I came in as a walk-in for a basic pedicure and was paired with Linda. I was very explicit in asking her not to cut or file my nails down to the "nub," and while she nodded and seemed to understand, she did the exact opposite. Beyond the length, she clipped away at my cuticles for so long that they are now extremely raw, partially bleeding, and so sore that I can't even stand in the shower without stinging pain. My biggest concern now is the risk of infection given how deep she clipped into the skin. While Linda was very nice, she didn't follow my simple instructions, and I left with damaged, vulnerable skin instead of a relaxing service. I like the atmosphere here, but the lack of care for my physical comfort was a major issue. *Please note that photos of ankle scar is caused by a previous operation, the zoomed in photo is where you can see the new open wounds the salon left from aggressively scrubbing with a dry, hard (& cheap) sponge.*

Then the next day one of the hombre nails peeled and two were chipped. Just not worth.

My pedicure at points was painful. Towels WAY too hot. His hands were not steady. It didn't help that the nippers were dull and wouldn't cut my toenails. Then he used the same ones on the skin. Not great. He swapped out for a younger lady to paint my gel polish. Unfriendly to say the least, but the worst part was the polish. Base coat was fine. The she applied 4 layers of gel polish plus a top coat. WAY too thick. Then at the end she took out the file and started filing the front of the nails and sides. At that point I knew something was going to be wrong. I didn't notice until I left and had time to actually look at the polish but it was lumpy (not suprizing with so many coats) and there were areas with no polish and areas with streaks. Worst of all was the dull, uncoated areas that she filled off. If you don't know, when you file gel and don't reapply a top coat that is what makes it chip. I've been a licensed cosmetologist for 25 years.

My usual nail tech had abandoned me to help THREE other customers that came in after me. Kevin helped me today and I know now that I should've walked out when he sat down. He cut into my nail with cuticle cutters, he made my nails extremely lumpy and when I asked him to thicken it because I could feel my actual nail he got an attitude. He cut me with the nail drill and didn't do anything about it. Not to mention the fact that my nails are lumpy, droopy, none are the same shape, and the end of my nails aren't straight. If I could personally give Kevin a Yelp review for the nails he gave me today, I would give him negative 3 stars. My nails are my confidence and these are just making me depressed.

After 3 weeks the gel on my toes is cracking. (In the past, I've always skipped over it because you can see through the front that almost every chair is full, and I'm generally not good about getting appt) I had a French manicure w/SNS, and it was the best I've ever had in my life, in Vestavia or anywhere! It lasted a full month looking perfect. Thought maybe it was just a fluke-- they weren't busy and the person really took their time and that's why it lasted... nope, have had 2 other manicures here and both times I have been astonished at how well they hold up.
