    View across the Arno...
    Rick W.

I stayed at this lovely 600 year old hotel while traveling in Florence on a recent European vacation...The staff, in particular Jitka and Martina, were very helpful in setting up my train trip to Pisa and my tours of the Academy of Art and Uffizi galleries and recommending restaurants while in this beautiful city. The hotel Bretagna is situated right on the River Arno and I enjoyed a beautiful river view...The price was very reasonable and I intend to stay here again on my next visit in 2014. Thank you ladies...I'll see you again soon!

In a different country too! Unless you know Tuscany yourself, sit back and enjoy the rides. Okay so the bus ride wasn't the most comfortable, as Americans need HUGE seats with power ports, etc. and cart service with snacks. Fun fact: they're driving manual transmission buses. OOOOORRRRR you can try to blend and deal with the hour or two long bus ride without plugging in your devices. It's not that bad.

I took the Siena/Chiant/San Gimignano/Pisa day trip. It started out OK. Bus ride to Siena, where we…read morewere walked to the meeting point some 15 minutes away, given a briefing, then those that didn't chose the walking tour (I did) got free time. For those of us on the walking tour with the local guide, we got a few points of interest, then left at the Duomo with instructions on how to get back on our own. Unfortunately for me, I was the only fool that trusted the instructions and didn't use Google maps until it was too late. On my way back I got lost, and once on Google Maps found I would not be at the meeting point on time. At this point, I'm in constant contact with Ciao Florence. I was told to instead meet at the bus. I had no idea where that was, so they sent a google maps link. Of course that was even further away. I was assured they were waiting, and up until I was 5 minutes away, was told they were waiting. At THAT point I was informed they left without me. FIVE MINUTES!!!! I was practically in sight of the bus depot! The next stop was Chianti, for a wine tasting and lunch, but I had to take a cab ride at the cost of 100 euro in order to catch up. I really should have just taken the train back to Florence--it would have been far cheaper and more enjoyable! So I catch up to the group, and get no apology, but the tour guide trying to justify herself and how "long" they waited. By all accounts of people there, she hardly waited at all. So after, being hot and tired, get even more angry. I settle into the appetizer and a little wine, then lunch is served... at which point she comes over AGAIN, and starts trying to justify herself again, making me so angry, I slam my plate aside, gulp my wine, so I had practically no lunch. All I can say for Chianti is thank God there was wine... Even the winery saw I needed it and poured me another glass... San Gimignano was OK, but far too short. Barely enough time to go up the hill and back to make it back to the bus on time. And you can BET I mapped this one, and made sure I was back early. Not going to be left behind twice!. The AC on the bus stopped working on a very hot day, only blowing air, not cold. All the guide did was say "It's on maximum!" and didn't do anything about it. I, at least, informed the company there was a problem, as she didn't bother. Pisa certainly could have been longer. And again, I made sure I was back in plenty of time. Her further attempts at any conversation were met with one word answers. I was the first one back on the bus, walking well ahead of the group (why should I wait for HER.?.. she didn't wait for me!). And I was thankful when the bus finally reached Florence, where I no longer had to worry. Other than Siena with the optional walking tour with the local guide, most stops were "here we are, meet at XX o'clock at this point" and good luck. To be fair, I took a few tours with Ciao Florence in 2025, and they were excellent, and Jacobo was a great guide. That made me take taking another Ciao Florence tour for granted. In 2025, I never felt in danger. This time, not so much. I'm not saying there won't be a next time, as I MAY calm down by then, but it certainly won't be with the guide I had this time. And I will most certainly research other options. I suggest others do the same.

Worst trip ever! I…read morebooked the Krakow/Auschwitz tour. It was a waste of money. The only things that were booked/arranged for me was the hostel and the Auschwitz trip. All the information given was incorrect/outdated. Shaun also decided to tell the hostel I was checking out early (without me requesting this) causing me to be screamed at, threatened, and having to find and rebook the majority of serves that were included in this trip. Shaun is refusing to cover the additional costs he caused and refund upcoming trips. The hostel was terrible. The staff was rude, the place smelled of the windows were closed, lots of road noise, and the mattresses were so thin my back is still sore from it days later. On top of that Shaun decided to email the hostel and telling them I was checking out days early without my requesting this or informing me of this. So, when I arrived back at the hostel 4 hours after checking out time, I was greeted by the staff screaming at me, threatening me, and my property had been moved. The hostel confirmed that my booking was for a few more days but because of Shaun's email I was not supposed to stay there anymore. I could not get a refund either. It was so bad that I was not conferrable being there anymore I just left my key on the counter as they continued to threaten me. I had to rebook all the services that I had already paid for the hostel to provide. Shaun is refusing to reimburse me claiming it is not part of the package that I booked when in fact the services are listed on the website as part of the package. On Friday they "book" you two walking tours of the town. The tours are completely free. They happen at the same time every day and if you see them around town anyone can join them. Just tip the guide at the end of the tour. Apparently, I paid $20 Euro a tour and still had to trip the guide because the guide said she did not see any of the $20 Euro. I went on the first one and tipped the girl all the cash in my pocket. I sent an email complaining. Shaun said the guide was wrong and insulted my intelligence. Then supposedly he booked me private tour for Friday afternoon to make up for it but did not tell me about the tour until Sunday afternoon. I was emailing back and forth with Shaun at the time of this private tour; he made no mention of it. On Saturday, they book an Auschwitz tour. It was fine but they fail to tell you that you need to bring your passport with you. Luckily, I had it with me. If not, I would have missed the entire tour. I told Shaun this information should be in the itinerary, and he again insulted me. The email I received also included information on other things to do in town. The information in the email was outdated and included the wrong pricing/information for all the additional activities I choose to book. Shaun's response is that it was close enough and that I should just deal with it. The entire point of a tour company is to take care of the planning and researching for you. This company does not do it. I felt Shaun was working against me so much stress and drama. I also had to research/rebook/repay for many services that I had already paid for in the package. It caused way more stress than just booking it myself. If I'm paying that much of a premium for someone else to book my trip I expect it to be booked correctly, go smoothly, and when it doesn't go smoothly that the company apologizes and correct it. Also, I was the only person on the trip so if you want to meet new people while you travel this is not the company. (No, they do not tell you ahead of time if you are the only one on the trip). I am still trying to get refunds for the services I had to pay for two times since Shaun decided to cancel my hostel reservation days early. Also, fighting to get full refunds for the other tours I booked for a few months from now. I have no faith that the other tours will be any better given the co-founder's hand in ruining this trip and response to feedback.

