Somehow, I've never noticed this spot before walking along Atlantic Ave as this speakeasy is really quite hidden. It's located downstairs right in front of Chez Moi where rose petals and candles lead you to an underground cocktail bar. The space is styled after Marie Antoinette's chambers with burlesque shows during certain hours. It feels very secretive and intimate with a hidden backroom as well. All cocktails are $16 and I had the Axel, My Love. The fiance also tried the Au Chocolat and Le Sassefrass. The descriptions they have for their drinks are on point. I actually enjoyed my fiancé's drinks more, but all some different to try. read more

Loved this place. I came here with four of my friends--one more than was on our reservation, but it was nearly midnight and not busy, so it wasn't a problem. Our server--Nino?--was super welcoming right away. Great atmosphere. It was comfortable and quiet enough for us to be able to chat easily. I ordered the lychee drink, which was delicious. I'd noted the occasion on our reservation as my birthday, so Nino offered us a round of birthday shots, which were also delicious. When we paid our bill, happily tipsy, they wrote "Happy birthday :D" with hearts on our receipt, which was nice and cute haha. If I were local, I'd come here all the time! I recently rented Le Boudoir to celebrate a professional accomplishment, and they exceeded my expectations. One of the primary reasons I chose this venue was the opportunity to work with Nino, who I first met while they were bartending elsewhere. I learned about Boudoir after Nino began working here. Nino has a rare ability to guide guests toward drinks they will genuinely enjoy--explaining ingredients in a way that feels empowering rather than intimidating or condescending, and always with an unmatched sense of humor. I'm noticeably more confident ordering at any bar because of the conversations I've had with them. Throughout the night, guests repeatedly commented on Nino's skill and presence behind the bar; they engaged guests with ease while keeping up seamlessly with the pace of orders. The cocktail menu offers a range of options that suit many preferences without sacrificing quality. The Purple Drink was a particular crowd favorite. In addition to the standard offerings, Nino asked my partner--who was helping plan the event--for a list of some of my preferred flavors and created a surprise custom cocktail specifically for the occasion. It was an immensely thoughtful and well-crafted touch that added something personal to the evening. The atmosphere was another strong point. Guests enjoyed the snacks from the connected restaurant upstairs, and the layout--multiple rooms that support both larger group conversations and smaller, quieter interactions--worked very well for an event of this type. Although the décor is inspired by Marie Antoinette's private chambers, it's suitable for a wide range of gatherings. We rented the space on a Sunday night (when there was no burlesque show), and while the venue is somewhat dark at first, the ambiance quickly becomes part of its charm. Several guests also asked about the reservation process for their own future events. Boudoir was flexible and accommodating throughout the planning process. Very cute basement bar in Brooklyn Heights! We stumbled upon this for a 11:30 pm burlesque show on a Friday night. I really liked the space (a bit cramped, but good for intimate dancing) and the velvet benches; the service was a bit slow to get our drinks, but once we got our cocktails I thought they were all fantastic. Get yourself the Amadeus please - it's one of the best drinks I've had in NYC (Aquavit, Purple Corn Tea, and Pisco make up its base). The burlesque show was fun as the dancer was quite talented and the crowd enjoyed it; note it was less than 8 min I would say, so it's on the shorter end with only 1 performer. After that, there's a DJ who I thought was on the worse end I'd say, so we left shortly after dancing for a bit, but in terms of drink and space to talk, this place is solid. read more

Cool spot, I love the vibes. Big fan of speakeasies. We came on a Saturday night with reservations around 9pm. It wasn't packed and not sure if we needed one because by the time we left, two other booths were empty. Then again, it was kind of early. The burlesque show was fun! The dancer was great and had a pretty costume. There is a $7/pp entertainment fee added to the bill. We only stayed for one show but I think it's required to pay $7 per person per show. Went for my friend's birthday and we had a super fun time! Tyler, the hostess and mixologist, made us feel immediately welcomed and even told us some of the backstories behind the extremely creative cocktails we tried. Le Boudoir is the cutest! It's a downstairs speakeasy modeled after Marie Antoinette's own Boudoir in Versailles. The decor is adorable with tons of pink, pictures of Marie herself, and random art pieces like porcelain table stands shaped like ladies. I had the From Dusk Til Dawn drink which was super tasty (a bit sweet but still good) and came in a stainless steel glass to keep it super cold. My friend had the Tête-à-tête and loved it. Charming little speakeasy on Atlantic Ave. Went here for a friend's birthday and it was a really nice experience. We sat in the back room thats hidden away and it felt like we were in a cozy little cave. Very cool spot. Drinks were okay, I wasn't particularly impressed. I did not watch the burlesque show, but as others have mentioned, it was pretty short. The one thing that I wished was different is that the music is very loud and it's hard to have group conversations. This is definitely a place that I would consider in the future for a date night, but not sure that I'd go back with a group. read more

