Since we were staying around the corner from there. I asked the guy if I can get take out. He did me a favor and was able to accommodate that. I saw a "take away available" sign hidden when I was waiting for my order, so I am pretty sure that they weren't taking take out orders either. We took it back to our Airbnb, and it was so yummy. We got the Munster and the Gratinée. I'm so glad that we were able to try this place during our trip. Thank you so much to the kind staff who was able to accommodate my take out order. My son ordered a ham hock dish--amazed to have something people at home use to flavor greens made into a signature-level dish...falling off the bone, tender as can be, perfectly seasoned. I had the baeckoffe (like a casserole), which was also delectable, but I remain envious of that ham! Ambience is beautiful. The interior has an old world, classic feel. Outside is the usual European patio right next the the bustling sidewalk...the essence of relaxation. Service is fantastic. Helpful and knowledgeable. The flourless chocolate cake was hands down the most delicious version I've ever had, made with the silkiest chocolate and infused with orange flavor. I had just gotten off a redeye and would have passed out in the restaurant if I had taken as little as a sip of wine, but if I were to have this cheese plate again, I'd definitely order a glass of wine with it. This pork lover's plate not only lives up to our expectations but also far surpasses them! Never would I ever have expected to say such a phrase, as this is the best sauerkraurt I have ever had. With thinly shredded cabbage that wasn't too sour, it complemented the meat on this plate like they meant to do one another. Tips and tricks! Make a reservation. We were happy to stumble on L'Amandine as we walked by St. Martin's church, the beautiful Gothic cathedral in the center of town. The restaurant was big, and we noticed people eating pasta on the patio. It was 5:45 and we decided to take the opportunity to stuff the children with easy carbs. The interior was spacious, and we were able to walk in and grab a cozy table towards the back of the dining room. The restaurant filled up while we were there, and the atmosphere was kind of fun and festive. The boys went a little crazy at the end, and it was loud enough that their noise level wasn't a problem. My three-year-old lying on the floor, though, was, and at one point, our waiter got impatient and moved him out of the way. Understandable, and service was otherwise pretty friendly, if inattentive. My mom and I shared a burger, which was decent, with a beef patty, cheddar, gherkins, tomato, onion, and burger sauce, and a little onion ring on top. It came with fries, which were also fairly satisfying. More importantly, the kids got a heap of spaghetti with butter, plus apple juice and hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for dessert.
