Beef tagine, vegetarian and a mint tea pot!
    Ed T.

Hidden away near Finsbury Park, Le Rif looks completely unassuming from the outside. It's a bit run down looking, not very modern and doesn't look like it's got much to offer. But in reality, Le Rif is actually incredible, for a number of reasons. Firstly, the owners are fantasically nice and friendly. They welcomed us in, sat us down and discussed the menu with some suggestions and were quick to bring us our drinks. Secondly, the food is SO good. Tagines galore, and while they may be precooked then heated up, if anything, this just adds to the flavour. They're all incredibly well spiced, seasoned and with a balance of the sweet fruits with the chilli and savoury spices. HUGE portions as well, I could barely finish my tagine and my girlfriend's vegetarian version was even bigger. Thirdly, the price. It's cheap here. As in, the most expensive food item is a lamb tagine and it's only £6. They didn't have it here unfortunately when I came, which actually resassures me that they don't just have loads of frozen portions/crappy quality meat they use. Instead I had a beef one that was melt in the mouth tender and beautiful. All in all, come here! During matches they put the game on the TV and locals come in to chat, relax and watch the game. But they're a friendly bunch so don't be put off!

Aubergine with spinach, fish and couscous! Yum!!!

Walking into a dark but very inviting Mediterranean hot spot not really knowing what to expect I was greeted by nothing but love by the owner who is also the front of the house host, waiter and historian on the food. He exudes passion for what he does; which providing a wonderful authentic Moroccan home cooked meal. His approach is to make you like a real friend or loved one. He did not let me down. The dishes presented themselves. He used authentic Moroccan crockery to prepare a present some of the most flavorful food I've ever experienced in the city of London. As I always say, I'll set your expectations for what you want as you come in to any place I write about. It's a small intimate dinning experience where you should bring friends and loved ones. The decor will take you to a different place, away from the hustle and bustle of London, to a foreign land that has exotic foods prepared with love and the ultimate patron experience in mind. I had Moroccan wine for the first time and wont be he last. It was absolutely fabulous, I wasn't sure what to expect but I have to put Spain on notice. I highly recommend the MD Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot which had a very nice overtones of earth and pepper. You have to check it out if you find yourself in London and looking for a new expirence.

The staff have always looked after me (most obvs because I was like their weekly bringing a gang with me each time lol). Their food is lovely and shisha is BOOM. It's the only place where parting with my money is okay for the experience - considering how expensive one is in Central London. From Irn Bru to Skittles, they've got a crazy range of flavours and so expect this place to always be busy. The sooner you get here, the better. Oh and I went here for New Years since they held an event, I danced my socks off in the later hours at this but it was so packed, my granny self probably can't handle it anymore :D

Ever since my trip to Marrakech I have developed a new appreciation for a good tagine so having the…read morechance to visit this newly refurbished restaurant/ shisha bar was great. I went there on Saturday afternoon for dinner. We had the lamb and the kofta tagines, the kofta was amazing, the lamb was ok but felt a little bit under seasoned. As sides we got the dolma and the calamari. The dolmas melted in your mouth and were pretty good (served warm as they should be). The calamari was a bit harder to chew so as a Greek person I would rate it ok but nothing great. The side sauce the starters came with was great though. After the food we decided to try the cocktails. I had the Guilty which tasted like alcoholic dessert, so right up my street, and I also tried the fireman, good for whiskey drinkers bit not really my cup of tea. In terms of atmosphere I think the restaurant tries to be more posh than it is but the massive screens with the football on everywhere you look are incongruous with the atmosphere they are trying to create. There is also a semi- outside area for shisha which feels more Moroccan but it was full of football fans and smoke. In general I think it's good enough but maybe not as authentic as it could have been and it could do with a few more authentic Moroccan dishes in the menu.
