Walked into Chez Moi, and asked the welcoming bartender about Le Boudoir. He played into the mystery of this little speakeasy, and coyly asked, "What? Le Boudoir?" After our brief tete-a-tete, he smiled and pointed me to the door behind the host stand. No reservation? No problem. There are a few seats at the bar and along the wall as well as a bit of standing room, but once a booth is vacated, you're seated fairly quickly depending the queue. We didn't have to wait very long before this happened. The bar itself is themed after Marie Antoinette's chambers, and it's cute. The contemporary music tends to take you out of it, but it helps keep the atmosphere more lively than stuffy. The drinks menu is divided into the Inner Circle (lighter drinks) and the Outsiders (more alcohol-forward). I opted for something lighter after a heavy dinner and ordered the Du Barry. A perfect summer drink, it was fruity without being overly sweet. For the men whose manhood are easily offended by certain glassware, this one comes in a frilly glass. My friend ordered the Epice with gin, and it was much more interesting. The celery bitters gave it a very herby kick, which is or isn't some people's thing. Overall, this is a good neighborhood spot that's nice to have in your back pocket for certain occasions or out-of-towners. I'm not sure it begs repeat visits otherwise but definitely worth checking out. read more

Really neat space tucked away in a secret hideout. Drinks are delicious... we came in ready to have one and leave and ended up having 3 and some snacks along with it. Bartender, Mark, was fun, a great conversationalist, and super fast with his service too! read more

I have been here four times (live in the neighborhood) and always disappointed. It's a cool space, but the drinks have never been impressive - lots of sweet cocktails that don't feel very spirit-forward. Twice I have had very poor service. One time the drinks took almost an hour and the waiter had clearly been drinking and dropped my drink on the ground. Maybe I'll give it another chance sometime, but for now there are other great cocktail bars in the area I would go to first. The drinks need to be the anchor for a bar like this - having a fun, trendy decor may be enough to bring in tourists sometimes but isnt enough to keep me coming back consistently. read more

One word. SEXY! This place is definitely something different. I've been to a lot of bars and lounges that have been, you know, "the usual" but this place not only is it in a basement, but secluded, music is AMAZING. I was there this past weekend and they played all the best oldies, from George Michael, to freestyle, etc..... it's dark and velvety. Red velvet to be exact. It's somewhat small but a great place to get away and dance. Unfortunately I have no pictures to share because it's always dark lol. read more

Le Boudoir - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Beautiful venue, classy drinks and a flair for the romantic. We went on election night to pretend our country wasn't sinking under an accumulation of ego. Except for a Portuguese lady yelling into her phone, we were the only ones there to enjoy the solitude of political ignorance. In reality, it was a late birthday celebration for two and a handful of crickets. Delightful and intimate. Thumbs up. read more

Drinks: 4.5 Decor: 4.5 Ambiance: 5 Service: 5 Value: 5 This is a really cool little gem. Prices are well under what you would expect for a renowned cocktail in NYC. The drinks are delicious, and the vibe is really fun. Service is great as well. Only thing I would change would be the early 80's mostly cheesy soundtrack. read more

Brought the wife here. Very laid back and romantic. Seating is limited so arrive at the right time. Drinks were amazing. Staff was friendly. Couldn't find the place at first. Walked in Chez Moi and was lead downstairs to Le Boudoir. read more

If you're in the area, this is a quaint spot to visit. We popped in after having pizza near the water. They have a piano but no one was playing it - would be nice if they did. Cocktails are nicely made and presented in glassware that takes you back to the age of Marie Antoinette (the goal of the location). We tried the sparkling rose (standard) and the Dubarry cocktail (slightly too sweet for my liking which was surprising given it's made with bourbon) but nice. They have limited bar seating, some booths, and a few couches. Lighting is intimate. Bathrooms are a bit interesting but perhaps I'm just put off by wooden toilet seats... some things don't need to be 'authentic'. read more

Looking for a speakeasy, well look no further. It's a little off the beat and path, but totally worth the walk. Vibe is very nice, music is good, and Mark makes great drinks! Going to check this place out again very soon. read more

The atmosphere of this place is super cool. Also the entrance through a book case in the main resteraunt is a nice touch. Now for the drinks. The first time I went I had just cocktails. They were okay. The presentation is amazing with goblets and fancy glasses. The drinks however missed the mark for me in flavor and uniqueness. They were not bad, however. Fast forward a few months. Huge difference. They had more drinks on the menu and some new ones. They were excellent. I can't remember the names but every one was perfectly balence and unique. So I will definitely be back. In addition I believe they have live music. Also the fact they are using a real piano versus a keyboard like some spots is a plus. Finally the second time I tried the food. It was so good!! The "frogs legs" were delicious. So definitely give this place a try if you are in the area. read more

