It saddens me to have to write this review, because I really was impressed the first time with…read moreScott Sherod. Because of the first job (Green Screen) that he worked; I sought him out for a second longer term VFX job. This is where things started to go downhill. Suffice to say, after a couple of months of Special Effects (VFX) jobs, his true nature is now revealed. Apparently, when some jobs draw out too long with multiple revisions, he starts resenting the work. I paid him $400 for the first set of visual effects, and $600 for a larger second set. These were mostly simple taskings such as replacing a boat in a video, or replacing a background, The first set was without incident. The second longer job was the catalyst. (Both jobs were for a low-budget movie.) Sometimes VFX results need to be change for necessity or a new situation. As far as I can tell, the last straw in his frustration was a group of green screen tasks. I requested hi to use a cut/edited for the green screen background changes. He said it was no problem. Apparently, there would be a problem. I did not know that an edited source required larger amounts of effort, due to the multiple short film clips of various actors saying their lines. Scott continued to get more abrasive in his email replies, when his original estimated completion time of one week turned into 3 weeks. I did not complain, when the timeframe was extended; I only asked him once twice for a progress update. Except for a one or two days of multiple emails from him, to confirm details about the tasking, he didn't give offer updated projected completion dates, Finally, he completed the green screen project, however, the sound did not line up. After I brought this to his attention, he resubmitted a revised version with sound repaired. Please note, most of my received job projects were via online, from Google Drive. However, I visited him at his office many times to exchange data files. Because my Wi-Fi, was acting up, I asked to visit him at his office to upload the final version. He replied, "Your wi-fi is fine", when I replied it was problematic, he followed up with "Not my problem, go to Starbucks and use their Wi-Fi!" The following in quotation marks, is Scott Sherod's last email to me. It is shown, in order indicate his attitude toward customers: I reminded him, that I paid $1000 for all his work, and I believed I had a right to return to his office, as I had done very professionally over half a dozen times before. Mon, Oct 30 at 10:49 AM "Let me make this perfectly clear. You will download on your own. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME AT MY STUDIO OR MY SERVICES AGAIN! You have been offensive, insulting and incredibly disrespectful. You do not deserve any further generosity. Download the files and DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN!!! If you do, I will file charges for harassment. All my clients download their files on their own. So be a mature adult, download it as instructed, and DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN!!!" I believe his responses to a client/customer was unprofessional and quite frankly somewhat threatening. You decide, if my opinion of his message is correct. I then asked him to please examples of his claims against me. He declined to do so. In my estimation, I only respectfully cited some specific things that needed to be corrected in his paid for jobs results.

It bothers me that they didnt check or call on me to give me updates unless I called them. Talked to Bill, the owner who sold me everything and he offered some free accessories if I didnt cancel the sale. Its been over a month later and I keep checking on it just to keep getting excuses and a "I gotta sort them out and send them to you". Im sure these guys are nice people but this way of doing business really put me off and I've shared with my producer and fellow filmmakers at Media Arts Center. Purchase from here at your own risk! Unmet deadlines and lackluster communication seem to be the MO.
