Le P'Tit Resto is a fantastic little neighborhood bistro, slightly outside of town, that is always filled with locals and repeat customers. It is also popular with the large British community in Menton. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team: Andre and Florence. He cooks, she does everything else. I have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed.
As for recommended dishes, the Salmon, Sole Meuniere and the grilled Swordfish are all excellent. As is the Duck. But the thing to check is the Plat du Jour. During my latest stay, I enjoyed a Cod Provencal and their take on a Cassoulet (which included more kinds of pork than you could count). And don't even bother looking at the wine list as the house wine is always excellent.
Prices are reasonable and the service is very friendly. Only downside is that Florence is the only one working the floor, so when the restaurant fills up and things get busy, service can get a bit slow. Without a doubt, this is one of the best restaurants not just in Menton, but in the entire region. So, if you have to wait a bit to place your order, don't worry. The food is well worth the wait!
One word of caution, the place is small and fills up quickly, so it is a good idea to book a table in advance, especially if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. Otherwise, get there about 7pm when they open up. The outside tables are usually set aside for last minute arrivals and you might be able to snag one of them. read more
