The owner and the one gentleman who worked there are top-notch guys. Spent a lot of time with me talk to me about different guitars why I was there. I learned a lot. I had a lot to think about when I left. I didn't end up purchasing anything then, but when I do, that'll be the place. read more

The best music store for guitars in North County. The store is well-stocked, and staff is knowledgeable. I always try to stop by when I am in town. On my last trip there, I was delighted to find that I could rent a guitar for a month for $60 (I took home a Yamaha Revstar Element - nice playing instrument). read more

Another great experience at Music Mart! Jeff helped us find the perfect acoustic guitar for my son 6 months ago, and here we were today for his first electric. Huge variety, relaxed shopping experience with knowledgable staff, and walked out with an incredible packaged deal. Thanks Jeff! Support local! read more

Music Mart is a an awesome little spot with a bunch of great gear. I typically goto the bigger spots like guitar center, but now I see why folks goto smaller local shops and I will certainly be returning to check out the Martins, keyboards, and other assorted gear. Theyre really helpful and the shop has a chill little vibe... thanks guys! read more

Friendly and helpful. Great store to pick up guitar strings. I'm so happy they've been around for so many years.

We called Music Mart and were immediately met with some of the best customer service we've ever experienced. The owner who answered the phone was incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely cared an absolute standout. He went above and beyond to help us. John, the guitar tech in the back, is another stellar human being knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about his work. It's rare to find service like this anymore. Truly a gem of a place. Now to the logistics: Parking is plenty. Great stock on instruments, ukuleles , guitars, keyboards, percussion. Highly recommend read more

Genuinely the best selection of gear I've come across & The best small business for instruments I've ever shopped at!!!!! If I lived in SD I would come here all the time no doubt. Jeff is the man and he's continued to deliver THE BEST service ever. A lot of the music stores in LA have pretentious and weird people working but there is not a single bad vibe here at music mart. I truly can't express how many fantastic experiences I've had here and how much I recommend it to anyone of any skill level!!! I've only been here a handful of times (only because I live in LA) and will continue to support as long as I'm alive!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!! read more

I recently bought a used Taylor guitar in mint condition from the Music Mart in Solana Beach. The price on the guitar was competitive with others I had seen elsewhere for that model, and the customer service was amazing. The staff answered all my questions and even contacted Taylor to get the specifics on the guitar I had chosen. The guitar came with a case and after getting the guitar home discovered a serious issue with that case. I returned it to the store and they provided me with an excellent alternative one at no cost and with no hassle. My buying experience was terrific. I have recommended the store to family members and suggest that if you are in the market for a new guitar, or high quality used one, to check them out. read more

Very conveniently located 1 block from the freeway. I have bought a couple of guitars at Music Mart the last couple of years. Great selection, and very knowledgeable staff. No pressure to sell me anything, and genuinely interested in what I need in a guitar. They actually recommended a less expensive guitar than the one I came in to look at. After playing 6 candidates, I walked out the door with my new guitar, all in under 30 minutes. Prices are very fair. I also like supporting small businesses whenever possible. Every guitar feels different, and I don't want to take a chance ordering a guitar online. Give this place a visit. Oh yeah, they will answer the phone if you want to see what they have in stock. Thanks again Music Mart. read more

Can't say enough nice things about Jeff and John at Music Mart. Very knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with. They were patient helping me select the best guitar for my needs and were very supportive and helpful after the sale. Music Mart was recommended to me by another north county shop and I am very glad to know they are there. I'll be back. Keep up the great work! read more

Believe the reviews!! This place is a GEM, as is the owner and employees! Special shout-out to Jeff and John for always taking SUPREME care of their customers. They set the gold standard for how all music shops should operate. I love them and I know you'll love them, too . read more

Brought my rattling guitar into the local shop and the fix was something simple but the service was outstanding. They not only fixed it, they restrung the guitar and tuned it including lowering the bridge to bring the strings closer to the frets making it easier to play. As novice guitarist I really appreciate this as I didn't even know it was possible. Extremely reasonable in price as well! read more

This is an Awesome local music shop! I'm new(ish) to Bass and walking into music stores used to feel a bit overwhelming for me. That is not the case here, as the fellas at the shop are welcoming from the start. They have gone out of their way to make me feel comfortable and ensure my gear is set up properly. Super helpful staff, great selection of equipment and supporting a solid local business - What else can you ask for?? Every once in a while... they even have time to jam a few songs together too! Highly recommend!! read more

After shopping the larger music stores for years, I discovered Music Mart, and am a newly devoted customer. Unable to find the Taylor 614ce builders edition I had actively sought, Ken ordered it for me, followed up dilligently with the rep, and delivered the gorgeous instrument. The entire staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Small, but intimate, the store is a treasure trove offering a very complete selection of instruments and accessories. Kudos to the guys for a job well done! Steve Shannon read more

The pickup on my acoustic guitar wasn't working. I took it in and had it restrung, the internal microphone was checked out, everything was ok! Turns out I had a knob on my amplifier cranked down! Lol! They did a great job, the price was very reasonable and they didn't shame me for my stupid mistake! Love this place! read more

Friendly staff, good variety of guitar products and some school band gear. Convenient location

