A pleasant place I plan to go back to. I spend my winters in the south of France and their pastries were on par with what I had in France. Favorite bakery I've been to in Winnipeg so far. Walkable from where I was at and beautiful storefront. The bakery had a great atmosphere and someone kindly offered me a seat when the cafe seating was full. I was overwhelmed by the mixture of sweet / savory pastry, traditional / non traditional and eventually chose an almond croissant. It was perfect. I ended up coming back that evening (they have great hours that extend into the pm) and had focaccia sandwiches. I can't wait to come back. read more

I love this French bakery because I love their croissants!!!! I haven't been here since 2009 but I was in the area recently and went in for a caloric splurge! This bakery does not have the best hours...at least for non-morning people like me. They are closed by 1 pm on weekdays meaning that when you show up at 12:45 pm, like I did one time, there were no plain croissants left, only pain au chocolat. Not terrible but let's just say you have to go early to ensure that you have a selection to choose from. The croissants are absolutely divine - perfectly crisp exterior, nice butter flavour and a nice fluffy interior. Some croissant interiors can be quite hollow but this one is not like that at all! At $1.80 each and a million calories...it's definitely worth eating 1 or 2 in one sitting. Okay, I had 2...but they were so good and I worked out for 90 mins the day before (or so I justified to myself). LOL. They also serve up other croissant flavours like almond, cheese (mozzarella), and chocolate ($2.80 each). The pain au chocolate is a nice dark chocolate and very lovely. They also make mini desserts, loafs, cookies and palmiers (lots of palmiers). They also sell cheese and pate. I had a yummy quiche like item, even though it was not a quiche. It had a light pastry shell and it was filled with cheese and tomatoes ($3.50). Very simple but very yummy. This chocolate item (see pic) was $5 and very small but very rich. It was like chocolate ganache, not cake like at all. It was sweet but not overly so but two bites was enough for me. Service is friendly and bilingual. Just make sure you go early in the day! Ok, so this is the first time we purchased something. We were here before mid January and they were closed due to their expansion! I've had my fair share of delicious croissant and this ranks up there. I have to admit the very best croissant I've ever had was in DisneyWorld in Epcot at one of the French bakery. I'm still dreaming about that one! :) But this is just as goo-ood! As you walked in, there isn't much out but you can tell everything is pretty much fresh. Lots of sweet treats are out on displayed. And as you looked behind the cashier, the freshly made croissants are there!! **Jumping up an down like a little girl** We got there kind of early, around 9am on a Sunday morning and there were plenty of selections. They had plain, ham and cheese, raspberry, cheese, almond, almond with fruits croissants and a few others that I can not remember at the moment. Here are my ratings of what we had: Plain croissant: 5, you can really taste the buttery-ness of it! Raspberry croissant: 5, since one of the most pickiest toddler ate it all. Almond croissant: 5, love the texture and the buttery almond spread inside gave it a sweet tasting like a danish without all the sugary taste. Almond with fruit croissant: 5, hands down. Add a little fruity-sweetness to it without being too sweet. And the fact that this one just came freshly and warm out of the oven was a bonus! Overall, we will surely be back since we only have a little over three weeks left here in Winnipeg. So, if you're ever in the area or visiting and want some delish croissant, Le Croissant is a must! :) read more

I love this little bakery! Everything is so fresh and delicious! I stop in whenever I can.

They refuse service to customers who come in with leashed dogs. I understand that large breeds can be an issue. But when the dogs are small and well behaved, there is no rhyme or reason for that kind of policy. Another issue is the fact they are only opened 8 am - 1 pm. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. read more
