My voice teacher Jade and the staff are amazing! I am so happy that I found this place!

Both of my kids have been taking lessons for a few months now. My daughter has one of their more tenured teachers so she's had her the whole time and absolutely loves her. She has learned so much and even recently added on a voice lesson to her guitar lesson, which is a big deal for her because she is very shy. My son is on his 3rd teacher because two have left for various reasons, but honestly that is just going to happen at any large music studio, and every time he has gotten a new teacher he has liked him even better than the last! So it has all worked out and he is learning a lot. And the front desk staff - WOW. I really don't know how to express how awesome and helpful they are. They truly care about the kids, are very empathetic to kids' and parents' needs and concerns (I honestly do not understand how they have so much patience), always think to message when a makeup spot or better scheduling spot opens up, and are just so genuinely kind, professional and friendly. The service they provide really makes big difference in our experience as parents. read more

My son just turned 5, so I felt he was old enough to get started with music lessons. I scheduled a 30 minute appointment for him with Jess. Her unconventional teaching style kept him captivated the entire piano lesson, and he was excited to go home and practice his new piano skills. We needed to schedule my son's ongoing lessons for week nights, and Jess isn't available outside of weekends, so my son's next appointment was with Rachael Kone. She was exceedingly patient and sweet, but her teaching style was more formal, and it didn't seem to be the right fit for my high-energy child who didn't stay as interested this time around & ended up getting the wiggles halfway through her lesson. So, I called Camille (the business owner, and someone who also has tons of music experience) to ask for assistance getting a piano teacher that would be a good fit for my son during our available times. She said that Anton Maroun would be available during our needed times, and that he is a great teacher for younger students like my son, who might occasionally need the teacher to burst out into a short vocal performance in order to keep them focused on the music. My son's first lesson with Anton will take place this coming week, and I'm excited to see how this works out. Either way, I'm very happy to have found an affordable, local place where the staff is friendly & knowledgeable and there's enough instructors on staff to find the right musical fit for everyone. read more

There is no interview process or trial period to see if the student and teacher are compatable. They assign you with a high school grad to teach your kid. Their prices are ski high as of a real musicians teaching. and since there is not trail class or interview session with the actual teacher you don't know what you will get unless you pay their "SET UP" fee and enroll for 4 session or you have to pay a one class (the interview class that suppose to be free) of over $60!!! This Music studio might fit a toddler or a elementary kid , but not for some one who wants to actually pursue music . read more

Leading Notes Studio is better than any other music school/studio I have been to before (as a kid or for my kids). My kids starting taking lessons and loving it, so I decided to start also. Their free workshops are great. They have fun programs to help encourage kids to practice. Every teacher I have had in a workshop or class has been fantastic. Both my kids (10 & 7) take private piano lessons here. They've taken lessons at other studios and this studio is by far the best one. The lessons are catered towards each child's unique learning style. My 10 year old does her lessons with Gina and since her first lesson she has shown such eagerness to get better. My 7 year old does his lessons with Anton and enjoys his fun, patient, and positive teaching style. The musical ladder system is amazing and both my kids are trying hard to climb the ladder for their next milestone! All four of my kids have had an excellent experience at Leading Note. The instructors are magnificent. Anton (voice), Jason (piano), Frank (voice) and Camille (everything!) have all been fabulous and can handle kids and teens brilliantly. The office is very accommodating (they understand that you have to miss sometimes and they do not charge you so long as you give them notice). And the facilities are terrific. This is NOT a tinpot operation. It's very professional. Leading Note knows how to develop and nurture talent. Their recitals provide valuable performing experience and gives kids a goal to work towards. I can't gush enough about these folks! read more

I wanted to get her some additional instruction and found this place on yelp. She had her first lesson last week with Tara and she absolutely loved it! I teach violin and guitar for Leading Note Studios starting in June of 2022. Of the many years of providing musical instruction in Chicago before I retired to Encinitas, I find Leading Note Studios an exceptional facility of musical instruction. What impresses me the most is such highly qualified instructors whom I have learned much from even after 40 years of teaching music. It is a busy and exciting studio for the very young children to become exposed to music, acquire skills which helps support educational learning and technical ability as well as for the older adults who always wanted to play an instrument or further their musical abilities. We just completed our winter recitals and the self-esteem that is instilled in the students who worked so diligently to perform was so gratifying to see. I cannot put into words how grateful I am that we found Camille and Leading Note Studios! My daughters have been taking piano lessons there for almost 3 years now, and Camille has taught them so much, not only technically and musically (I am a violinist myself), but she has also been such an important influence on their character. Want your kids to LOVE learning music? Want your kids to be excited about music lessons instead of dragging them to lessons? A year ago we decided to start our two sons (ages 8 and 5) in music lessons. My goal as a parent was to find a studio and an instructor who could cultivate a love of learning, and specifically learning music theory and an appreciation for all music. I wanted to see my kids desire to learn fueled by their interest and excitement for music. Leading Note Studios, and specifically our instructor, Matt Gorgas, has BEYOND surpassed my expectations for music lessons. Matt's lessons are engaging, fun and wisely taught. Both of my sons have passionately said how much they LOVE music and literally music lesson day is their favorite day of the week. My sons are both learning to read music, play multiple instruments (piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, and keytar!) and additionally learning about composing music, song writing, and playing together! I'm so impressed with all of the staff at Leading Note. Nancy who runs the front office sends me kind reminders when lessons are coming up and makes it very easy to set up using charter school funds if you're a homeschool family -- Nancy made the whole process super simple for me. Additionally, I need to add that my oldest son has some specific learning/processing needs and challenges and Matt and Leading Note have created his "happy place" (in his words) -- by their patience, kindness, and passion for music. My daughter has been taking piano and voice lessons for over four years at Leading Note and she has LOVED every minute of it. What a GREAT experience! We went through several piano, guitar and voice teachers and had felt stuck before finding our new musical home at Leading Note! We had so many INCREDIBLE INSTRUCTORS to choose from! We decided to take lessons from a few different teachers to find the right fit, but honestly we haven't encountered anyone who wasn't insanely qualified and talented, well as positive, fun, and inspiring! Anton improved my daughter's singing right before my eyes, and Jason expanded her musical world from just classical, to pop, jazz, and blues and also got her interested in songwriting! My daughter loves feeling like she's in the band in the week-long Jazz, Pop and Blues summer camp, and it's wonderful to see the kids grow in their love of music! I've had a wonderful experience here. I take piano from Gina and drums from Mike. Both teachers are fun and patient. I love playing at the studio because it feels like a jam session, but I always learn a lot. In my experience it's a casual, low-pressure place. There's no pressure to keep up a certain level or do any tests/certifications if you don't want to. But I am an adult student, so my experience may be different. Oh, also, I didn't have drums when I started, but they let you take lessons anyway and even help you decide what instrument you need if you decide to stick with it. So you don't need to already have the instrument just to try it out. And they let me come in and practice a bit on their drums, too (I have my own electric drum set now) So don't buy anything until you're sure-- that's not a requirement to start lessons. Parking is easy in the lot, and the waiting area is nice. read more
