Service was excellent, everyone on the staff was not only friendly and kind to guests but also warm and kind with each other, which created such a lovely atmosphere. They offer both free and paid Wi-Fi; the free option worked perfectly for checking emails. I ordered the tempura cauliflower without blue cheese, it was absolutely delicious. This place is really an upscale lounge. They had live piano with singing and some where dancing. There's a full bar and restaurant as well. The wait staff is superb and the food and drinks are right there too. We tried about 7 different dishes. Had the cowabunga flatbread so packed with food and really good. Tried the pasta it was OK not much flavor other than tomato. The fingerling potatoes with octopus was an amazing combo, those potatoes were crispy sand so good. The filet mignon was the most tender thickest meat I've ever eaten just wow. Also tried the tuna tostadas and I was not disappointed. Sometime going upscale is worth it and here it was. read more

Service was great! Drinks: My niece had a Bellini. And I had my usual Chardonnay. I guess, the Bellini was pretty good bec she ordered a second one. As for my Chard, it was good too. It was a bit on the dry. They give you a taste to start. As for the food, except for the Lava Cake, everything we ordered was delicious -- Beef Tartare, Deviled Eggs, Sushi platter, Sashimi platter and, my oh my, the Chocolate-Chip Cookies. They were freshly baked and tender, and sooo delicious. (They also had tasty complimentary starters.) I highly recommend this place again. This place also has a sentimental value to me. My family loved to come here. Ladies Room: A beautiful restroom, with extra separate space for the mirrors, and sink, small cloth towels provided, and hand lotion. Parking: I did not do valet. There is a SM parking structure on 4th Street near the corner of Wilshire. The cost for parking at the structure for about 3 - 4 hours was $9. That may be like almost the valet-parking cost but I don't really care for valet parking. Even before the pandemic. So I am glad I have the parking structure. (It's nice and clean too.) Signed up for two spa services at Exhale in the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. During lunch stopped in at the Lobby Lounge and was pleasantly surprised. We sat outside near a small waterfall with koi fish. First and foremost I ordered crabcakes they didn't taste great, it's lacked the crunchiness that you would expect from a crabcake If it were supposed to be fried. It also lacked flavor. We came in to have a few drinks at this lobby bar on a Sunday afternoon. The actual bar was a tiny little bar with only 5 or 6 bar stools. Most people were just standing around the bar area so it was a bit crowded. We had espresso martini with Grey Goose, classic Vesper martini and spicy margarita. The drinks were very strong and tasty, they offered chips as snacks. I think you can order bar food too cause I saw someone eating a big sandwich at the bar. The drink prices were not too bad for an oceanfront hotel in my opinion. Our bartender was very friendly and fast considering she was the only one working at the moment. We had small fun talks with the friendly and easy going people at the bar, most of them were not from LA. We stayed for a while and decided to check out the Bungalow lounge next door. Remember to validate your valet ticket here cause they don't do validations at the Bungalow! Missed the boat again... The reason for the low stars is that the kitchen, run by Jason Prendergast, has no consistency. Every week my food comes out different. I eat here several times a week and when its right, it's great, but when it's wrong, I resent the high prices for poor results. Unfortunately, today I won't be eating as three times they got it wrong. Inconsistency here at the Fairmont seems to a reoccurring theme. Customer experience is based upon several factors, and while I think the service is great, the atmosphere is great, and the location is outstanding. But a professional kitchen should take pride in their cooking, plating, temperature, and presentation. This is something one would expect from a short-order kitchen. I TAKE THAT BACK! I have had consistency from some hole-in-the-wall kitchens. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I have never had a meal served to me the same way twice. I'm sure Jason takes pride in his food, so here's perhaps a couple suggestions: 1. Have better communication between the staff and the kitchen. I think this is a BIG part of the problem. From what I heard, the kitchen won't even tolerate communication from the staff. 2. Have a main chef or expediter who regularly checks the food leaving the kitchen. I love the Fairmont and have been a regular guest for several years. The staff is great! It will be a pleasant addition when the food matches the rest of my great experience. P.S. The table of eight sitting near me has been waiting almost an hour for their food. They even mentioned that it will soon be lunch time. I stayed at the Fairmont hotel for a work trip, and decided to grab a quick bite (and cocktail, of course) at the bar. My drink of choice that day: Rum Old Fashioned made with Mt gay rum, honey syrup, and bitters. It was a nice twist on a classic cocktail. I was just there last night to eat as their food is typically very good. I believe it comes from the same kitchen as FIG, their big restaurant. However, I was super disappointed in the food last night. I ordered the steak frites and it was probably a 2/10. They changed their fries which was a huge mistake because now they're terrible. The steak was extremely over cooked and whatever their avacado ranch was tasted horrible. I had their vodka pasta a couple of months ago and it was surprisingly very good. However I come to find last night that