Great little speakeasy spot in a trendy area of Brooklyn. I had dinner at Chez Moi the previous week and spotted Le Boudoir as were were heading home but promised to check it out another time and that time came literally within a week. 4 of us arrived at the bar before 10pm. The place wasn't very busy and we got greeted by a friendly mixologists behind the bar. A lovely waitress escorted us to a nice table. I ordered the chilli vodka cocktail which was truly delicious with a creamy texture and a little kick of spice. My friends however decided to be traditional and asked for espresso martinis off the menus. Mixologist agreed to make them however it's taken them at least 15min to do that. The very sweet waitress apologised for the delay and explained that they had to fetch coffee from their restaurant upstairs or something like that. It seemed to us that they travelled to South America to do so...Cocktails were very good though therefore we ordered another round which came much quicker this time. The space is very stylish and lighting dimmed. Despite a slightly slow start we still though the service was very good. Sadly they don't accept Amex just so you're aware. We shall return. read more

Beautiful decor, classy drinks, but inattentive staff. Came here with female coworkers and our client on a Monday night to listen to music. It was pretty nice at first and the drinks were pretty good. We were basically ignored by the waitress, taking 45 min with all three of us trying to flag her down to get the check. Seems like we were in her blind spot. Also, really COLD inside this basement so bring a coat! read more

I was excited about visiting this spot and am leaving completely disappointed. My guest waited over 45 minutes for a seat in the lounge and when we were sat, received service so mediocre, it's an overstatement. One of the servers was a sweetheart but incessantly asked us what more we wanted after having order wine, cocktails, food and snacks. The cocktail was beyond underwhelming and the best beverage I had was the Lambrusco by the glass. Overall, I just can't fairly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great night out in Brooklyn. read more

I already called for reservation, but the guy said first come first served. Why I arrived there I couldn't get the table for all night even if they have many table are available? Why I just sat no longer than 9:00pm!! Waitress, tall and long hair is very nice, the other I think they pick customer by nationality or appearance!! Moreover, the cocktail is so so. Im so disappointed. read more

Very discreet speakeasy. The drinks are very interesting and delicious. The place is a bit dark but overall very trendy m.

Amazing amazing amazing! Would recommend 10000% the hospitality is great, went for my 21st birthday and wow! The bar tender and the waitress/ server was honestly the best! Treated us like family and made us feel at home. Loved the asthetic of the place. This place is definitely worth it read more

Great speakeasy-style cocktail bar. Enter through a secret bookshelf inside Chez Moi, the restaurant above. Beautiful decor, dimly lit ambiance, cool private space in the back - and definitely check out the bathrooms... Drinks were creative and delicious. Will definitely be returning! read more

A great speakeasy modeled after Marie Antoinette's hidden room in Versailles. They have live jazz on Mondays and a DJ on the weekends. Red velvet couches and dim buffet lamp lighting make the scene. One of the best bars I've been to in NYC. Make reservations first. They have a nice private section in the back, try to reserve that for a group of ten and under. read more

Had a lovely evening here after eating at the French restaurant upstairs (Chez Moi). The vibe is a really fun take on Marie Antoinette's boudoir. The dark, cavernous vibe and the dark red velvet settees really pay-off the feeling. The Monday night we were there, a band was playing some perfectly appropriate 30s jazz band style music, but using hits from throughout time. We had a lovely evening and will definitely go back. They also have a neat back room that would be good for a gathering of 10-12 people. Apparently it has some old MTA related history. read more

This chic speakeasy style bar was classy and subdued. The stylings were beautiful and the bartender and service were outstanding. The drinks had a lot of different ingredients that I wasn't familiar with but still enjoyed. One friend got a drink that was a little too strong for her taste and the bartender gave her a different one with no hesitation when he noticed she wasn't drinking it. Definitely worth popping in if in the area. Warning: there is little to no service in this place. Nice for being left alone not great for a first date or someone who has kids at home that might need an emergency call. read more

