That sense is not wrong: you are. The menus (one a tasting menu, the other a la carte), are very inventive and rapidly cause glands to salivate. Clever mix of ingredients & cooking forms, and plenty of delicious options to choose from. The wine menu was robust, well-balanced for palates & dishes ordered, and had a comprehensive list of reasonably priced bottles. (We had the Gigondas: absolutely lovely) The dishes were amazing! Linguine w/ black truffles (divine), seared sea bass (more divine), braised short ribs (diviner (?) ), etc.. The cheese cart was sublime, with an excellent selection. The banana souffle tasted as magnificent as it looked. The service at La Trompette is exemplary. We were waited on impeccably, and just enough. If i had to suggest any improvements, it would be 1) serve crustier bread, and more than one option ( the bread served was fine, but the center was spongy), and 2) the toasts for the cheese crumbled into small pieces instantly (fortunately, I like getting my hands dirty with cheese..) I highly recommend La Trompette. Go. Often.

Maybe I do not speak posh. The mozarella was freezing cold, the bread was kind-of-warm and the full thing was full of salt. The chips looked really cheap, but the price wasn't. The service was slow and they need to think about team work, it can't be you have to ask for the same thing several times to different members of staff. My napkin had a massive stain (see pictures) that I can't believe they did not see when folding. Really, why oh why is everbody eating there when its not good?Just to pretend you are ultracool. Yes, this place has the looks, but that's all.

First course salads were good but mains were really poorly put together, ingredients not fresh, and portions small. Worthy of note: On one of the dishes they ran out of the side, so offered us a choice, we said that the chef should decide, but unfortunately what they chose wasn't to our liking, so we asked for green beans to fix it, and to our surprise, were charged for it! Asked to remove the charge when the bill came, and it was done, however the manager was visibly "peeved" at the request. This is normal in other countries, and at their location in the new Fulham Reach development they are serving international clientele, so perhaps attitude adjustment is in order? Puddings were not worth even the reduced set menu prices, and one was particularly bad where cold canned pears were used. Seriously??? Why even bother having the set menu, not sure. It needs to be really good to bring people back, not make them stay away...strange... Staff is nice and welcoming. Dog friendly section is a big plus. We may give it another try in the future and order from the regular menu, to see if it is better than a budget option. Sadly, absolutely do not recommend the set menu though.

With many good reviews and awards with a highly acclaimed chef, this is one of the best places to eat in Chiswick and might even give some of the more famous restaurants a go for there money ? Chef Malcolm John says that they use organic produce wherever possible and only source the very best meat and fish. They have regular gala evenings where they showcase seasonal produce and it is normally a fixed piece for the evening and is normally accompanied by a wine tasting session also. Service can be a little pushed at times but with a great wine list I was certainly not in a rush and the wait for my steak was well worth it.

Mussels were on special this day, and seemed to be worth a try. I didn't go for mussels but had a feeling it would have been a good French traditional experience, as I saw a lady sitting at the table nearby being served a steaming pot full of mussels which looks quite exciting and smelled delicious. They also offer a fixed price menu for £17.50 containing a 3 course meal and possibility to choose between three options for each course. For a starter I took a cream of broccoli soup with flaked almonds which was delicious. I went for a braised pork belly and cheek with macaroni à l'ancienne as a main. The pork is not normally my meat of preference, but i quite enjoyed this dish as the pork was really nice and tender. I was not so sure about the macaroni though. We shared two dessers with my sputnik: bay leaf ice cream and a mandarin sorbet. I was not sure what to expect from bay leaf ice cream and was pleasantly surprised by the taste which was not too sweet. I was pleased with the service, the staff is caring and happy to give advice on the dishes. Before leaving I got a little present from the restaurant in a form of a few biscuits nicely wrapped. It was a cute unexpected gest.