Le Boudoir is nestled in the basement of Brooklyn's Chez Moi restaurant (which I'd like to try out next time I'm there) and it's got the vibe you're looking for aside from being a little loud for a speakeasy. I get the sense they're trying to attract younger crowds and not those looking for a nook night date. We got every cocktail on the second page and half the ones on the first including Dauphin, Guillotine (mezcal, scotch, banana and honey), and 1793 (toasted sunflower seed infused rye). Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, we got some of those drinks because of the wicked cool glasses they were served in. This place has a super cool vibe with a hidden back cellar-looking place for a more intimate evening. My friend and I visited on a Wednesday evening so it was quiet but the vibe was cool. The decor is spot on for a speakeasy and the cocktail list is cool, as were the cocktails. Not many vodka options and their "specials" that were listed on the website were unavailable, which was a bummer, but overall a great spot for a lowkey cocktail. They have small food options which come from the restaurant upstairs, review on that to follow (Chez Moi.) Cool speakeasy in the basement of Chez Moi. There's a private room you can book, which reminded me of a cheese cave, which goes with the French theme. Not sure how the wooden toilets fit in, but... Their cocktails are interesting, to say the least. I had the Epice, made with cantaloupe and jalapeno. The weird part was they let you choose from 4 different liquors (including vodka, mescal and brandy). Kind of weird to have a choose-your-own-adventure bar program, but I digress. I went with the brandy, and it was tasty. Speaking of tasty, they also serve light food here. Think fries, olives, cheese plates and pate. The duck liver mousse and chicken pate were delicious. You can imagine my surprise and delight when an article called "Most Insane Restaurants" in Travel and Leisure magazine had this place listed right in my hometown of Brooklyn. Needless to say it was quickly added to my bucket list, and on a Saturday evening my partner in (travel) crime brought me here. The mysterious journey begins down steep winding stairs hidden behind a bookshelf ending in a dark, intimate, and romantic chamber with red velvet chaise, chairs and tables. A Steinway piano sits next to the chaise waiting to be caressed. The entire ambiance leaves you longing to slip into something much more sexy and comfortable (hint, hint guys). This bar mirrored after Marie Antoinette boudoir transports you to the late 1700's, waiting for her to walk through the door to host you. So why only three stars? While the ambiance and service were excellent, my drinks left me so disappointed. I had the sorcier (sp?) which tasted like a watered down RumChata drink. It had so much ice in a small goblet that I slurped once and it was gone. I then decided to play it safe and asked if they could make me a Moscow Mule which they accommodated with no problem but it was so horrible I had to send it back (even my friend agreed!). My last drink was a boring cranberry and vodka because I just needed to end the night at that point. Terrible experience! Got all dressed up and chose this location for our ladies night out: HUGE MISTAKE! Staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional-including a manager who yelled at his employees and his customers! We began our experience ordering cocktails, where I regrettably tipped 25% and we noticed some empty seats and sat down. Now, I have worked at Bar 65 at Rainbowroom so I know the expectation when we sat at the table and we all assumed that us sitting meant that we would be now receiving table service and we would be expected to order an additional purchase with a server.... well 45 min go by and NO SERVER!!!! No greeting, no water, nothing so we went back up to the bar to purchase another round. It was then that the "manager" yelled at us and his staff for taking our order at the bar, screaming that we had to order with the server (yep that one who never came) They then LOST my sister's CREDIT CARD and blamed us, saying we received it and that we were lying ... only to find it later behind their bar! BARTENDER NEVER APOLOGIZED for loosing the card or calling us liars. Manager blamed the music for his yelling and it "being a rough night" for his behavior. Having worked in the NYC service industry at some of the top establishments: I will say both 'excuses' are absolutely unacceptable. The lack of hospitality and accountability was shocking! You had three young business professionals ready and willing to have a great experience and spend money and we had a terrible time from start to finish... and all you can say is "it was a loud rough night?!" I had the French 75. They offer a small menu, not much to choose from but all yummy that I tried. The staff was helpful and since our party showed up on a Tuesday night they weren't prepared. You get in through a bookcase in the upstairs restaurant so cheers to the speakeasy feel. You go through the bookcase and down the stairs and arrive here. It's a nice velvet red lounge- fairly small , can fit maybe six parties. The ambiance was dimly lit with an antique feel. The actually cocktails is why I docked this spot. They were just all right. I tend to expect exceptional cocktails at speakeasies. The drinks tend to run around 12-13 which I usually gladly pay for speakeasy caliber drinks. This speakeasy-like lounge is absolutely beautiful, romantic, and has great energy. The coco drink is so delicious. A very diverse crowd comes here which I really loved. I went on a Monday night and the jazzy music was incredible. However, I do have to say the drinks are soooo expensive. I wish I could come here more often but paying $14-$20 a drink really sucks the fun out of this place. I would truly recommend lowering the prices. The area where it's located clearly has and will continue to gentrify which means a hike in rent prices - I get it but I still don't see why a drink should be upwards of $20. read more

