Thank you Ada Prengle. You are a Gem!! My two favorite bracelets broke. The jewelry store that was my go to went out of business during Covid. I was heartbroken. When dining at Mulberry Street Restaurant I parked in the Villa Del Sol parking lot. On the way back to my car I noticed a shop that looked to have vintage items. So happy I went in. Met Nancy the owner. Lovely, charming and fun conversationalist. She said she had a lady who repaired and made jewelry. I came back, met Ada and told her what I wanted which included some of Nancy's stock. We discussed how the new bracelets would look. She sent pictures via texts to show me the finished product. Better than the originals. Now my new go to place!!! Happy! Happy! Happy! read more

One of the most magical, thoughtfully curated shoppe of wonders and creative delights there has ever been! We happened to wander in 17 years ago, and Nancy and her curated magical shoppe changed our lives forever, as artists as well as personally. You'll find hats, sewing trim; sea shells, Victorian valentines and vintage ephemera. Such an interesting and unusual shop nowadays. My only problem with it is items I was interested in didn't have price tags on them so I had to ask an assistant every time I was interested in buying how much that item would be. read more

Gilding the Lily - Gorgeous treasures! - Jewelry Near Me - Fullerton, California

I can't believe that this jewel has existed in my back yard for so long and I didn't know about it. The great news is I stumbled upon it two weeks ago. My first trip I was there for almost three hours. Every time I turned my head I saw something else that grabbed my attention. It's not a bead store exclusively but the beads are beyond compare. It's not a "craft" store but more of an outstanding resource for those who have been creating wonderful things for years or the novice who wants to begin with greatness. You will see things that will stretch your imagination greatly. The owner has an eye for the distinctive and is extremely discerning. The antique beads alone are enough to set you back on your heels. Gilding the Lily will inspire you with their incredible selections. This is a must see, put Gilding the Lily on the top of your list. read more

I've been to this store several times. The owner is very knowledgeable and kind. She always wears a mask and requires masks to be worn in store, which is great considering the circumstances we are living in. The store is full of everything you can imagine: buttons, ribbon, thread, appliqués, jewelry, paper, etc. etc. All vintage. I spend several hours in here sometimes just looking at it all. You can open up cabinets and doors, finding even more goodies in every nook and cranny. Seriously, this place is an adventure and a treasure trove. If you are into unique and one-of-a-kind pieces, set aside a couple hours and support this amazing local business! read more

I have only been here one, but is was such a positive and inspiring experience that I feel like it deserves a review. This past weekend, I took my visiting mother and aunt here because they both loved to make their own jewelry. At first I was skeptical that we would find a lot since this place is a hole in the wall location, but as we spent a little more time looking around, we discovered that there were drawers and shelves of stuff here! It's a small store with a big bang hidden away, you just have to look for it! My mother and aunt ended up buyi g a bunch of delicate, intricate appliqués and beads. They weren't expecting to find so many things they loved either! All in all, I met the owner of the shop I believe and she was very informational and actually inspired me to start making jewelry with found vintage supplies and details. Ever since my visit here, I have been pumped to go back for more! If you're looking for a new "treasure" to discover over and over, make your way to this lovely store. From what the owner had also mentioned to me, there are classes offered as well! read more

What a monumental find this place is for those looking for quality beads and findings. Gorgeous, unique, and even vintage pieces that had me drooling. I could have stayed there all day. I had a hard time to find this place Gilding The Lily and I finally found this place. The Boutique Shop was pretty and beautiful jewelries and some other items. It was overwhelmed because there so many different kind of stones, beads and ect. I met the owner of the Boutique Shop and we had a good conversation talking about hobby making jewelries and as a same time she show me her beautiful jewelry that she design. The Boutique Shop is cozy and clean, she was friendly and healthful. read more

Favorite place ever! I just love the whole feel of the store. So much to look at! It seemed a bit intimidating at first. I wasn't sure "how" to shop there. But after realizing that they have beads, buttons, and other fun stuff in various cabinets, and that yes, it's ok to go through those cabinets, then I relaxed. I think the owner or employee should say "feel free to look through all the cabinets" when you walk in. Lol, I know it sounds silly, but it's hard to recognize that these cabinets actually have product, since they are all different and antique cabinets. I thought they were just displaying the stuff sitting on top, at first. Anyway, if you love vintage jewelry-making supplies, shop here! It is difficult to book a class, since they are so popular and this makes me sad. read more

I LOVE this place. The owner has helped me many times with my various odd projects (which aren't jewelry related). This is the go to place for vintage feathers, ribbon and buttons. The beads are fantastic, both new and vintage. Plan on spending some time here if you do stop in, there is plenty to look at! read more

Gilding the Lily is a fun little store in Fullerton, CA that I fell in love with in an instant. There is so much to see in this compact space, that your eyes dart everywhere. The merchandise is always changing, and the classes are fabulous. I only wish I could be there all the time. Vintage papers, flowers, hats, beads, ribbon and trim to name a few items available. Jewelry abounds and Thursday evening is the open studio for all who want to join in the sisterhood of artists. I can't say enough about this wonderful little shop and hope everyone visits Nancy, and sees all her wonderful creations. read more

If you love vintage one of a kind creative pieces this is the place for you! This is a true gem for LA and Orange County. Nancy features creative elements in jewelry, millinery, old trims, lace, buttons, and more! She is also extremely knowledgeable about her wares. If you are creative, artistic, or simple love the things from days one by, this is a MUST SEE! The only place I know of that could be considered a similar store, is French General in LA. Big difference being... what you want at FG isn't for sale. BUT that's exactly what Nancy deal exclusively in! Run, don't walk!!! read more

OK all my altered art friends... this store is a big ole' OMG of vintagey goodness... Hundreds of vintage french ribbons, jewelry findings, hats, millnery flowers and bolts of hat netting. German glass glitter for $2 a scoop, oodles of vintage buttons and religious medals rhinestone jewelry, pearls, vintage beads. I mean this place is one of those stores you can drop an easy $500 and not even blink. Her prices are a little high compared to an estate sale, but the selection she has under one roof makes it so easy to just get what you need. These are things you just can't go to Michaels and pick up when you need them. If you are anywhere near OC or if you are going to Disneyland, make a stop here... It is down Harbor a few miles from D-land and WELL worth the trip. By far one of my favorite stores I have found here in the southland... I love it as much as Castle in the Air in Berkeley, (well, maybe a bit better actually.) They teach high quality classes at an off site studio, Check out their blog for class schedules, or call and get on the mailing list. read more

I love this shop! What a great resource for vintage embellishments for needle workers. I found a spool of silver metal cord that's perfect for couching on my latest project. The shop is packed full of ribbon, buttons, charms and much, much more. The vintage hats are a treasure for costumers and my friends liked the quirky purses. I plan on using the buttons I bought on my needlepoint, cross stitch and penny rug pieces that I'm finishing up. The prices are reasonable and the variety truly astounding. The setting of the shop in downtown Fullerton is quite cute and there's lots of really great restaurants within walking distance. Well worth the trip for out of towners. I'm so glad I found the shop as the only comparable shop that I've been to is in Portland, Oregon. read more