Tucked under Chez Moi, through a bookshelf door filled with red books, down a steep set of winding stairs, is a buried, not-so-secret hideout filled with strange cocktails, metal chalices, and plush velvet booths. On a Thursday, after waiting at the bar upstairs for 15 minutes, we were told our table was ready and were led downstairs. The crowd is eclectic, mostly local, and the ambiance is somewhere between elegant, private mansion basement bar and buzzing, kitschy, red speakeasy. On this particular night the staff timed the seating so that the room was perfectly alive and intimate. The menu is extensive, including some expensive bar snacks, but it seems people come here for the cocktails, served in a variety of metal and glassware. There are about 20 drinks, made from relatively innovative and enticing combos of absinthe, tequila, sherry, rum, sunflower seed infused whiskey, and varieties of vermouth, and crafted just about perfectly. I ordered The 1793, the one with the sunflower seed infused rye and sherry, and could instantly appreciate the odd but perfectly matched parts. The place is exceedingly cool, drinks are cocktail priced, all around $13, service is outstanding, and there is live music on Mondays. But the reasons I will go back are the refined yet immediately comfortable atmosphere, and a crowd that makes it a slightly surreal, comfortable escape from whatever you need to get away from upstairs. read more

Loved the whole experience. Entering through the bookcase was fun and unique, the decor is romantic and the drinks were good. We came in on a Wednesday night and it wasn't packed which was nice. It gave us a chance to conversate with the bartender who was great and gave us tips on places to visit in the area. We had a great time! read more

I like this place. Like really really like this place. I found it on the trusty Yelp site ( I'm sure you've heard of yelp ;D) And decided to come here with some friends for a nice night cap. Thoroughly enjoyed the 'Entrance' leading to the bar and the amazing live music that we were immersed in. The decor is really dim and intimate and the drinks are numerous and tasty. I suggest the French 75 personally, but we all have different tastes of course. I will definitely come back as my friends raved about the spot and I too had a great time. read more

Live music on a Monday night in a gorgeous boudoir-style setting with a great selection of cocktails but also beer and wines. At least when we went, it wasn't as busy as some of the other cocktail bars along this section of Atlantic Avenue (maybe because it's more hidden away), so we even managed to get one of their comfortable booths. read more

Ah, Le Boudoir! I am so lucky to have you walking distance from my apartment. Located in Chez Moi behind a bookcase, this speakeasy didn't disappoint. There is a host near the bookcase, which is close to the door so you can avoid walking through the entire restaurant. He will confirm that there's room for you in the bar. I've been twice, so I'm not sure if they actually turn people away once they get to a certain capacity. The first time, the host said that there was standing room only, which was fine. But -- when we got downstairs, we had two seats at the bar waiting for us. It didn't seem like anyone was really standing around. I went again on a Thursday night at around 9 and was able to snag a gorgeous, plush velvet booth. The cocktails are only $13, which we all know is a steal in NYC. I can't vouch for the food. The bartenders are very friendly and not pretentious at all. I've had two drinks there so far -- the French 75 and some kind of absinthe drink. The French 75 is made with cognac instead of gin, so I was a bit leery, but it was VERY well done. I could have sipped on French 75s all night! The absinthe drink can only be described as an absinthe milkshake. If you like absinthe, you MUST try this! The ambience is really everything that you're looking for in a speakeasy. It's dark, everything is red velvet with gold accents. It's really gorgeous, and it definitely feels like you've traveled back in time! Check out the bathroom if you make it there. Their bathroom mirror is worth a thousand selfies! read more

Went here on date night with the wife. Great service, amazing (decently priced) seasonal drinks & cool ambiance.

Le Boudoir turned out to be a fun and romantic speakeasy to enjoy a craft cocktail before dinner. The dark stairwell from the street entrance sets the mood as the only light visible comes from the very few candles and lamps decorating the walls. Other décor to include the booths and couches create an atmosphere fitting of their name. Also, glassware is appropriate for each drink with subtle designs that are pleasing to the eye. After speaking with the owner its clear they take their craft seriously and cocktail ingredients are thoughtfully designed. I chose a light citrus gin concoction that was fitting for the season and went well with the company and conversation. Overall Le Boudoir is in my opinion a unique bar given the feel and quality of drinks being served out! read more

Went there for a friend's birthday get-together the other day. One of the bar tenders was really rude to my friend all night. We had a birthday cake for my friend and we had asked if it was okay to cut it. They were fine with that, but we were not told there would be a cake fee. If that had been the case, we wouldn't have cut the cake there. When we brought it up with the same bartender, she reacted in an angry, defensive and offended fashion by saying that it was policy by the owner and that we had been charged only half of the normal cake fee. She said the policy was put in place because they sell dessert. The problem with that logic is that they have two desserts and none are of a cake variety. Honestly would have accepted the answer if it had not been said with such an attitude. Will not be coming back. read more

