What a great week for my little! This was her first all day camp with Coastal. According to her building Emerald City was super cool! She met new friends and loved snack time and lunch because the students got to talk and get to know each other. She liked participating in the themed days for the week! Both of my children have been taking lessons at Coastal for 8 years. My son has worked with David for at least 7 of those years, every single week. I cannot think of a better instructor as far as mentoring skill, encouragement and dedication go. He not only kept my son challenged during this time, but he also kept him motivated by listening and adapting to our family's goal for our children as well as the child's direction. It is not an easy task to meet the needs of the little one and the parents but somehow, he and the Coastal team have risen to the occasion every single time. We can't imagine taking lessons anywhere else. My son is working his way toward mastering his 3rd instrument and my daughter has just switched over to singing from ukulele. The confidence they've helped to developed in my kids is priceless. Love this team! read more

Team Coastal just hit another Grand Slam! Our boys joined the Arts & Music Summer Camp recently and had a blast. Great to be indoors during some hot days but also great for the kids to learn a bit more culture and express themselves through art, dance and song. We are so excited to have found Coastal Music. Our daughter takes singing lessons here and also participated in the Christmas Choir this past fall. Our kids were excited to start learning about music. However, the owner Andy, as well as one of the guitar teachers, David, thought to take away their desire by forcing a switch of instruments to something they didn't want. Not to mention the owners lies to support Coastal Musics cause. Music should be fun and teachers should invest in your children and we shouldn't have to convince these teachers and school to teach our kids. Seems they have lost their luster. Also, beware because they will record your children without acknowledgment. To all families out there know your rights for privacy and give your kids a better form of music at ANY other school. Good luck. ***Update...Andy will do and say anything, even lie, until it comes down to the action of doing it...or in his case, not doing it. No Owner should have to curse and lie to my spouse and mistreat her or talk down to her. Shame on you! Shame on your business! There is no integrity at Coastal music, just disrespect! Costal music studios has a free choir program for the kids and it's so awesome they do that. They also do showcases every so often. This music studio is really a great place. Is located in a decent area oh, and there has always been easy parking. The staff is very nice, and they know what they're talkin about. My brother bought me several hours of singing lessons to try to learn to sing in a better, more healthy way. I have learned so much and Andrea and the rest of the staff are amazing. My classes ran out so I am extending for more classes. It is helping me to sing in a healthier way for my throat and learning many techniques that I never would thought of them my own. The staff were so friendly and put so much effort into making every day a unique and memorable experience. Our daughter asked to go back for the whole summer! We have been going to Coastal Music Studios for more than a year. WE LOVE THEM! We have enrolled in summer camps: ukulele, Disney, Hamilton & making music camp. All were different and all were amazing. We have enrolled in the free community choir for 2 semesters (so far) -- so well organized and wonderful direction of the kids. We are also enrolled in private and group piano lessons weekly -- and once it's available again, we cannot wait to start voice lessons. The critical component that Coastal Music Studios always has, and is of utmost importance to me as a parent, is COMMUNICATION. Their communication style is well thought out and executed professionally and consistently. The instructors and counselors are exceptional. They get to know each and every kid - quirks, sensitivities, individual personalities and they adapt and accommodate. One of the replacements I thought would be hardest to find ended up being the easiest! My son has been playing piano for about 3 years now and so it was super important to find a piano instructor that he would vibe with. For a 9 year old, he is quite picky and particular when it comes to those he learns with and from so I just knew this was gonna be no simple task. 6 months prior to moving I began the search and can I just say, I never knew there was such a draught of male pianist that work with children! I ended up broadening out my search from just in-home lessons to include studios and finally hit the jack pot. Coastal Studios owner offered us a free consultation with Mr. Matthew and I have never seen my son so excited to play piano before. I signed him up that very day and I was shocked to find the pricing comparable to his former in-home lessons. The studio has such a wonderful and organized staff and a warm, open feel to it. It typically takes awhile before I can trust people alone with my son and that just was never even an issue here. The studio has individual sound proof rooms with windows and a comfortable waiting room for parents. They have such an easy communication and rescheduling policy that is managed brilliantly by their office manager. When I asked my son why he preferred Mr. Matt over his last teacher, he, being the kind-hearted softy that he is, said he didn't want to hurt his other teacher's feelings. I promised him I wouldn't tell his former teacher so in keeping with said promise, I won't reveal exactly what he told me. But he did say, "Mr. Matt is so cool! He makes learning fun. He makes me love piano." It's such an amazing feeling to hear my son practicing outside of his routine practices at home and not just when he's on time-out in his room. Admittedly, his playing is one of those dreams I am living vicariously through him, but it's so nice to see him owning the love of playing for himself! read more

When you walk into Coastal Music Studios you feel like family. Andy and Pam the owners are the most wonderful, kind, patient, supportive people and have excellent service. Anytime we need to change dates of his class due to conflicts they go above and beyond to help. They even call other parents to adjust for you. They are flexible and always available. The studio has an open feeling and when you sit inside you definitely get the students and music is what's important. We have been going to Coastal Music almost two years. Our son had no previous lessons and I am blown away at how much he has learned. He especially loves playing in the showcases. He got to be the closing act a couple of times. Which shows you how much he improved in order to be chosen for that spot. Our sons guitar teacher is David and he has such a kind, loving, silly way about him. He really connects with our son. They choose music together, sometimes because our son loves it or maybe because David brought it up. He's played The Beatles, and Leonard Cohen. Best thing though is they encourage Jeremiah to create his own music. He has played two of his own original songs in performances. Our son even picked up the Ukulele and plays it now. He wants to try drums and acoustic guitar next. All of this shows you how Coastal Music fosters passion. I would recommend this family owned studio to everyone. read more

My daughter just finished Coastal's annual ukulele camp. She was quite disappointed -- that it only lasted 3 hours/day! She would have been happy to stay at the studio all day, learning new songs from her awesome teacher, David, and gearing up to pummel him with water balloons at the end of the week. Sophia loved him and learned 2 1/2 songs plus Treble and Bass Clefs in 4 30 min lessons. Andy helped me find a keyboard for her thru listings on Craig's List. My daughter had an amazing week at Coastal Music Studios' Ukelele Camp. She came in not knowing anything and timid to try something new.
