They basically were kinda dry, but I did find the assistant the vet was with very kind. Long curly hair. Very sweet woman. My main qualm was that I was quoted upwards of 4k$ in surgeries. I was a bit gob smacked at the price. I then went to another vet, Clay Road Animal Clinic (a place known for being fair and realistic) and was quoted $550 for the same surgery, and they explained in detail what could be expected. My dog also generally enjoyed their presence more, which I do take into account. They also took more steps to know about what was going on internally, suggesting x-rays, which was very affordable in comparison to elsewhere. While at this Alvin clinic it was more so like a shrugging their shoulders reaction, like what do ya want me to do about it from here. This vet isn't bad by any means, but just not for me. Too expensive for at best average care. And in daunting situations, while of course they are more than willing and upfront to work within your price range, sometimes things are scary and people don't know the next steps and need these things more broken down for them. All I left with after this vet was a printed out information google webpage, and an attempt to upsell (in my opinion) on vaccines. Like I said, just not for me.

We went to visit ailing family members so it wasn't really a fun trip, and with knowing my fur babies were so well taken care of, it was just one less thing to stress about. After talking to her on the phone and then meeting her for the initial consultation, I knew that Gage and Sadie would be in great hands. I filled out the paperwork which was very thorough, which is a good thing. She wants to make sure she knows everything about your animals and how to take care of that...I like that. She came in and we sat down and talked and made sure all questions were asked and answered on both sides; she got a tour of the place and then met the babies. She respected the fact that Gage really just likes to be left alone and that Sadie doesn't mind some petting but isn't really a lovey girl. She also worked with us on the price as all we needed was just the cats fed and watered and checked on and litter boxes cleaned; they are both eight so really don't care about play time, and are pretty anti-social, even for cats. lol The one thing that she does that I love is that she texts after every visit to let you know that all is well (or that one has been naughty *COUGHGAGECOUGH*), and that she has been there; she also sent me a picture one day so I knew my babies were fine. Dr. Evans and his staff are always kind, informative and caring, and don't automatically recommend…read moremultiple hundreds or even thousands of dollars of tests that run up your bill for no good reason, unless of course such a test is justified or you request a particular test, in which case they can oblige, but will tell you if they think it isn't needed. All of my dogs have been exceptionally cared for by Dr. Evans and his assistants and they have fit them in to be seen many times on short to no notice. Dr. Evans is a Texas A&M vet of the highest standard with very expansive experience in the real world and conditions out here in more rural ag/ranching Texas. He most recently did surgery to remove a growth on my Blue Heeler's muzzle, who had a previous history of mast cell tumors being surgically removed with intermediate class II pathology results of malignancy on his torso, but he didn't order a litany of expensive overnighted tests for an eight year old dog, even though Blue Heelers tend to be longer lived dogs than most their size. He also removed a large skin tag from his leg at the same time since he was already going to have him under general anesthesia and didn't even charge for that. The cost was $300 in total. The prior surgery for my Blue Heeler with another Alvin vet clinic on Hwy 35 was over $3500, and they tried to charge me for some supplements off of their own pharma website that were over 300x the price of what they were available for on Amazon, but they told me they were the only place those supplements could be purchased. REALLY? They had to make that extra gouge in profit after I had just had to dip into my retirement savings to pay the lab and surgery bill? My dog didn't even need those supplements and wouldn't eat them anyway. One of the owner vets also verbally berated me on my dog's check-up visit. She blamed me for putting a sterile cotton gauze bandage on the surgical incision as being the cause for having to re-sutured part of the incision at the edge and she is had me shaking and in tears, and I'm not one who easily brought to tears. I have many years of owning dogs and horses and caring for wounds. She wasn't even there when the surgery was done and wasn't there when the post-op instructions were given, which instructed me to protect the suture. Never again will I ever cross that vet clinic's door. I trust Dr. Evans completely. And BTW, my Blue Heeler's surgery on his muzzle and his skin tag on his leg went off without a single hitch, it healed well within a week and it's been over 8 months since then and you can't even feel or see where the sutures were, let alone there being no sign of recurrence of the tumor. You cannot even tell it was ever there. I highly recommend Dr. Evans and his staff for being extremely competent and having the highest standards of honesty and ethics. Those are very valued traits always, but especially in these days of "private equity" vet clinic takeovers by investors who care nothing about our pets or our ability to pay exorbitant prices for the care needed by our beloved animal family members.

After much research we decided to try Ideal. The groomer arrived in the oversized van right on time. He petted and played with Leia in the front yard for a few minutes. She seemed very comfortable with him, she jumped right in the van with him. Three hours later we had a clean, nicely groomed pet again.
