Super cute ambience in Chelsea Market, my friend said "it reminded her of France," which, as a French restaurant, makes sense. It was the first restaurant we saw in Chelsea Market after our very long commute, and we were very hungry, and the cute decor drew us in. The food was alright, I ordered the chicken and waffles and liked the chicken and the waffle separately. There wasn't enough syrup for the waffle (it was a little dry), but I appreciated the cinnamon. The chicken was also appropriately crispy. Definitely pretty though! They couldn't switch my friend's side salad for fries (even with an up-charge) because it "wasn't very much" but when it came out, it was basically its own meal. She said it was a lil too vinegar-y too, but she liked the eggs benedict it was meant to accompany. The gruyere biscuit that came with my other friend's meal was very delicious though. read more

We just happened to be standing outside the restaurant waiting for a friend when they opened their doors and decided to venture in. Since they were still setting up, we sat at the bar and ordered a drink. The four stars are mostly for the bar service. I was impressed by Alberto's (bartender) passion as well as hygiene. He was happy that I took a picture, and even mentioned that other customers have taken pictures of/with him. He wore gloves to cut the pears, which is a huge plus for me. Our drinks were refreshing...if we weren't in a hurry probably would've ordered more. The restaurant itself had some interesting decoration, with no specific theme. This review is for HH! Great deal! But only 3 stars because the service was not really good Stopped by and saw the board with HH offer and decided to stay on a Saturday!! The have one white wine, red wine, beer at less than $7 and $1 oysters. The best thing is that the HH is not only limited to the bar, so they perfectly accomodated us and our stroller in one of the enda of the large table. Place is really cute and well decorated, dimmed lights and cozy. Service is slow. Didn't pay us attention to take our order until we call them out and collected my unfinished lemonade without even asking. They did not offered water. Oysters were REALLY GOOD AND FRESH (from Maine). We did not like the sauce that it came with tho. Only squeezed fresh lemon and they were delicious. Would only go back for HH deal if we are around. Oh. It's for sure not really a French restaurant/bistro, but it is not a bad choice to go if you're around Chelsea market, the interior is cute! The day we visited was so hot outside, I was worried to get food poison since it would be rather hard to preserve foods properly under such a hot day but I was super impressed by how fresh the oysters could be. We loved their oysters! Chicken Franchise tasted not bad, it reminds me a lot of British bar food but changed sausages to chicken instead. I didn't really know the answer, so I googled it, it showed that it should be a American-Italian dish? Well, the sauce was delicious if you care nothing about authentic French foods, you should try. We were so excited to try this French restaurant in Chelsea market however we ended up very disappointed. The restaurant decor was pretty and nice, they also had happy hour from 4pm to 7pm for house wine and beer and for the food was only oysters and sliders. We ordered the oyster, escargot, steak frits, mussels and Nutella beignet. The oyster was fresh and good. The escargot was ok with just 2 small pieces of bread(I was expecting better I guess since it was French restaurant). The steak frits and the mussels were ok too. Again, the mussels only came with 2 small pieces of bread and when we asked for additional bread, of course they charged us. The most disappointing moment was the Nutella beignet, we ordered 2 plates for 5 of us and we couldn't eat the beignet. It was so salty and very oily, left a after taste so badly. We told the server that something was not right with the beignet and we couldn't even eat them and she would rely the message to the kitchen. Yet, they still charged us for those 2 plates of beignet and on top of that 18% gratuity (from the total includes the tax) was automatically included on the check. We started in a good mood before the dessert and left very disappointed with the last few minutes that we experienced in that restaurant. First of all, I have never seen a place auto charge 18% gratuity for 2 people. My mistake, I didn't check the bill closely and added another tip to the total not realizing this. Secondly: The service was below average. I ordered a pale ale and got a stout, with several gnats hovering over and in the beer. She apologized and changed it when I pointed it out, so not a horrible job. But The waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for a few more minutes to look at the menu. Finally, the music did not fit the French bistro vibe. Maybe it's me but techno trance doesn't enhance a French colonial decor. The good: the design and French paraphernalia, and the mixed drinks were very decent. The bad: the food was over priced and you can find better in Chelsea. Le Song is a hip french bistro in Chelsea market. Visited this place with a bunch of friends over a weekend in the evening. I was in absolute love with the ambience, the place was very cozy with artsy and personalized decor giving a European look. We had to wait a few minutes to get seated, the service was really great and they had a nice choice of food and drinks. We visited the place around 6 which was during happy hours and the drinks were very reasonably priced. They had a few good vegetarian options to go and ordered a couple of sharable plates to go with. While seated, a couple of times the servers had brought the wrong orders to the table and probably they can coordinate better in future Recommendations: Sharable plates: Ricotta Pesto Toast, French Fries Overall, the place is definitely worth trying to have some good food and drinks with a group of friends when in Chelsea market. read more