Very cute speakeasy spot. There are two entrances, you can go downstairs below the French restaurant or go through the restaurant and use a secret entrance that is a bookshelf. There are several velvet booths and the Decor is really authentic. There is a Marie Antoinette bust on the bar area. Nice selection of interesting cocktails and a few appetizers and desserts. The frog legs were some of the best I have ever had. I could have eaten a whole other order! The cheese plate was only OK, it came with just kind of regular wheat bread. The fries were decent as well. The server was friendly and they came around to fill your glass with water often. The bathroom was especially cute and funky with a very interesting set up. So my boyfriend has gone to the restaurant Chez Moi many times. I had dinner at Chez Moi for the first time (9/12/19) and enjoyed myself. The waitress was attentive and our meal was fine. We learned about Le Boudoir and made plans to go soon. That day came and we went to Le Boudoir on a Sunday evening (9/22/19). Le Boudoir and Chez Moi have the same address. I assumed I could enter this great speakeasy through the restaurant. The speakeasy opens at 6pm and I entered Chez Moi a little after. I asked the bartender if Le Boudoir was opened. He smiled, laughed and said you are only 8 minutes late. It was 6:08pm. I went further into the restaurant and asked a busboy where I should go to enter Le Boudoir. He pointed towards the kitchen. I was a bit surprised but I thought, well, it is a speakeasy so there must be a secret entrance. I asked him for further clarification. Do I make a left or right once I enter the kitchen? He walked me to the kitchen and spoke spanish to the employees working in the kitchen. They all pointed to a staircase that led me to the basement. I knocked on a door that had a sign that said "knock before you enter." I knocked and there was no answer. I eventually just opened the door and the bartender looked at me with a very surprised look. I asked if I was in Le Boudoir and he responded with a yes. He still had a puzzled look on his face and asked me why I was coming through the back door. I explained what happened and he chuckled nervously and apologized for the staff. It turns out, the staff (Bartender & busboy) mistook me for help in the kitchen or some sort of server. I was a bit confused because I was in a dress and full makeup. How could they mistake me for this?? I chuckled as well and asked the bartender if there were any other Black employees that were scheduled to start at 6pm? He chuckled and apologized again. I never heard from management or anyone else about the incident. The drinks were great. The bartender, who was the only professional person regarding my incident, was attentive and made great drinks. The Tete a tete was very refreshing. We ordered the Croquette, Fries, and Charcuterie. The Croquette had a nice salty taste to it and the fries were fine because we drank so much. We did not like the pate and liver mousse. It was very dry and looked like it came straight from a can. Which is possible but it was this block and tasteless. Needless to say, after my "VIP" entry into Le Boudoir, I will not be going back. Even if I go through the separate entrance. I prefer to go to places that recognize me as a paying customer, not THE HELP. read more

We were there shortly after 6pm, so it was nice & quiet and didn't get too busy even when we left around 8pm. They have a nice list of cocktails and we shared everything amongst the 4 of us - 2 rounds. They were all "good." And $13 sounds like a decent deal, compared to $15+ prices in Manhattan. However, none of those drinks were really booze-forward (and I'm a light weight). Even the ones with whiskey or bourbon were lacking in the flavors of those base alcohol. Also, many drinks come with so much ice. After not feeling like we have had 2 rounds of cocktails, my husband finally requested a more whiskey-forward drink (w a few ingredient options).