If you have read all the other reviews on yelp you have noticed that Shaun, the company owner…read morealways has to defend himself on people's reviews. That shows how unprofessional of a business that he is running. I have many issues with this company. First you are paying way more than you getting. On the website it says you get breakfast, walking tour, hostel, and a tour guid. I did not receive a tour guid and Shaun says he will refund me the 40$ that went towards that. Hopefully I receive that. They make it sound like a good deal because it includes breakfast and a walking tour, but don't be fooled. The walking tour is through the hostel and it is free for all the guests. Euro adventures does not set that up, it's all through the direct hostel. Second, the breakfast is only 4euro a day and is garbage, but at least included. Third I showed up to my reservation and on top of all I already had to pay I had to pay more money for my key and city taxes. I have never had to pay for that at any other hostel that was through a company. They should really tell you that you have no choice but to pay for it when you arrive. Actually It should be included, but it's not. Next,, I paid 150$ for three nights in hostel but actually ... the hostel is only 20 euro a night and I will include a pic of the daily rates. And yes it does change everyday, but euro adventure books in advance so they actually got a better rate than that. That is how hostels work, they make you pay more the closer it is to the date you want to stay,, and if it's only 20 euro the night of.. and I paid $50 a night then that's outrageous! Euro adventures couldn't even send out the right info about the trip. Half of the sheet of info was about the trip to Poland... when I am going to Barcelona. (Pics included) (and yes was fixed but still.. really they couldn't even take the time the first time to make sure it was correct. So unprofessional!) Also i didn't get the information until the night before the trip, after emailing asking for the trip info weeks before. Save yourself the time and money and book elsewhere. Be careful and make sure you read what you are getting and do your own research to see how much it would cost you to do on your own, especially when it is a meet you there trip. Not worth it. Rip off.

I was afraid that my big luggage wasn't going to fit but the space was huge! I did have to reserve two lockers to leave our other small luggage and back packs. It was a relieve though that they have so much room. I swear it doesn't seem like it but my big luggage fit with room to spare. Many reviews recommend to reserve ahead of time. I didn't just because again, I wasn't sure if it was going to fit. We got lucky and we were able to get two lockers without problems. I saw more people coming in and they were also able to reserved one. My advise though is that during high seasons you do reserve the lockers you would need online. Last but not least and super important, do not throw away the receipt. It has the code to open the locker. This might sound funny because it is common sense you would think. However, I saw a group of people who threw away their receipt with the code and they couldn't open it. They kept calling the help button but no one was picking up. Don't be one of those people who messed up and later on blame it on the company for "not picking up." Your receipt, you valuables, your responsibility :)

This review below is meant for hotel baccio or whatever, the hotel right next to this shop, which I was originally looking for. Please guys don't mistake Stow your bags for another place like I did. I'll leave this review on to warn people to make sure to come to the right place. Okay, Italy was perfect until I got to this place. This man. The man that took my bags has got to be or to work for one of the meanest, pettiest people I have ever come to meet. So Florence was cold when I arrived right? So I wanted to change into longer pants before I stored my bags and I asked the employee if I could use the bathroom. "No! Not possible." He said it so aggressively I literally thought he was joking, laughed, and asked, "okay, seriously." "Not possible!!" he snarled like he was defending his daughter's virginity. Next a misunderstanding occurred. He said, "if you take something from the bar, you can use the restroom." But he said it in such broken English and so aggressively, that I thought he said, "if you use restroom, you might take from the bar." (Stealing) So I get upset and a shouting match occurs that ends with me deescalating it with sarcastic compliance. He apologizes and said, "look, I don't make the rules, I don't own the place." He then flipped a sign around that reads, "no WiFi, no bathroom" for guests. The pettiness is laughable. Learn generosity dude Also, when the guy took my bags, he did not put it in a secure room with locks! He put it in a small, sectioned off lobby that could easily be accessed by anyone in that lobby. The guy has to just go for a break and the bags would be fully exposed. Anyways, that bar the guy was talking about? Was a cafe independent from the hotel. Tinos. I ended up having breakfast there . They are the only people in Florence that smiled.
