First of all l, what an amazing service we've had with John. He is welcoming, easy to work with and very professional. It was worth all the extra time and money we spent. It was my daughters 18th bday gift to get one of her song produce professionally. John made it possible. He was patient, gave her pointers, even played some parts for her songs and it's now going to be released on itunes, spotify and every where else you can get music. After spending many hours here with a few different projects, my arm would have to be twisted pretty hard to ever even consider going anywhere else. Kris strikes the perfect balance of making sure you're getting your money's worth and providing suggestions on things that can be done for you to attain your ultimate vision. At this point, he honestly feels like a member of the band. Kris is friendly, meticulous, and most importantly (since you're paying by the hour) SUPER efficient. His fingers fly across the mouse and keyboard like you wouldn't believe, making your little solo sound like something otherworldly (if that's the sound you're going for). Like literally, he can do something in 30 seconds that would probably take me an hour in a home studio, and his version would come out 10 times better. If I could give more stars I would because my experience with Kris Towne at Capricorn Records has been the best experience I've had with an audio engineer. He was so patient, meticulous, fast, talented, funny, warm, and over all professional. Did I mention he was fast?! It was fun watching him edit on the daw super fast...things that would take me a lot longer to do on my own. He answered all my questions and really made me feel at home. It's very rare to find an engineer who you hit it off with and actually want to be there like I did with Kris. He made my mixes come to life and did wonders with some of his out-board analog gear. I have OCD and can get a bit obsessive over details, and Kris was able to make sure everything was the way I wanted it to be in the end, no problem. His mastering was hands down the best mastering service I have received from an engineer. I noticed things in my mix that came to life as a result. He got me super excited about these tracks to the point where I really want to show people. I can positively say that we have developed a great friendship as a result with our sessions and can't wait to get back in the studio with him in the future. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Kris Towne and Capricorn Studios. At best, I'm a novice guitarist and singer, but nevertheless had a song I wanted to record. I left a voicemail with Capricorn, and Kris called me back that evening. He explained the recording process in detail and all of the studio's capabilities. He was very reassuring about my lack of experience. He even asked for a phone recording of the song in advance so that he would be prepared for our session. When I arrived for our session a week later (which was in the evening to accommodate my work schedule), Kris was extremely welcoming. He again provided me with a run-through of the process and the studio. He was professional and encouraging during the entire recording process. We sat together in the studio and he welcomed my feedback while making great suggestions for improvement. He really cared about his product and whether I was happy with it. He was efficient with our time and worked diligently to complete the recording in a few hours. Capricorn's prices were very reasonable. I was extremely happy with the final product and Kris's edits to the song. In short, I could not have asked for a better, more fun, more encouraging experience. Recording and mixing with John Joyce at Capricorn Studios has been a great experience. John's skills on the computer are as fast as they could possibly be. With only 2 of us playing the parts for a 6-piece band, John was able to get 3 songs recorded in one 8 hour session. We could have done even more with a full band. John is super easy going and he wants you to end up with the product you envision, so he will be very receptive to your requests. He is also a very talented musician himself, so he is happy to offer additional creative/ musical advice as needed, and will even help you write if you wish! He's very easy to communicate with through the whole mixing process and he'll let you be as hands on as you need to be to get the product you want. The value for your money is exceptional. This studio saved our day. The rates are the highest in town and it's worth every penny. Kris, the studio master is a music producer, editor, vocal coach, etc. in three hours he turned our garbage into gold. I first went to Capricorn studios as a session player for a few different people. I was really impressed by Kris's professionalism and his sense of urgency. It can be a little tense when you go to a studio and pay by the hour and the engineer takes forever to set things up. Kris moves very quickly and efficiently. Took notice of that. Then I also saw that no matter who I was there recording with, he has a way of making that person or group of people feel comfortable and gets the best possible performance out of them.
