOE system and I couldn't be more than happy that they take voucher checks and they treat my daughter like as if shes their own child! I thank the Lord that he shown me this facility because I was truly worried that I would lose my job because I'd be damned to leave my daughter in this "daycare" of learn and play. read more

My older son just graduated from L&P this past summer, and he was there since April 2010. Our town only has a 2 hour program for pre-school so luckily I took advice from a previous teacher who lives near us (who worked part time at L&P so she can work and take care of her kids too) and kept him there till Kindergarten started. We just had our first parent/teacher conference at the elementary school and we were told that he is ahead of the game, a leader, everyone wants to do what he does, and an amazing helper for class projects! I give all the credit to Learn & Play's teachers and admin since our kids are fortunate enough to be with them almost 10 hours a day. One of our most memorable moments is him explaining the yoga poses that Ms. Madhu does with the class....he still does them every so often! Now our younger son has been there since he was 3 months old which was back in May of 2012. Time sure flies! The amount of stuff that he learns there still amazes me...from their table manners to their please and thank yous, reading, singing, going on the potty, and the list goes on. I wish i can attach a camera to him sometimes just to see his every day activities. All thanks to ALL the wonderful teachers there. I know most parents complain that kids at daycare get sick more often. Yes this might be true but once their little bodies goes through all this (which seems like you're at the doctors office all the time) they end up fighting off germs better when they get older. My first granddaughter started at Learn and Play at 3 months old and 10 years later, our fourth granddaughter is there. This was my first experience with daycare and I was nervous, wondering if anyone could love our girls as much as we do. The teachers at Learn and Play surpassed my expectations, which were very high! From the time the girls were infants until their graduations, to say I was never disappointed is an understatement. They do everything right. The staff members can have issues and the manager will not have a good way of managing it. The manager does not know how to speak to her staff members and belittles them. My son started Learn and Play when he was 2 and was there through Pre-K in 2010 - 2012. He was a difficult boy but the staff did a great job working with his personality and keeping us informed about ways to help him cope with stress and disobedience. He is now a bright and well mannered 2nd grader in public school. No sooner did my son graduate from L&P did my daughter started there. She started at 4 months old in 2013. She was in the most amazing, clean, a cared for newborn room. I never felt worried about leaving her in that facility while I commuted to NYC for work. My Daughter, now 3, has a genuine love for the teachers/staff, she's forming lasting friendships, and most of all she is learning SO MUCH. I regret not sending my son there sooner. Like any daycare you will have over protective parents who blame the daycare for every bump and scrape but lets face it these are kids! They play hard and they get hurt. They serve basic foods that the kids actually enjoy eating. My son still talks about Ms. Carmens Black bean tacos and cheese sandwiches. My daughter will only eat vegetables if they are served by Ms. Carmen. Yes they eat a lot treats because parents bring in cupcakes and munchkins so if you have an issue with your kid eating those things you might not be too happy but I say lighten up and let your kid be a kid! read more

I have 2 children that attended learn and play. I liked the security system that is in place. No one got past the front door unless they belonged there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Madhu, the director is always accommodating and understanding. It's like a family atmosphere. My children loved attending daycare. They always have fun activities, indoor and outdoor playgrounds and a lot of additional summer activities planned. Also the cameras in each room helped give me additional piece of mind that my children were safe. I always recommend learn and play to all new parents. read more

Learn and Play was the start for two of my kids and I regret not going with my gut instinct not to go there. Like most places, there are some wonderful people who are there because they love children and then there are people who are there because they have to be to make money. Unfortunately it is a business and they will do anything to cut costs. They shuffle teachers around constantly so they don't have to pay someone to watch only a few children, so your child never has the stability of someone who knows the level your child is at and the attention they need. If your child has allergies or restrictions, they only take precaution if it's the usual peanuts/tree nuts. One of my children was given something they were not supposed to eat several times because the person watching over them wasn't the usual teacher for the class (or they were shuffling teachers to cut costs). Because the teachers move around so much, if your child has someone watching them that didn't start the day with them, the next person has no idea what your child ate or did (they could read the daily sheets but none of them card to do that), and they take no responsibility for anything going wrong before they showed up. Lastly, the director Madhu is polite when you first meet her to attract business and rude and obnoxious as soon as you have enrolled. Most of the staff do not have any kids of their own and as parents- we know what we were like handling children before our own came along, and how much our view and life changes afterwards. This is the worst day care I have met. My kid was hit on the face(so close to the eye) by another boy. Grandma didn't notice it during the pick up. I found out and went back about 15 minutes later. Teacher denied it and she said that kid pushed my kid without any injury. Incident report was filed after our back, stating bruise wasn't noticed at school. That's it. They promised to separate my kid from that kid but they are still in the same class. A few days later, my kid still told me that kid hit him on the face. I SAW THAT KID HIT ANOTHER KID BY USING A TOY IN THAT DAY CARE. I concerned every kid's safety in that room. They are rude except one teacher. Director told me that IT IS NORMAL behavior for that kid and there are two kids biting in another class. They take no responsibility for anything going wrong even they knew it was wrong. Director refused to transfer my kid to another class and recommend us to transfer to a new day care. Please don't send your children to this day care. There is no safety, no fair, no respect and no responsibility. The philosophy is ignore and money. They charged extra money during the summer for outdoor play, for par-service. read more

Learn and Play was the first home to my 7 week old infant. The front reception and director were very friendly and very welcoming with a tour of the facilities. The area is large and very bright. Although the staff is young, they were very attentive to my son. The front desk calls often to check on the number of babies in the room to make sure they have adequate staff to tend to the needs of the babies. The staff gets to know your kid and also the family that picks them up and they are really friendly. read more

My son loves this place! Everyday they learn things and do different activities. All the staff and teachers are so nice and they really enjoy the kids. My two year old twins have been going to learn and play for almost a year and I am amazed at how much they learn there. They have learned to socialize, follow directions, table manners, potty train and even communicate better to express their needs. My son started with L&P when he was 6 months old. He is now 2. If you're looking for an environment that teaches and makes it a fun place to learn this is the place to send your child. My son counts in English and Spanish thanks to his teacher. He knows his shapes and colors. They worked with us during potty training and they really made it a home away from home for him. He joyously talks about his teachers all the time. There are times when the kids get unruly but it's not because of the facility. Any concerns that I may have, gets addressed. The Director and Assistant Director take the time to hear my concerns, talk to me about policies that are in place and provide suggestions and techniques to help me develop my child.