they only serve it on certain days of the week. They have two dining menus which they alternate throughout the week, which is dumb to me. My advice is to bring the quality of food back that they've had before, make sure their meals are prepared perfect because this place is not cheap. Love the design and esthetics of this lounge. The bartender is also very experienced and makes excellent, balanced cocktails. I only give three stars because of the waiter(s) I've had the same older, Latin American lady there for several times and her way of conducting herself as well as keeping an overview of the tables make her seem like this is her first time working in the service industry. It's very transactional and blunt and her energy is frazzled, every time and it's really hard to get her attention, even when the place is half empty. She has little to no knowledge of the wine list and without giving her an item number she's lost. Very unclear to me why she holds this position and I can only suspect someone called in a favor and it feels like she is there solely so she can pay her bills, which is not the energy you want to feel as a guest. I have over a decade of experience working in this industry and I have trained bartenders and waiters in the past, so I can tell when someone neither has sufficient training nor the personality for a job in this industry. -Review just for service and coffee- Came here to kill time because I messed up my work out times and showed up for one 30 minutes before it started over at exhale. Figured I'd grab a coffee. As soon as I walked in several people came to help me get a table, etc. Thought I might get a little worse service or dirty looks because I looked pretty haggard just in my workout clothes, but everyone was very friendly. Ordered coffee and it came as a cup with a small carafe. When I tried to pour a little more it came spilling out (like when all the ice in your water comes crashing down on your unsuspecting face, but hot coffee), it was really embarrassing, but the staff was really nice. A couple waiters jumped up right away to help me and after apologizing profusely, they just insisted they were glad I was okay. Coffee - The coffee itself was okay, nothing amazing, but not burnt or acidy. Lounge - Nice. It's half indoors, half outdoors next to a waterfall and koi pond. It's directly ahead when you enter the lobby, but it's not too loud considering. Super close to the beach so you can't beat that. Service - Very friendly and accommodating as mentioned above, not pretentious. Overall - I'm a local so I can't imagine coming to a hotel on a regular basis, but would recommend it if you're visiting. Parking - Free two hours with validation. If you're judging this place against all other lounges, it's nothing special. If you are comparing it to other hotel lobby lounges, it's pretty awesome. Skip the indoor seating and go straight outdoors. There's a pretty koi pond and little waterfalls, couch seating, and mini firepits. If you're in the mood to get away from all the hustle and bustle in the surrounding area, this is the perfect place to go. Not a lot of people know about it, so it's not usually too crowded. The food and drinks are enjoyable, especially for a hotel lounge, but not exactly fine dining. Prices are on the higher side (you are in the Fairmont hotel after all). We lingered over a plate of fries and a cocktail for hours without any pressure to get up. Laid back and relaxing. Just the way I like my afternoons. read more

After perusing all the negative Yelp reviews about the terrible service, I set my expectations very low as I brought my Travelzoo voucher here on a Saturday afternoon to catch up with a friend over drinks. Perhaps previous reviews catalyzed a fire under the management, but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased when our service was nothing short of lovely. Our waitress was kind and friendly, without any disgruntled look when I presented my coupon. In fact, she was quite chipper about it. She took our orders and checked up on us over the 2 hour duration that we sat on the patio, and I had a wonderful time engaged in conversation under perfect summer weather. I ordered the mango & cilantro jalapeno tequila cocktail and loved the subtle kick. My second drink was a grapefruit vodka concoction that was slightly less memorable. My friend ordered a unimpressive whiskey drink and a dirty Manhattan that was pleeeenty strong, oh boy. I took a sip of that and felt the punch instantaneously. Not for the weak-hearted, my friends. We didn't order any food, but it looked phenomenal from what we saw on the tables around us. Very generous food portions for entrees under $20 at a hotel lounge. Each table also received a plate of munchies (pistachio nuts and addictive honey mustard pretzel sticks) upon seating yourself at a table in or outside the lounge. Spending my night at Lobby Lounge with my friends was a great way to end the evening. The outside seating area was softly lit with fire pits and gave a very classy ambiance. Honestly, my friends and I weren't really sure what to expect of the service since many Yelpers seem to have experienced poor service. However, as soon as we sat down our server came immediately to bring menus and some pretzels and pistachios to munch on. Throughout the night, she kept checking in to make sure we were doing alright with our drinks. As for the drinks themselves - they were very flavorful! I got the Strawberry Pineapple Mojito. It wasn't too strong which was good for me. My friends got the Champagne, Mango and Cilantro, Golden Mojito, and Dawa Cocktail. They were all yummy, except the honey in the Dawa Cocktail didn't mix well and there was a huge glob of it at the bottom of the drink! It was also very limey. It seemed like we were speaking in tongues when she asked