This is a well tended heritage home turned into a castle of delights. With a manicured yard, small that it is. The entrance is on the back stoop, up several steps. It struck me that somebody has an excellent eye for designing and utilizing space. The rooms are filled with Christmas decorations and household decor, with a masculine spin, a lot of copper and stags. Displays throughout the house were lit with artificial candles, flickering enticingly. They also have regular candles. I did not note any smell while I was there. No fake perfume and scents cloying the air. Also no Santa Clause (...until one room on the 2nd floor. And then, it was tastefully done). The place is stock full with things making the clearance walking down the halls difficult if you're carrying anything. For everyone's safety, I set my stuff down and kept shopping. I would call it cluttered were it not so elegantly laid out. It's also clean. No dust to be seen. But I would be careful never to put my keys down out of fear I would not find them again. I was offered Meyer lemons on the way out from their trees. I am eager to return to see this wonderful little curio shop and will bring friends. read more

I was in Le Potager a couple months ago and found this awesome square planter. I wanted something for my office that would contrast nicely with my reclaimed wood sideboard. The planter is well made, with a small drain hole in the center. It also has an aged, moss exterior that makes it look like something you would find in a European/Italian Estate Garden. As always, John the owner was helpful, professional and very friendly. It is one of my favorite specialty shops to visit when I'm in the area. read more

Oh my goodness! I can't remember how I initially found this place online, but I've been on their mailing list for years. I was determined that on this trip to California, I would finally make it in. What a charming spot! When my GIS map guided me to this residential neighborhood, at first I was confused. I finally parked and got out to find it. The front is nearly hidden behind charming trailing vines, and you enter into a little courtyard full of goodies. The business is in a very quaint, very OLD 2-story house that sort of blends into the surrounding shade trees. The owner, John, gave me a friendly hello, and I proceeded to make a stack to ship home. A small hanging lantern, a light-up globe, several candles... There was so much gorgeous stuff I almost didn't know where to look first. I made several passes to make sure I caught everything. When I went to check out, we had a lovely chat. He found out I was from Canada and just visiting, and we had a nice long conversation about everything under the sun. I had the store to myself, so it was really nice. Will be returning whenever I get a chance! read more

I visited Le Potager for the first time today and had a truly wonderful experience. The shop is beautifully set up with so much thought put into everything. Each room has unique pieces (mostly handpicked or handmade), which is why I love to shop at small businesses versus big box stores. Being the first week of October, there were a lot of fall decorations out. A few rooms upstairs were filled with Christmas decorations. I also took a look at the garden area outside. I appreciated that the owner gave me the space and time to look at everything on my own but also was very helpful if I had any questions. I will definitely be back to add more beautiful decor for my home! read more

In the mood for a petite European villa with garden, but can't afford the flight? Don't fret. Just visit Le Potager. I drove from Laguna Beach to Fullerton just to visit this place. And it was so worth it. It is tucked away in a busy downtown street, and makes me think of a secret garden. Small, but oh so very charming. The freeway traffic melted away the moment I stepped through the gate and into a gorgeous courtyard stocked with boxwood--someone else loves formal boxwood, thank you! Flowers, running fountains, birds (because how could they resist?). The interior is just as charming. Downstairs, upstairs and a small "outside/inside" room. It appears to have originally been a house which the owners (husband and wife, I think?) converted into a shop; but a shop which could easily be a petite chateau tucked into the French countryside. To top it off, one of the owners was there and we chatted about sourcing statues and creating small gardens. She was pleasant and charming. She told me they have a service in which they will plan an entire garden/yard or come to an existing one to make suggestions. I plan to take her up on that. read more

Le Potager just finished our front yard and it looks awesome! From start to finish, this was a professional operation. They gave us a lot of great advice about the design process and managed the entire job. The owner has a good eye for design and was easy to work with. He totally gave me the look that I wanted, and used really good quality healthy plants and shrubs. I highly recommend this company and plan on using them to refresh our back yard as well! read more

I love, love, love the faulous arrangement that the owners of LePotager created for my home. Never, in twenty five years, has my home looked so beautiful. A friend stated that the centerpiece was absolutely breathtaking. That is the perfect word to descibe the work done by this store. My house now has that special look that it had lacked. Thanks to LePotager for the extra effort in ensuring perfection. For those who have not had the fortune to visit this store, GO! It is the most beautiful, romantic, unique store in Orange County. Have driven by this place for years and finally stopped since I was on this side of town. Saw a beautiful french writers desk I had been searching out for months. Why didn't I buy it? I was the ONLY one in the store after a few people left. Never a hello, welcome, how can I help you, not even a GOOD BYE. The guy just ignored me even though I intentionally walked past him twice. This store is a gem even though their inventory has gone WAY DOWN since the recesssion hit! It is worth a trip because the house is charming and vintage. They do carry beautiful "Frenchy" things, but the prices are very steep! You will probably become a regular if you are rolling in dough! I spend alot of time and money shopping, and I am not cheap, but their prices are too high! But don't take my word for it--go see for youself and see if you don't think their prices are quite steep! Maybe they'll start carrying more inventory, too, as the economy (hopefully) gets better. read more
