My thoughts about this B&B are very conflicting. For the positives, the location is unbelievable. You are directly in the center of town and within walking distance to the train station, as well as many of the historical landmarks. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to checking in and booking tours or even calling for a taxi. The room was also extremely spacious, giving you a separate living room from the bedroom. Now for the negatives. We took an elevator up to the first floor after checking in and walked down a corridor to our room. Once we came to the hotel room door, the receptionist opens it up and to my surprise, there's two flights of stairs! The set up of the entrance couldn't have been more bizarre. Now we are two young and able girls to walk to flights of stairs but we had enormous suitcases, as we were staying in Italy a little over two weeks. As we're dragging these suitcases down the stairs, smashing them on every stair, hoping we won't go tumbling to our death, the receptionist stood at the bottom and watched. I might have given a higher rating even with the stairs if we were offered help getting our luggage up and down the stairs, during check in and check out. After our adrenaline stopped racing from the stairs of death, we realized a very peculiar smell. The smell was so overbearing and rancid through the whole trip that it made the stay less enjoyable. After arriving to our next destination and opening our suitcases, the smell had taken the travel to Amalfi Coast with us(yuck). So the smell and stairs were not only the downfall. The shower looks beautiful and spacious, although it is not well made at all. I took an amazing hot shower after a long day of walking. As I step out of the shower, feeling so relaxed, my foot drops into a giant puddle of water on the floor. The glass door was so poorly made that the shower was leaking the entire time and I'm not talking a small puddle, this was almost certifiable to be considered a canal in Venice. I had to use the two towels that they provided for us to clean up the disaster. The next morning, they only gave us one towel , when there were two of us staying, and the others were so clearly soaked. Now going back to the design of the hotel room, and the bizarreness of it all. The lights and AC were operated by our room key. Every time we would come back to the hotel room, we would have to insert our key into the slot by the door in order for everything to turn on. I'm all about saving energy and be conscious of the environment, but this was extremely inconvenient for us. There were times that my friend wanted to sleep, whereas I wanted to explore. This meant either she had to be without lights, or I had to be with no entry back into the room. It would have been pretty much impossible for her to here me knocking on the door while she was sleeping, being two flights down into the dungeon. The solution of this problem, could be so simple by providing us with two keys. Lastly, the breakfast spot was down two roads, which was fine, but the food was awful. I'm no food critic and I will gladly chow down anything in front of me but the eggs were so salty and cheesy, it was impossible to even get them down. Overall, you really can't beat the location of this place, so if you can overcome funky smells and odd dungeon like rooms, and plan on not spending much time in them, I say go for it! read more