The friendly folks at Music Mart in Solana Beach, are the way things used to be. I first went to Guitar center in San Marcos, primarily because I thought that they would have the most selection of guitars. It was ok, but, they did not have the personal customer service that the people at Music Mart provide. The guys at Music Mart are not on commission, so they are not trying to "sell". They , instead, want to get you into the right instrument for "you", whatever it may be. Roger, advised me about a guitar, that I was really interested in. He said: "This is not for you". I felt a little taken aback, but he was right and by him spending time to learn more about me and my needs, he steered me into the right direction. I got the right guitar for and I couldn't be happier!!! I am elated that I got this great guitar and... that I shopped locally. Kudos to you gentlemen.!! read more

Over the past several years, my family has purchased numerous instruments from the wonderful folks at Music Mart. Geoff and John have consistently provided us with exceptional care. Good group of guys. If you make it a habit of purchasing there, they seem to make a habit of always making it worth your while. In the year that I hv discovered them I have also introduced a few friends to them. We are at 2 guitars, 1 bass, and 2 wireless amps and counting. Also a good place to drop of your guitar for a quick re-stringing if you are feeling particularly lazy. -- It comes back all dialed in and polished... read more

I visit this place each year while vacationing in Cal from Phx. The service here is outstanding. Brought my Martin in today to get John's opinion on how we could lower the string action short of a "neck reset"! John had some great alternatives which turned out to be be fantastic. all for the price of a set of strings. Thank you John! The guitar plays and sounds great again. Be seeing you soon! read more

Nice little family-style store, doesn't have the stock on floor of the big chains but certainly better customer service with a friendly, low pressure atmosphere. Good place to go for sticks, strings, picks, cables etc. I haven't tried to purchase any 'large ticket' items so I can't speak about their price point or ability to secure a variety of brands. I did find an adaptor I was looking for which saved the day and I also picked up a couple of other items at a good price. I will definatley visit again when I'm back in town. \ read more

Thanks, John and Frank from Music Mart. The purchase of my Maton Messiah could not have gone any smoother. Very knowledgeable and helpful with my choice. Guitar is beautiful, case is beautiful and thanks for the setup and truss rod tool. I highly recommended this music store. read more

I've bought two Matons from Music Mart, a TE-1 and later a TE-Personal. John and Frank are both very knowledgeable and being the only Maton dealer on the West coast, knowledgeable about Maton's too. They are a pleasure to deal with and highly recommended. The selection is great and they don't hover over you trying to get a sale. They let you breath and make your own decision. read more

Took my Martin there because after changing the strings on a fairly new guitar, for some reason the action was fairly high and the intonation off a little. Formerly living in LA finding a good guitar tech wasn't that difficult. In north county my options are rather sparse. I decided to try Music Mart due to a friend recommendation. Bottom line is my Martin is back to sounding and playing great, the turnover from drop off to pick up was 1 day (in LA this would of been a month) and the price very fair. Couldn't ask for anything more read more

For a local music shop, Music Mart is great. They have a wide variety of Instruments and musical gear, and also offer lessons. The biggest things that I don't like is the jank-ness of the whole operation. The studio (for lessons) is little more than a closet, and the whole store is a little disorganized. Other than that, it's really great, both in terms of product and staff. read more

Incredible place. Music Mart is a kind group of musicians with fantastic instruments. I have purchased numerous instruments here and tons of gear. I am not a wealthy person, but I feel encouraged and supported at Music Mart and over time have seen how this business supports the community and its customers. I found Music Mart when I needed strings for my Martin D18. Ken was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I started getting interested in their large selection of Taylor guitars....just recently getting back into playing, it was really nice to experience a "no pressure" sales style from Ken--very patient and accommodating. Over a period of 3 visits I walked out with a new guitar after careful consideration and good tips and advice. It helped also to have along someone who was an experienced player and he also had a very positive impression of Music Mart. Ken takes time to work with the customer and pays attention to their musical abilities and needs, guiding them to the right instrument. A great experience, a good small local shop where customers get good attention from folks who know music! I think I found my "go to" Music Store! read more

My son's DW Design snare has been in need of some attention that he's been too busy to give it. So I grabbed it and popped in to Music Mart in SB after calling first. On arriving at the cozy, well-appointed shop where I'd been only for guitar strings and drumsticks and once to try out a lovely D-41, we were met by Roger, a gigging drummer who went ahead and changed the wires and head, replaced a missing post, and tuned it - all right there by the cash register while we waited. And he did that with the good spirit and enthusiasm one would expect from a lifelong musician. Don't expect that treatment from GC or Sam Ash! read more

Let me just say I come from a business that was developed from being all about relationships. Music Mart has far exceeded that exception and has moved to another planet. I feel the most comfortable that anyone could possibly feel dealing all the way across the country. The owner Jerry Olsher's knowledge might not even be surpassed by the manufactures. I've played for over 50 years and I felt like I learned every question I've wanted to ask but, didn't know how to express the question. You guys so totally know your products and how to treat people that I would never go anywhere else. To say you knocked it out of the park is a understatement. Jim read more

I was in the area for the day because my wife had a meeting with some friends, and while I killed a few hours I decided to check this place out. I'm glad I did! There were two gentlemen minding the store, both very helpful and welcoming. They had a great selection of guitars that you can't find every day in typical GC setups (D'angelicos, G&L, Heritage the NICE Yamaha guitars instead of the budget ones) and they were more than happy to help me test out an amp I had been looking for but couldn't find where I live. Long story short I bought the amp from them and if I'm in the area I full intend to visit again. Keep up the good work fellas! read more
