The store has a huge variety of antiques, so it was a delightful surprise to see that they also carry jewelry. The owner of the store was in the day I was there and she is very helpful and knowledgeable. I haven't stopped thinking about this place since I left it was very hard to narrow down to just the few beautiful pieces that I bought... there really is so much! I usually don't review places like this, but I had to make an exception because of the excellent customer service I received. I may not remember the woman's name in regards to who attended me, but she's the reason why I write this. The store was clean and easy to walk through -- something many antique shops unfortunately lack. The items were all reasonably priced too! I understand wanting a profit, but some places price things up like there's no tomorrow. Not here. You genuinely get what you pay for. They offered a wide variety of items and all were placed in reasonable places (some shops have the problem of putting things wherever making it harder to navigate around.) My boyfriend and I came in the other day and whatever we wanted to look at, the associate immediately offered to show in person and helped out with any questions we had. I really like the way they sell so many high end large furniture pieces. Very good quality and well worth the money. Some from France and many dating back over 100 years ago. Customer service from the ladies working there was very unwelcoming and unprofessional was a very disappointing experience.

Increased the price in an hour. I saw their booth at the Palm Springs Modernism Show and saw a bracelet I liked. I asked the price and told them I would be back. I always give myself a little time to think over a purchase so returned an hour later and they increased the price over 40%! The old man claimed they gave me the wrong price and he weighed the gold and that was the true value of the bracelet. No sorry no negotiation, just shrugged his shoulders and says everyone makes mistakes. I think he thought because I returned he could squeeze more money out of me. No thank you! George's is like a toy store for lovers of old, quality, and unusual things. I have purchased jewelry and a variety of small, fascinating pieces over the years. I'm always intrigued by the gorgeous, quality furniture and go there first when looking for something that is not run-of-the-mill. Brenda is very very nice and super knowledgeable and honest. She has bought pieces from me over the years and I've always felt that our dealings were very fair. I send my friends to her when they have an antique piece they want to sell because I trust her. So many antique stores feel like junk stores, that's not what this one feels like whatsoever. George had the classic vibe of "buy cheap, make money". Was eager to show up to see our stuff that was outside the house, made some confusing comments and pretended he had to ask a third party to purchase. Was pressing to see more stuff and enter the house. Wouldn't give me a straight answer until I contacted him again two days late when he made disparaging comments about the item, although he saw it in photos, it was authenticated and he clearly just didn't want to/couldn't pay the price. read more

We searched out and talked to a number of Southland antique stores in an effort to identify what to us was a family heirloom. Nobody we called gave us any information. Then we called George's Antique. We texted Brenda some pictures and she not only identified the Sidebar Buffet from the Depression Era, but provided a number of hints to better understand the quality of the piece we owned while we waited for George to get back to the store. Our buffet was not something worth a lot, but we now know exactly what we have and appreciate that we were provided the info without even having to ask. Brenda even gave us some tips for improving the finish. These people appeared to us to like these old pieces of furniture for the way they were well crafted and appreciated by families that owned them for generations. If you're looking for authentic antique furniture, then this is your place. If you're just someone that enjoys looking for odds and ends or cool little trinkets- this is not the place for you. We stumbled on this place while driving down Commonwealth and thought we should stop by and see what they had. The store was big, so we thought we might find something cool. Like I said, a lot of furniture and some paintings- but nothing to write home about. Even the small paintings and pieces of art were in the $500+ range. I'm more of a dig through the stuff until you find some cool treasures kind of guy. I didn't get that experience here. read more

This is one of our favorite places in the world! The staff are so friendly and helpful, always willing to discuss the pieces you are interested in and give you plenty of time and space to decide if you are going to take them home. The items here are treasures! If you are searching for a place to just pick through bargains, George's probably isn't for you. The pieces are upscale, rare and incredibly special. To walk through George's is to take a trip back in time, to visit with familial heirlooms waiting for a new home that will cherish them as the former did. You can spend hours in here simply strolling about visiting with history. And I truly believe there is something for everyone here. Yes, some of the pieces are very expensive (because of their rarity and condition), but the staff will always kindly give you a discount at check-out. That is one of the things that keeps my family coming back to George's. They really, truly appreciate our business. Each year at Christmas time, my husband, daughter and I come here and buy gifts for one another. We are assured of finding and receiving something rare, beautiful and steeped in history. I am in the process of moving and called George's Antiques and was really excited to hear that they are interested in buying Vintage items. When I talked to George over the phone, he was enthusiastic about coming out to see my vintage pieces. I explained to him over the phone what items I have and he led me to believe that he would be interested in buying some items. When he came over, I had all my items laid out for him to see and he was here less than 10 minutes and looked at a few things and quickly said he was not interested in anything. I said what about the items you haven't looked at, especially the items we discussed over the phone, and he again claimed he was not interested and he quickly left. My biggest complaint is don't lead people on that you are interested in buying some vintage items on the phone and then waste my time by not even looking at the items when you come out, especially when a I am busy packing. I only gave 2 stars because he made the effort to come out to my house, which only made me believe he was really interested. What a waste of time! read more
