Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and our food came out quickly. I ordered a turkey club while my dad got one as well, and unfortunately we both had the same issue. The turkey was on the dry side, and it was sliced much thicker than I personally prefer. I tend to like a thinner deli-style sliced turkey, so it just wasn't my favorite sandwich. My mom ordered one of the salads though, and honestly it looked better than my sandwich. It was loaded with fresh toppings, and she said the ranch was excellent. If I come back, I'd probably skip the sandwich altogether and give one of the salads a try. Overall, I can definitely appreciate what they're going for. The prices are fantastic, honestly unheard of in present day, and that's the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. It's a true local spot, and I wouldn't mind giving it another chance to try something different from the menu.

Parking here can be a bit of a challenge since the stairs limited parking and is located right off of a busy Street. Staff here was absolutely friendly and I had a welcoming atmosphere upon walking in. It had a great menu with plenty of things to choose from. I settled for a wrap and a smoothie. I do believe that the Smoothie was pretty pricey for what you get for such a small cup . They offer a lot when it comes to the restaurant like coaching as well and the owner plays a great part to the the community which is awesome . Wait times were not bad at all, I really did enjoy the food here I did leave feeling very satisfied and full. Overall, I do reccomend visiting this establishment

Gigi's might just be my new little work from home hangout spot!…read more Gigi was the loveliest and you can genuinely tell that she is passionate about what she is doing. We got the protein smoothies that were on special that day with a side of healing seaweed shots. The seaweed shots were very unique and not at all what I expected, but Gigi explained what it was to us and that lead to even more of a conclusion that she knows her stuff! They have some fun products for sale and it looks like they have some small bites as well. I look forward to trying more! One note: every time I've driven by they've either looked closed or empty. Their new hours are on a piece of print out paper taped to their wall, so if they could update their hours in more places and/or have a very visible open sign, that would help! I'd also love to know if the parking in the empty lot next to them is fair game, as parking for their establishment is pretty difficult on such a busy road as Westport.

I had heard they made loose beef cheeseburgers and they are good. I drove to Mugs Up Drive In. I looked for a drive through but realized people parked and waited to be served. I parked near the menu. It's only viewable at the back of Mugs Up. I found it odd., The server walked to my car immediately. I ordered. I waited probably less than five or seven minutes. Out came the food: plain Whiz burger, fried mushrooms, medium root beer. They gave the best root beer anywhere. They make their own. Quickly home. The Whiz burger was phenomenal, considering it was my first cheeseburger in months. The fried mushrooms were the best I had. Root beer was the best. The only regret, I didn't order a black cow which is a root beer float. I'll do that next time. The server was helpful and pleasant. Serving parked vehicles quickly. It was super delicious.

My review is, for me, the burger, its not that good, its just not for me. My expectation was, they had the "IT FACTOR" for the burgers. Something you would have expected from the day, 60/70 years ago. The old larger bun, not biscuit size, grilled burger meat, mine seemed losely patted and steamed and more than pickle, onion and mustard. Maybe thats just the way its always been and others love it. Im glad I went but it is a one stop for me. I wish you another 70 years of continued service and a great icon of Independence, Mo.

The interior is clean and well-decorated. The restaurant also has paintings for sale. Our waitress was very friendly and always smiling!!! For our entrees, I ordered the honey mustard chick'n sammy. It consists of a chick'n patty, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and mayo on ciabatta and served with honey mustard on the side. I ordered mine without the red onion. Believe me when I say that the patty tastes just like chicken, only less dense! The sandwich was delicious! For my side, I ordered the mac and cheese. Once again, you'd never know the difference between vegan mac and cheese vs. regular mac. The macaroni noodles were perfectly cooked and the "cheez" sauce was very creamy and had both black pepper and garlic powder. Garlicky and spicy, one of the best combinations!!! My husband ordered the buffalo mac wrap with a side of tater tots. He loved both of them! I tried the buffalo chick'n and it was very moist and not too overwhelmingly vinegary like you sometimes get when you order something with buffalo sauce on it. I also tried the tater tots and they were perfectly crisp and not greasy at all! Tree Hugger, you have gained two more customers!!! We will definitely be back!!! Keep up the great work!!!

What they don't realize is that I'm still getting my BBQ, just maybe not the places they are thinking of! KC doesn't seem to have many vegan restaurants, but I was determined to support them all during my week-long trip. So I made the drive from downtown to Tree Hugger. Cute little restaurant in a mostly empty shopping center with plenty of parking. I am overwhelmed by the options, but decided to try the BBQ Sandwich made with pulled jackfruit. The rich pulled jackfruit is combined with creamy coleslaw, jalapeños, and fried onion strings. The jackfruit is delicious! Great texture, rich and slightly sweet. The bread is super soft, and the fried onions add a great texture. Unfortunately, to me, the jalapeños were too overpowering, and I didn't think the extra flavor and spice were needed. I would order without them next time. It is also a very heavy dish. I don't think I was prepared for how filling and heavy this dish is. I barely ate half and couldn't eat another bite! But hey, that makes it a great deal if I can get 2 portions out of it. Very friendly staff, and you can tell there's a lot of love put into this restaurant. Extra kudos to the fact that they have compost receptacles!!