if we were all together (check wise) and I said we would like 3 different checks. The flatbread looked delicious (a patron further down on the bar had some) but I did not even want to order any and linger with the mediocre service. One drink is $ 16 plus change. The ambiance is nice with the heat lamps in the open air and some indoor seats (which were filled) but I doubt I'd go back because of the service. I came on a Travelzoo coupon (i.e., 4 drinks) and since I had to present it before ordering, I think that set the tone of the evening with our British born server... he said, "...everyone is here on that tonight..." and was scarce the rest of the evening at best. Arrived at around 8:30 on a Friday night and was looking forward to checking out the Lobby Lounge and doing something I wouldn't normally do...for the "experience". Of course, since it was the second to last day of the Travelzoo deal, the place was a madhouse. We were lucky to find a seat! It took about a 20 minutes before our order was taken and that was only due to the fact that they seemed understaffed, the Lounge was packed inside and outside and we had to start getting "aggressive" by initiating eye contact with the waitstaff and asking someone to take our order. Our waiter, to his credit was helpful in answering questions and advising us on what to order/stay away from. My friend ordered a Manhattan and I got the Strawberry Mojito. Both were strong and good; although I thought they were a bit pricey, but standardly priced for an upscale hotel bar. We ordered appetizers which were the ceviche and fish tacos. The ceviche was very good; light, citrusy and very tasty. The fish tacos were good, but I've had better and are "Gringofied" for the audience served; quite messy finger food though... be prepared to wash your hands after eating the tacos. After eating, the crowd began to wind down around 11:00 P.M. and you would think it might be easier to get some service to order more food/drink. Not the case here; it took quite a while to get our second round. All we wanted was hot tea to chase our drinks with and resorted to asking another waitress to get it. Her response? "Let me get your server." I guess you can't wait on us if we aren't your designated guests? Odd for a place with the reputation of the Fairmont. She however returned minutes later with the tea, but not individual servings for me and my friend; one pot to share between the two of us. As my friend suggested, perhaps the Fairmont was not all that interested in serving patrons on the deal; personally, I don't really care, but it spoke to a honor/service ethic which would have achieved more business if the service was stellar. I found it especially OFFENSIVE that we had ordered these two additional food items which cost about $40 and still no service follow up? Disappointing really!!! To our waiter's credit, he only stopped by three times after taking our initial order in a span of 3.5 hours. Once to check on how we were doing, to take our second food order and how the food was. After that, he was nowhere to be seen. The experience was okay, but as another patron said to us as we were waiting for our tea (and telling us to get a second tea bag inserted because the tea is so weak), "The service here is awful." I have to agree based on my expectations and past experiences with the Fairmont chain. Service was disappointing indeed. I gave it two stars, because the service was slow and mediocre at best, although the food and drinks were good. The attitude of the waiter upon presentation of the coupon was a put-off somewhat as it seemed we were deemed "second-class" patrons upon its presentation. If I ever come back, it will be because I have business at the hotel or because someone else initiates meeting there. For all of the eateries nearby, this is a "convenience Lounge" as I think there are better value options for your tastebuds and dollars. However, if you are interested in an "experience" for a date or special occasion, it is worth a stop. If it is busy, expect to be disappointed because it is clear that they cannot handle it from a service perspective. read more

Inconsistent service and drinks for too much money ($70+ for 2 drinks & 2 orders of fish tacos). I've been there a few times for weekend-afternoon drinks & snacks. That's when I like to visit: sitting outside in the sun, enjoying the koi pond, wishing they'd turn on the waterfall more often, and overhearing minor chit-chat that's not overly fake or pretentious, despite the location. Like many Westside places, the non-servers here give the best service. I've always experienced solid help from the food-delivery & bus-people. The well-dressed manager often clears tables. Other primary servers have been solid-to-good, which is about all I've been trained to expect in the Westside. However today's server (L___) gave especially poor service to multiple tables: taking the wrong drink orders, rude to friendly guests, only taking dessert orders from 1/2 of the table before walking off, not checking on multiple customers for vast periods of time, not refilling water in the hot sun, and never apologizing for her mistakes. On top of the poor service, the mixed drinks today were terrible, not at all like previous visits (don't know if that was the server or today's bartender). For the high prices at this bar/lounge, the manager should evaluate if the staff are really the right choices. Y'know, or lower the prices. read more

Lovely, classy, casual lounge. We've been 3-5 times as a before or after main destination stop. Service has always been good. Prices are not cheap but they have occasional Travelzoo deals that rock and a special happy hour menu. Everyone should experience the Fairmont once if only to watch all the tourists and be reminded how lucky we are to live here. read more
