The incredible magret de canard with apple compote topped with foie gras poêlé
Anneke D.

The magret de canard on apple compote topped with foie gras is incredible. My partner and I come here often for just that and a carafe of wine. If we're really hungry, we'll also get the charcuterie and cheese platter (beware: a half portion is sufficient enough for two! We once ordered the full portion between the two of us and had enough leftovers for a picnic the following day). The staff is kind, the prices reasonable, and all the food we've tried has been excellent. Perfectly cooked meats, tasty fish, excellent sauce and scrumptious salads. Be sure to try the specials! On Valentine's day they had a side of beef for two with gratin. Even with help from another couple, we were unable to finish the beef and had to take it home. (I should note that the only downside to this meal was the gratin, which was a bit dry). I haven't had such luck with dessert. Each time, I've found the desserts a bit too sweet or too rich. My dining companions, who are more into desserts than I am, have generally shared my opinion. Come on Thursdays for jazz night, and try to get a seat away from the window in the winter--it's not totally insulated.

The Dorado Fish special and Lamb Shank. Both excellent.

Fantastic little gem in the city. We went there on a Yelp whim and were very pleased. The lamb shank was outstanding. The Dorado fish special was perfectly cooked and flavoured and the creme brûlée was 3 flavours, all exquisite. Very affordably priced which is rare in this city. And friendly staff to boot.

Came here for dinner on our first night in Paris. The food was really good. Service great and our waiter was really helpful explaining the menu to us in English. Really appreciated the time he took to help us. The owner was there and he was really nice. I really recommend this restaurant. Food is excellent.

The food is so good here that we would come back again if we visit Paris next time. We came here based on the Yelp reviews and we wanted to try restaurants that had less tourists and where local people would come too.

The most life- changing experience with French cuisine. This is what French culinary dreams are…read moremade of. Get the appetizer grilled foie gras with side of greens, you won't regret it. The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

This place was a huge letdown. They had a cute little artisanal market on the front left of the…read morerestaurant. They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

Plus, what he prepared was delicious! We started with the ravioli appetizer we see so often recommended. Excellent! Dinners were a beef dish and a chicken dish. Both were amazing! In addition, dessert featuring a pear mouse was wonderful! Prices are for the good and wines were very fair. As you can guess, we highly recommend La Cordonnerie!

There are two tables essentially in the kitchen (a true "Chef's Table" arrangement) and maybe 6 tables in the adjoining room. We were welcomed warmly. Deborah was the hostess and server. Chef Hugo is visible in the kitchen, working very hard to make everything just perfect. They brought bread immediately (my husband loved the sliced baguette--it was perfect and chewy as it should be, but not hard). We ordered a bottle of wine, a Macon Villages, which was perfect. I had the cucumber salad appetizer, which was so fresh. My husband ordered the ravioli appetizer--tiny little rectangles in a scrumptious sauce--a work of art. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate. The sauce was amazing and it was a huge portion of tender white fish. My husband had the lamb with frites. It was nicely seasoned & perfectly done. For dessert, my husband enjoyed a chocolate treat and I had refreshing raspberry sorbet. Deborah was so friendly and solicitous throughout the meal. I have never felt so well taken care of. (I have seen some comments from people who are unhappy that they can't just walk in. They don't appear to understand that there is only one seating. People arrive when they do and they linger. Empty tables seen from the street do not mean the place is not fully booked. Make a reservation well ahead of time. It is worth it!)
