First time going and will not be back. I booked my daughter a hair cut so she could have her hair done before her engagement photos. When she walked in she was ignored at first. Her stylist was right there and never said anything not even hey will be right with you. Another stylist had to come from around the corner. Then she seemed annoyed the entire time. We showed pictures of what she wants and still didn't cut enough layers. She then asked if she wanted it dried. I have never had a haircut where they don't dry it to see that nothing needs to be fixed. I asked if she had time to style it and she was like it is an extra charge and I said that is fine. She just seemed so annoyed with us. read more

I went to the Blue Door Salon To get a haircut and style. I was so dissatisfied. The technician didn't listen to me. I even showed her a picture of what I wanted. I'll never go back there again. She charged to much for what I got. She didn't want to be there and it showed in my hair. If I would have choose another stylist I may have been satisfied. read more

I'm sorry one person had a bad experience at this salon. Actually, the one-star review almost kept me from coming here. Fortunately I know that people often only use Yelp as an outlet for their occasional dissatisfaction, and that it's not an accurate representation of the actual business. I'd like to give them a 5 to offset the bad one, but I'm going for accuracy, here. I was intrigued by The Blue Door--they'd been popping up in my Facebook feed as a recommendation for a while. I work in Ashland and love going to The Blue Giraffe (blue, funny, just realized that...), but it's difficult to justify seeing my regular stylist on days I don't work, because that's a 70 mile round trip. I also LOVE Aveda products, so I decided to ignore the naysayer and give The Blue Door a chance. With that being said, I'm not entirely sure of their procedure, but I think you have to ask them to use Aveda, or ask for an Aveda stylist. My stylist, Wendy (sp?) was GREAT, but I didn't ask any questions, so she used other products. That's fine--it was still nice stuff. So check this: she listened to me perfectly, did exactly what I asked for, and I left happy. I also left with a darn cute pair of earrings, because not only is this a salon, but an adorable little gift shop. And additionally, you can order a beer, a cider, a nice glass of wine (Schmidt and RoxyAnn, people), a bellini, etc. I can't say anything about color, but I liked my cut. And $30 for a woman's cut is 25% cheaper than my favorite salon in Ashland ($40). I say that's pretty reasonable if you don't want a Great Clips cut. Guys are $20. And the decor is really cute too. read more

When first calling I was greeted on the phone by a very sweet girl ~ Bailey & she was very helpful ~ she referred Brooke H. and I'm so glad she did!!! I had my hair done today ~ Brooke is a gem!!! She used a new technique called balayage - after talking to her for a while about what I like & want I wanted for hi-lights she suggested the balayage! She listens, she cares, & she's super good with color! I have lived in grants pass for 2 1/2 years now, and have found the perfect place to get my hair cut. Wendy is an excellent hair stylist. I have recently gone from long hair to a cute shoulder length style and Wendy did a brilliant job. :) She is quick and efficient, but have never felt rushed. I trust her completely (coming from a long hair loving gal). She gives her professional advice but also makes sure to hear what you want. I am very happy and will continue to come back. Ann, the owner comes from many Years In the beauty industry & is not only modern & current in hair cuts - she really listens to your 'end goal' that you have or want. Bringing in pictures is welcomed. I came last Saturday & had her new skin line dermatolohi all and it was fabulous ! So not only is she a skilled precision cutter - she knows skin & make up. I appreciated her sharing her knowledge with me on aging skin. That, and she gave me a new current makeup lesson I needed - I went in and paid for just the facial and light therapy for my dark spotted skin. I was amazed at how my wrinkles didn't appear so deep & I had a youthful glow since - if you are like me - wanting a new skin make up or hair style you will be pleased with Ann. The worst I have ever been treated in my entire life. This salon had a new receptionist who accidentally canceled my hair appointment, an appointment that took me 3 mo this to get mind you. I show up at the correct time only be be told what happened. Another 5 Star review! I tried this Salon because of the Yelp ratings. I needed to refresh my combination of balayage and highlights to lessen the darker re-growth showing up. I made my appointment with Laine and she took the time to listen to my request and offer suggestions. She gave me a highlight combo using 7n and 8n and then a toner using 9p. I'm writing this so I can remember as I travel ALOT! She took her time and it seemed she was addressing each hair. Laine kept an eye on how I was processing. I am SO happy with the results. It's a very natural blonde with lots of dimension. The salon felt bright and sunny on a rainy day. I highly recommended the Salon and Laine as a stylist. Don't let her youthful looks give you pause. My daughter and wife have been going to Apphia for over a year now. Befor her they tried many diffrent salons in the area and they all jacked their hair up. Apphia at the Blue Door seems to be the only person in our small town that can cut, color and style to their high standards. The price is a little on the high side, but it's worth it. Came here to just get a haircut cause my hair was getting pretty bad. I hate how most places cut off way too much hair and leave it all choppy looking. It's hard to find a place and someone that you trust with your hair, so I'm pretty iffy about where I go. This is the salon I hear the MOST about, and a few of my friends come here, so i thought I'd try it out. I called and got an appt the same day with Wendy. I got it layered but kept the length, and she did such an amazing job! She listened and knew exactly what I wanted, my hair feels lighter, healthier, and is still long. She knows what she is doing and how to give you exactly what you are looking for. I would recommend her to anyone looking for color and a cut. This is an adorable little boutique. I (used to) love purchasing odds n' ends here so I thought it would be a great place to start getting my hair cut at! I called to schedule and the receptionist told me the gal preferred to speak with new clients before they scheduled to "make sure she can make them happy". So I left my name and phone number. The receptionist said I would be hearing from the gal "shortly". That was four days ago!!! Needless to say I will be going to another salon.
