The railroad buff in me just has to feature an historic train station for my 2000th review…read more Gare de Nice-Ville is the main train station in Nice. This spring, we arrived here from Paris and later departed from here for Florence. The historic Beaux-Arts exterior has been well maintained, and a pleasure to behold. Trains arrive and depart from the glass-domed train shed behind the station. Platforms are accessible by stairs and lifts. Be prepared to stand on a platform waiting for a train. Ticketing kiosks are located near the station entrances, and the queues are long in the morning. If you need to buy a ticket, allow 20-30 minutes -- kiosk instructions could be clearer. There's also a small but nice concession for take-away coffee and food. Taxis and ride shares stop out from of the station.

Especially since the self service kiosks are only in French... There is an English/UK button to click, but that only translates minimum information on the kiosk. Ambiance - It is a major public train station, so come early if you are not experienced. Crazy busy as expected. Pay to use toilets. Service - Overall good. The best service was our train station, Inoui in Marseille. Price - 20-25 Euros depending on where you are going. Owner Comment - Thanks for having affordable and smooth transportation in Nice. With this station, we made day trips to Cannes, Monaco and now Eze.

We arrived in the afternoon and apparently that day admission fees were waived due to a few temporary exhibit closures. Free admission! : ) Three rooms were blocked off.. I would have loved to see Chagall's timeline, but nevertheless, what we did see was amazing!!! The museum was not large and overwhelming. His work was beautifully displayed. A lot of interesting biblical pieces, glass stained pieces, and a few circus gypsy references. Plenty of comfy benches to sit and resonate. Drawings were displayed as well. A small souvenir bookshop was located next to the museum where I bought a few art postcards and a Chagall museum book. Talented artist and so worth the visit! Must see for sure

When I told my French cousin we were visiting this museum he looked aghast. Not a fan. Me, on the other hand, I find joy, inspiration and melancholy in Chagall's work. His stained glass inspires. His canvases touch on culture, religion and history, and also weave in colorful influences of a later life spent in the South of France. Tucked in an affluent hillside in Nice, the museum can be booked ahead or tickets purchased in person. They have many large-scale oil paintings, along with stained glass, mosaics, watercolors and pen and ink drawings. Recommended. The museum has an outdoor cafe, for those who want a quick pick me up after the museum, and to linger.

Handy to have a mini-fridge in the room-- hotel is across the intersection from a Carrefour City (small but well-stocked grocery) for drinks, wines, spirits, ice, mixers, snacks, food, etc. Also directly across from Monoprix which also has a grocery on the ground floor. The room had a lot of character, almost like getting a prime location with Airbnb but better because you have clean towels and 24 hour staff. The room had a king size bed and a twin bed. We didn't book a suite or anything so we were surprised on how spacious and luxurious the room was. We had two restrooms too! Speaking of staff, the employees were all so friendly and more importantly, accommodating. Our flight from Rome to Nice got cancelled and we were worried about paying for a night when we weren't there on top of cancelation fees. We called the hotel and they changed our booking from 2 nights to one night and waived the cancellation fee. Who does that??? Staff answered all of our questions and reassured us every step of the way. The customer service is superb, I don't even know why French people have a reputation for being rude. It's totally not the case, at least with the staff here. The breakfast was amaze balls. I wish I had photos of the food but I was busy eating it all up. The fruit was fresh and not canned. The croissants were freshly baked. It was flaky and buttery heaven! The baguettes came out piping hot and you can cut it yourself on a board. The coffee machine made like 8 kinds of espresso, cappuccino, and lattes. I had the white cappuccino and it was foamy, milky, and strong. Much better quality than Starbucks. The experience made me feel like I was staying at a five star hotel. I wish our flight wasn't canceled so we could have enjoyed our stay longer. When traveling to Nice, make sure to book this Best Western. It was about 60 euros a night in November!! What a deal!

I believe Lignes d'Azur is the only public transport in Nice offering both bus and tram services. My dad and I purchased a 7-day bus/tram pass after taking Tram 98 to our hotel on the Promenade. Although we didn't use the buses besides the airport, we really took advantage of the tram line going from one end to the other whenever we wanted to explore or get something to eat. Apart from the work commute hours, the trams are generally less crowded and always a better option than taking a taxi or an Uber in my opinion. 7 day passes get the job done on a weekly basis.