I feel compelled to write a review, as their Bloody Elle is the best execution of a Bloody Mary I've ever tasted. I'm a big bloody fan, and I've tried lots of them. Not only that, both the owner and the chef came over to say hello and chatted with the customers. The restaurant is also gorgeous. The front area has large picnic style tables and the back area has more intimate smaller tables. Just a very cool looking place. I prefer fluffier waffles, so they were hard for my likes. They were good by any other standards. Fruit was fresh and sweet. We had some fries, which were seasoned with rosemary. Very tasty. Drinks were around $13.50. Typical for NY, but not a waste of money. You'll want two however. For the price point, I think you can do better overall. Passed by a couple of $7 wine specials as well as the tiny Cull & Pistol before landing on Le Song. Board said $6 HH, $1 makes all the difference! The best part is that the HH is not limited to just bar seating. In fact, we were shown to the coziest corner seat towards the back of Le Song and was greeted by Leo, our server. He was not super attentive and we had to catch his eye a few times for refills, but when he was serving us, he was great! Really sweet guy. Loved the jazz band playing on Wednesdays as well. We both cycled through 2 glasses of HH wine (Sauvy B and Malbec) and was pleasantly surprised to see each HH wine clock in at just $5! Definite steal. We tipped 20% and happily went on our way. Beautifully decorated cozy space. Very quaint, especially if you get yourself a seat in the back by the windows, they have seats covered with pillows. I'm a sucker for soft seating and cute pillows. The food was great, especially lobster linguine. Love that they also have a door from the street, so you don't have to get out through the Cleese's Market if you don't want to. The negative can be that the service is super slooooow. And they don't really give too much attention, so if you need something - you need to flag them down. Both things don't bother me. We were not in a rush, we enjoyed our conversation, so we didn't bother chasing down our waitress for anything. But I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are in a rush. Came here for the happy hour oysters ($1 per oyster) and drinks. The place is very spacious so didn't have any problems finding a table. The oyster was decent for the price so can't really complain. They kindly sat us in a comfy nook area right away and we did not have to wait for the others to arrive. I love when restaurants do that. It really sucks when the rest of your party is running late, you can't get seated immediately and other parties start walking in while you're waiting. -Our server reminded us that happy hour was ending soon, but then said he would still charge our drinks happy hour even if our friends don't make it in time (SO nice of him!). He was just super chill the whole time and we really appreciated that. -Food was delicious! For appetizers we ordered calamari and roasted cauliflower. The ambiance at this place is really great and I like their cocktail menu. I was, however, really disappointed by their food. I ordered the croque madame and it came on a waffle (?????) Which if you can imagine, is not at all what I expected. Personally, it seemed a bit much as well to charge what they do for what seemed like one of two very thinly sliced ed pieces of han and some cheese sauce. Then when i got my bill, the items were marked up from the listed menu price. I asked why that was the case and they said they notate the item post tax.... my issue with this, however, is that the croque madame is $16 and change and I was charged $20 even. This would imply a 20% tax rate which is not at all the case. Not sure what they're doing there but I probably wouldn't go back unfortunately. read more

A lot of disappointment, but a ton of potential. In general, I found the food to be tasty and full of flavor. Each food item had all the right ingredients, perfectly seasoned. The grilled cheese and leek sandwich is one of the best I've had. Perfectly toasted brioche bread with nutty gruyere cheese and leeks. So rich, half is plenty. The french fries are made with fresh potatoes and a wonderful seasoning that was slightly salty and a little spicy. The grilled asparagus was perfectly food with light seasoning, lemon and olive oil. A true delight. Cocktails were tasty and the Grey Lady a unique spin on a classic drink. I'm sorry the nice food was marred by bad, slow service and an inconsistent kitchen. Our french fries all came out cold, the burger was undercooked and salad came instead of french fries. The cauliflower gratin never came and we were told it was because they had run out. The service was slow and unorganized, we had to wave down our server on multiple occasions. The food took way too long to arrive, and judging by the cold fries I'm guessing it was the server. If the disappointments could be fixed, Le Song could be a true winner. read more
