Most of the bars are dive bars in downtown Santa Monica, and parking is quite accessible for this place. So I'd recommend for that reason. In terms of the drinks, I'm a huge fan of cocktail but I would say their menu selections are a bit limited. Nothing in the signature cocktail looks interesting to me, so I had the bartender make a classic cocktail instead. He's very attentive and friendly, didn't take forever to get a drink either, no attitude. Drinks aren't watered down either. Nice! You come here to grab quick drinks when you don't feel like being at a loud dive bar in the area, it's in a hotel but not too upscale, no strict dress code. Music is not loud and they have couches and booth if bar table if not your thing, you don't have to yell or pretend you hear everything to hold a conversation here (lol). ** Keep in mind 20% gratuity is automatically included in bill, it's my first time here. But I think I've other spots I'd prefer to be in, even at Santa Monica. Wouldn't be self-motivated to come back because there are better places that specialises mixology, and there are also better upscale hotel bars to be at. But if you're around the area it's a great intimate bar for date night that's not overly pricey. Wouldn't travel all the way to here just for this (if you know what I mean).

I can honestly say that we've never had bad service. After reading some of the reviews, I guess we've been pretty fortunate because our experiences have always been positive. I actually appreciate the security team for helping ensure everyone stays safe, and they've always been friendly and professional with us. The bar has plenty to enjoy, including a pool table, fireplaces, and various games. The bartenders are organized and efficient. Don't expect a lot of engagement, as they're typically very busy, especially when the place gets crowded. Tonight, we had no problem finding a seat, and other guests were very accommodating about sharing space. Overall, it was a great night and a wonderful way to wrap up our evening in Santa Monica. Tips: It can get noisy, but hey go in with that expectation and you'll be fine. Expect the ladies restroom to have a line, It's a 2 stall. Finally, regarding street parking follow the times of payment, they do ticket.

I asked for my photo to not be taken, they said I can't go in unless I have my photo taken. This isn't the TSA. I am not sure where my photo is being stored. Will they sell my photo to some data broker? Are they collecting photos of faces to be sold to an AI company? Who knows. No thanks, I walked off. Not impressed.

The restaurant transports you to a different country. It makes you feel like you are relaxing on a resort. The customer service was very good, from start to finish. All the staff were very warm and inviting. Our server, Antonio, was amazing. He was friendly, thoughtful, and attentive. We came for the brunch. There was a decent variety of options to choose from. The food was well seasoned. My favorites were the ribeye steak & the fried shrimp. I liked the fact that there was a crepe & omelette station, which was made to order. I ordered a crepe with strawberries, bananas, & nutella. I did not care for the bananas being inside all alone, I wish they would've added strawberries & nutella inside also. Just a personal preference though. The DJ was pretty good, & the songs were relatively upbeat. There were a couple of Afro-beat songs that came & the percussionist came out and played along, which was my favorite part. I wish he would've played more songs to get the crowd really moving. Maybe it was still a bit early. Overall I enjoyed my time here. I would gladly go back.

The fries were also disappointing and looked like they came straight out of a frozen bag rather than being freshly made. To top it all off, I noticed a small mouse crawling above the canopy while we were dining. I understand that it's an outdoor dining area and that things like this can be difficult to control, but it was still unsettling to see, especially while eating. On the positive side, the servers were very attentive, friendly, and checked on us multiple times throughout the meal, which I really appreciated. The views were also absolutely top-notch and easily one of the highlights of the experience. Overall, while the service and views were excellent, the food quality and mouse sighting really took away from what could have been a wonderful dining experience.

What can be better than having brunch right next to and with view at the beach in an elegant, classy, and yet comfortable atmosphere?? The Shutters remains one of my top favorites, particularly for a special occasion. The service was superb, and my green tie - chosen for the specific date of SPD - even triggered a guest from another table, reminiscing times with the Irish, to send a Guinness and a Veuve Clicquot my way - OMG, all that in addition to my Mimosa - glad I had a nondrinking driver!! The food was delicious, comparably small but overall right-sized portions, beautifully presented, and very appealing in flavor and texture. Burrata Caprese, Shakshuka skillet, Lobster Benedict and Grilled Asparagus, and a Wagyu Burger were all very different but each and every one represented excellent dishes. Combined with a refreshing Watermelon Salad to share - yummy!! For dessert a shared Chocolate Ganache and hot Vanilla Pears to round up the too short of an experience. Well, I guess there is a need to come back again ...!!

It's a great luxury hotel. As we live in LA, we rarely stay. Yesterday, our CPA appointment ran…read moreunexpectedly short and we bridged our time until dinner with drinks on their balcony. Service, ambiance (and view) and drinks we as nice as one would expect from a place like this. We were the only table who did not get chips with their drinks. Why "only" four out of five stars? Because of the chips? C'mon, gimme a break. Of course not. Without question this is a very upscale hotel. I try to avoid to combine this with upscale expectations - how could you rate this say against a $100-a-night-motel. The motel will always fall short. So in my rating world, when I go, the place as automatically three stars. If it had not, I would not go. Depending on the experience, regardless of the status of the place, I give it more, or ... less. The place is and was really nice and I highly recommend it. By pure definition, it sure deserves five stars. A five star hotel with five star service and five star prices. Now, having lived in the world of the rich-beauty-famous for most of my life, that alone does not impress me too much. If the five star hotel would fall short - and I have seen this, my individual experience may lead to two stars or less, and sadly, it happened. In this case, we loved it and would go again. BUT: to achieve five stars in my rating scheme, I need to be willing to make a 30+ min detour just to go to this particular place. And while ambiance, view & stuff was nice, it was not nice/ special/ outstanding enough to earn its five points. And after Shutters, I went to a place that was clearly worth five stars. A place I have been to often, in walking distance - and a place to I would drive an hour out of my way just to go. But that's another story :-)
