This is a great studio for artists, DJs, producers, bands and photography. I'm a working DJ and whenever I need something mastered or recorded I always call Antonio at Global BPM. I've been super satisfied with his mastering, production, and recording. They have a great vocal booth in there, and superior mixing board. I've also taken some DJ lessons from him in the past, and he works with every level from beginner to advanced. More recently I've gotten photos taken at the new photo studio they built and i've been really happy with both shoots. I've updated press shots & modeling shots. During the lock down I decided to get back into DJ'ing. I bought myself a Pioneer controller but was struggling with the software and mixing in general. Once the restrictions were eased I signed up for some lessons from BPM. After only 3 lessons I am making huge progress. I've learned the ins and outs of the hardware & software as well as programming my sets. You also get to learn on professional equipment such as Pioneer CDJ's, Techniques turntables as well as learning to scratch. DJ Yodah has decades of experience and has managed entertainment at a well known Gaslamp venue as well as DJ'd at multiple large festivals. He is an amazing dude with tons of knowledge. My wife has known him for years as a producer and DJ. You will not find a better musical mentor in SD County. THIS place and Antonio are Legit... I started DJ'ing 14 years ago and met Antonio through another DJ that referred him. I paid him to teach me how to DJ and that he did. I learned the art of DJing, the history of what it is to be a real DJ. this was all before all the new technology where most people now can just plug in a computer and play. No, this was learning on RECORDS.. understanding the record and the turntable, how to interact with the crowd and make the music make people dance and love what you are doing. He taught me how to spin EVERYTHING, from top 40 to Motown, to rock to House to EDM, to tribal. He taught me how not to be just a one dimensional DJ, and how to be a technical DJ, focusing on clean transitions and skills. Antonio taught me open format DJing so I then could choose what I wanted to play. This in it self paid for all the lessons. I have now been DJing out in the community and Internationally for over 14 years and have gotten many gigs because I can play anything and read the crowd. Antonio is a professional. Deejaying (or deejaying well I should say) is a lot more complicated than just hitting the play button on an iTunes or Spotify playlist. Things like scratching, beat juggling, beatmatching, and music production aren't things you can easily teach yourself. Even expensive/lengthy online courses can be insufficient to teach you how to DJ well enough to spin at a club. Antonio is a great DJ instructor, super patient and knowledgeable, and with some amazing skills. He has a whole studio set up for learning. Depending on your starting level, he starts you out with all the basics and learning the equipment, and take you through all the various elements of mixing different types of music. He's definitely a "purist" from the DJ perspective, so don't expect to come in and jump straight to serato, because he's going to take the time (for your own benefit) to make sure you know how to beat match and perform some basic mixing on vinyl. When I asked my kids what kind of musical instrument they would like to learn my youngest quickly said a keyboard or guitar, but when my oldest answered he said the DJ tables. The DJ tables? Those aren't exactly an instrument, maybe the drums make sense. He quickly replied no Dad, the ones that make the "weeke week weeke" sound. He's always had some strong opinions on music, and has always gravitated towards house and trance sounds so why not give it a go. But how do you even begin, and where could you possibly find someone willing to try to teach a 10 year old kid how to mix and be a DJ? Fear not, not only have I found someone, but an amazing person with experience, passion, accomplishments, and patience. It took me a while to take up Antonio from GlobalBPM on his offer to give my son a lesson, but I'm so glad I did. I expected my son to be very shy, afraid to try, and be intimidated by the equipment, but the experience was the exact opposite. As you might expect from a full fledged recording studio, the space at the studio is very comfortable, relaxed, and his artwork helps the creative process. Between the environment and Antonio's positive uplifting attitude my son attacked the lesson with excitement. I could see him shedding his fear of failure and growing his confidence throughout the lesson. That was huge. When my son would make a mistake, Antonio found the positive in the mistake, because that's when learning happens. He has a fail-forward attitude that encourages his students to keep trying, and not get discouraged when you don't do something perfectly. NO SYNC BUTTON HERE Antonio doesn't just teach students how to use equipment, he teaches them about the art of DJing. He starts with the basics and made my son do things by ear, trying to encourage him to learn the music, beats, and what to listen for. This completely captivated my son, and he really felt the satisfaction when he was able to beat match and mix his first two songs ever. I started DJ'ing when I was 13 but never new what I was doing until I turned 21 and went to Antonios studio for lessons 10 years ago. Antonio was great at teaching me the important fundamentals of the art and I now own my own DJ company and blessed to say I'm self-employed. Being a DJ and having a son who wants to learn to DJ you become a little picky on who you want to teach your son when patience isn't your strongest trait.
