I HAVE to tell yall about this INSANELY AWSOME experience (Dr House of Hair) I'm still not over it.!! Its gunna be a long one.
OK, I had VIRGIN NEVER COLORED hair down to my butt, and waited my WHOLE LIFE to get platinum Kim K dream hair.
The situation = another salon absolutely DESTROYED it. The stylist had supposedly been doing hair for 10+ years, but somehow I walked out with fried hair that was yellow, orange, patchy, striped, blotchy literally every color EXCEPT white. My hair was breaking off in chunks. I was traumatized.
Mom thought there was no saving it and wanted to chop ALL my hair into a SHORT PIXIE CUT. I honestly thought I'd never feel girly again.
Then prayer answer #1 happened.
Several people who work at the doctors with my mom go to Leah Styles. One of them had a total botched "Brad Mondo disaster" fixed by her. Seeing their hair is the ONLY reason my mom agreed to let me see another stylist. Otherwise my dad's clippers would've been next.
It was beyond saving. Pieces had melted to my chin and some were only about 3 inches long from my scalp.
So we went to Lea.
First off, THANK GOD she has her own suite because nobody else had to witness my ugly crying like a raccoon that lost a fight.
My mom showing her pixie cuts made me cry even harder.
Lea pulled my mom aside, then came back with bleach and said, "Give me five minutes."
She took ONE tiny piece of hair from the back and said, "This piece is going to fall off, but don't panic. I actually want it to."
Ummm... WHAT?! What do i have to lose.
Sure enough... FIVE MINUTES LATER... it literally melted off.
I thought, "Yep... I'm bald."
But then Lea explained she was testing my hair to find the strongest and weakest spots so she'd know exactly what it could handle. (This is why the nickname Dr House lmao)
Then she showed me pictures of a platinum balayage.
She started explaining hair science like she was a professor and somehow color matched my natural color from old pictures cus my real roots were orange.
WAIT!
You're telling me bleaching my hair AGAIN is actually going to HELP SAVE IT??
Somehow... YES.
My mom lowkey thought this was about to become one of those social media videos where people record themselves doing something nice.
Nope.
Lea never even took a before or after picture. She genuinely cared.
She made my mom a deal before I could hear it in case mom said no, she didnt want to get my hopes up.
"If I melt off the rest of her hair, today is FREE and I'll send her home with everything she needs to recover it."
Not kidding. Special shampoo. Conditioner. 2 types of treatments. 4 styling products. Everything.
If it worked, my mom would pay for the color correction and products.
WHO DOES THAT?! She literally took all the risk because she believed in what she was doing.
AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!
Not only did she save my hair. SHE MADE IT BETTER THAN WHAT I ASKED FOR.
Instead of solid platinum and touch-ups every month, she gave me the prettiest platinum balayage. It looks like it naturally grows out of my head into icy white. Not even a hint of yellow
I got my dream platinum hair, except now I won't need another color appointment for a YEAR because it'll grow out "seemlessly".
Yes, I lost length.
My hair went from butt length to bra-strap length with layers.
But considering we thought I was leaving bald or with a pixie.
I literally cried HAPPY tears when she rinsed everything out.
Honestly I cried off and on the entire appointment until I saw the final result.
AND SHE WAS SO SWEET ABOUT IT.
She kept trying to cheer me up, never made me feel annoying, never judged me, and stayed calm while I had a complete emotional breakdown.
When my mom called the salon that ruined my hair AGAIN to ask for a refund (after already being told no), Lea literally said,
"Give me the phone."
ICONIC.!
She calmly talked for a minute, did some math, and convinced them to do a refund minus the products they used.
That was WAY more than we had been able to get on our own.
She didn't have to do ANY of that.
risk not getting paid.
spend extra time explaining everything.
She didn't have to speak hair-aneze to the other stylist to get our refund.
She definitely didn't have to care as much as she did.
But she did.
You can tell this isn't just a job to her. She genuinely loves what she does, and it shows. She's insanely talented, knowledgeable, patient, and one of the kindest people I've ever met in that "don't mess with my people" kinda way, and honestly... I LOVE THAT.
Thank you for saving the hair I thought I'd never get back, making my dream hair BETTER than I wanted and making it healthy again.
And for putting up with my nonstop ugly crying.
I thought I'd never trust another hairstylist again.
On God, nobody else is EVER touching my hair again except you!
You're stuck with me forever now.
