Wanted to break the monotony of French food and this place came to mind. Very small nondescript place on Rue Washington. I had the mixed grilled meat with side salad and hummus. It was good, but my only complaint was the bread was not at least warm. It came in a cellophane plastic baggie. For dessert I tried the famous Lebanese cream with pistachio and honey. We came here late at night, past midnight. As we were standing in line, they threw out the last of the chicken sharwarma. Had to go with the beef (which was on its last legs on the rotisserie). It was pretty dry. Also got a falafel. It was ok but had been sitting out so not very crisp. My wife got a tawook sand which and she liked it. The food is incredible. I've had shawarma on 3 continents. This was the best chicken shawarma sandwich in my life. I'm returning to Paris just for this sandwich. It should be Michelin rated. All the bad reviews on this place are from stupid Americans who ended up here after a walk on the Champs-Élysées, furious that they couldn't sit down without paying more. A hidden gem off a smaller road perpendicular to the busy Av. des Champs-Elysées. It's not the largest restaurant, maybe around 10 tables on the main level. When I dined there, the service was great and super speedy. The portions are really big, they are very generous with the protein which is nice. We didn't know anything about the place prior to dining here but glad we got to check it out! read more

Nestled three-fourths of the way up the Champs-Élysées, a few stores into the bisecting street of Rue Washington is a small, Lebanese joint announcing its presence with a yellow, inconspicuous banner. My uncle, a taxi driver in Paris, raved about this place having the best shawarma, proving that a visit was necessary. The restaurant is not very large, and normally has two or three of their tables occupied by people seeking a more complete meal, but I'm here to talk about their shawarma. Priced at five euros and with an option of lamb or chicken, its the cheapest snack you can get on the most famous street in Paris -- without, of course, having to resort to McDo, Quick, or Haagen-Daaz, which by the way, have horrendously long lines in Paris, but even worse on this bustling street. Once I entered, I approached the cook, and told him I wanted a lamb shawarma. He got to work immediately. He started shaving the meat and let it gracefully fall down into the pool of delicious meat drippings. Then he took some flatbread, I'll assume it was lavash or some Lebanese equivalent, and piled on the meat. In addition to that, he added these roasted potatoes that were marinating in the aforementioned meat drippings and pickles. After folding it up, he placed it in a panini press. Meanwhile, the cook pointed to another man manning the cash register, where a can of Coke rounded out my order to 8 euros. I received my hot sandwich, and like the ravenous American I am, I immediately took a giant bite. Oh, sweet sweet bliss. The shawarma was incredible. The bread was crunchy and fresh, the meat was tender and aromatic, and the pickles and potatoes, while unconventional, just rounded out and enhanced the taste. There were jars of complimentary pepporincinis that I ate between bites to clean my palate, and each subsequent bite just got better and better. Despite my desire to savor every bite, I made quick work of the delicious sandwich and was left wanting more. As I finished my sandwich, I noticed that the Coke can was still unopened, a testament to how delicious that sandwich was, and how it continue to be delicious on my return visits. Of course we needed our halal fix in Paris too! The shawarmas are delish, juicy and flavorful. It's in a great location just near Champs-Elysees. Great halal shawarmas, just off the Champs-Elysees. You can tell how good a shawarma is going to be by looking at the rotisserie and counting the drops of juice that drip of the rotating meat. Anything less than one drop per second is going to be dry. This place is like 4-6 drops per second, which is a respectable rate (the best places I've been to, on Edgware Road in London are like rain, you can't even count). But this place is respectable and convenient. Open late too. They charge more if you sit and eat, so just grab a sandwich to go and enjoy the walk along the Champs-Elysees. read more

Le Baron was everything we were hoping it would be and more. A small restaurant, with friendly and helpful staff, and great food. We loved the shawarma, the sauces, the hummus and falafel. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Beside the fact that it is quite expensive (what else to expect from a restaurant by Les Champs Elysées?), my opinion varies according to the food. I personally had a chich taouk dish which was quite delicious. However, I also tried the shawarma from a friend, and found it bland and lacked spices. Clearly, not all the dishes are equal. If you are brave and not scared of bad breath, do not miss the garlic sauce. It was quite unique. As for the environment of the restaurant, it could use some renovation. read more