This place is a mixed bag. After seeing some beautiful pictures of the interior, we decided to give this place a try. The ambiance is great- it's beautiful, and finished well. However, when we went, there was a TERRIBLE DJ who pumped the music so high with old songs we couldn't even hear ourselves. We couldn't communicate let alone have a conversation. We bought a decent about of drinks and suffered through the noise, but unless this place changes their music from hip hop mixed with 80's music on high blast, we won't be returning...which really stinks because their drinks and food were amazing. TL;DR: If you don't mind the constant assault on your ears, the food, drinks, and ambiance are great. Guys, you don't need a DJ. read more

Such a cute spot! Had a really great girls night here. I can't say much for the food but the cocktails were well above average. I'll definitely be back! read more

One of my favorite spots to go to for a night out. This speakeasy is located next to Chez Moi. They did a great job of transporting you to 18th Century France. From the decor, to the chalices that the drinks are served in, everything is phenomenal. If you want a real treat, I would recommend the Eat Cake. Their menu is split up into "Outsiders" and "Inner Circle". I'm not sure what the difference is drinks-wise between the two, but you can't go wrong ordering from either section. They have an appetizers menu also to satisfy your savory tooth if you happen to get hungry. This spot makes for the perfect date night or just to casually hang out with friends and talk. On Mondays they have live music too, so that is something to definitely check out. I've been here more than a couple of times and there is never a wait, i've either gotten really lucky, or this place is still not that well known. Definitely come, check it out, and feel bougie AF while doing so read more

Honestly, shitty af cocktails. Which is a shame because they've got the ambience and vibe plus location working splendidly for them. One of the coolest speakeasy entrances I've walked through rivaling with PDT. They're trying to differentiate themselves with their intricate cocktail menu and presentation however... they need a new bartender. Whereas it sounds good in writing; the execution is absolutely lackluster. I couldn't taste any of the ingredients because of the overwhelming amount of sugar that was dumped into my drink. Balance was horribly off, they have some exotic components to their drinks that you're expecting to taste and have it shine through but nope... alcohol and sugar. If I wanted that I'd go to a diner and get a spiked milkshake. I'm always almost too leniently open-minded towards the execution of a drink. My partner is even more easygoing but we had one round and decided we've consumed our weekly dose of sugar. Hire me Le Boudoir because you're business is going to crash and burn if you continue to allow this kind of havoc at the bar. read more

Love, love love the idea of a "secret" bar underneath a French restaurant. I can strongly recommend the drinks and the small plates. Food is tasty and right on, and cocktails are mixtures of interesting flavors that I never would have thought to put together, but are so tasty! There are only 2 things keeping me from giving this place 5 stars: the music can get really loud later in the evening. The overall vibe is one of intimacy, but it's really not intimate to have to shout to be heard. Also, drinks are pricey. Are they worth it? Definitely. But don't come here hunting bargains, because you won't find them. read more

I grabbed drinks with a friend here after work when the place we planned on going to was closed for an event. All that to say, what a happy accident! Though it was nearly empty, we got awesome service, delicious food to share (shoestring fries, spiced nuts, pitted olives) and the cocktails were solid. The drink prices were slightly lower than usual for NY, but they are very icy...so consider that when you're impressed by the $$. The interior is themed after it's namesake and in a basement, so it's a great spot to cool down during humid New York summers. read more

0 stars! Came for my birthday, I made reservations but it seems like they called me once and didn't leave a message and when I arrived with my party they have given away the backroom. I had to sit with a party of 10 in the front. The place is small. The host was very accommodating but thats not what ruined the night, it was the rude waitress. She even said to one of my friends to get out of the way, like if he was intentionally trying to block her way. She was very nasty towards my group when taking our orders and she even "suggested" for us to get a bottle because it was going to take too long for her to take our orders. Ugh whenever I remember I get upset. I definitely do not recommend this place. I really wanted to like it. read more

Great place to have romantic dinner and then chill in the lounge downstairs. Great atmosphere, drinks and food are on point. I have been a big fan of Chez Moi since they opened... and now this?!?!?!?! What a bonus. Meticulously crafted cocktails. Service can be a little slow, but that helps you slink into the Parisian red-walled opium basement vibe. Be patient, New Yorkers, be patient. read more

Sexy speakeasy and lounge. Cocktails are fantastic. The bartender on Monday nights is one of the best in Brooklyn!!! And he was by himself with a crowded house! He's friendly and makes complicated and interesting drinks look very easy. All I did was choose my favorite liquor and he did the rest to make my rainy night a bit brighter. After a long day at work who doesn't love that? The waitress/server was a bit slow and seemed lost. She stands around a lot when guests are low on water or need attention. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars but I would definitely go again for the bar service and cocktails for a date night or fun time with friends. read more
