My partner in food gluttony and I had completely overdone it on the French pastries on one of our many trips to Paris, so we opted for a light dinner one chilly March evening. That night Le Bar a Soupes was our dining venue. We were given the choice of having one large bowl of soup, or having three smaller glasses of soup. We chose the latter, which was a great way of tasting the varied soup menu on offer. My absolute favourite (as it turned out to be also from other diners), was the petit pois soup - luscious creamy green goodness. I could've seriously eaten the whole metal vat that the soup was served from - seriously delicious! The owner was incredibly welcoming and persuaded us to try the dessert soup too. It was made up of mostly carrot and cinnamon. Not hugely to my taste, but great idea.

Quality/Quantity - Thank you Google and Yelp. Another good find!…read moreGood food and service. Plus it was convenient and walkable from our hotel. Flank Steak - Craving steak again. If you are following, you know we did a "Field Trip" to Versailles. 86 degree weather with NO shade. I had to take two breaks, a wine break and a beer break, lol. Anyway, since I had a liquid lunch, I was hungry and craved steak. Cooked perfectly. I was worried that I was not going to finish, but I was still able to. Chicken Supreme - My wife's order which was (again) cooked perfectly. The chicken is so tender. I used the complimentary bread to soak up all the sauces from both dishes. And to wash all this down, I got a Domary IPA, Paris France, local beer. Ambiance - Good size. Indoor and outdoor seating. Service - 5 stars, the entire team was welcoming and accommodating. Price - 48 Euros, $56 US. I thought it was reasonably priced. Well the local beer was a little expensive, but I always try to support the locals. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

The portion size was huge but the flavor wasn't wow. The noodles were lacking. The noodle isn't the kind of noodle I liked. I found them too firm. Tofu seemed to be over cooked. On the brightside, the greens in the noodle were super fresh. B had the pastrami sandwich. He liked it. Fries were ok. The decor isn't wow here. I found this place though google and Yelp. This restaurant had a lot of history and story behind it. Servers here were super nice and friendly. The washroom here seemed a bit creepy.

The staff is fantastic, they give great service and will always help you make a decision on what to get! I had their chicken satay, a dish I favor in the states and they classed it up! Typically served on a skewer these were thin chicken breasts, covered in sauce served on a bed of rice. So good! My favorite dish there, may seem so basic, but their cesar salad. It blows any salad I have had in the US out of the water. Hard boiled eggs are in it, a large fresh chicken breast, and all the ingredients taste fresh. I've had their burgers, also fabulous and their hot chocolate! I have never left unsatisfied and will be my go-to place if I ever find myself in Paris again.

Small but comfortable thanks to red leather banquetes, a tiled floor beneath brass ceilings and walls full of art, it is from a paper ledger that reservations are confirmed prior to seating at wood tables that require being slid aside to gain access. A locals sort of place, though the menu does offer English translations, fans of Bistro fare will find all the staples complimented by daily specials while the Wine list runs long yet quite affordable. Well-suited to families, especially on Sundays when so few Parisian Restaurants are open all day, starters come in the form of Escargot or French Onion Soup plus sizable slabs of Foie Gras and the chunky sort of housemade Terrine one rarely encounters outside of France. Far more affordable than tourist favorites, its place in the 11th undoubtedly part of the reason, main plates see Confit Duck done well without any fuss while Pepper Steak and Sweetbreads in reduced Soy are generous in terms of portion and flavor. Not a spot to skip Dessert, all but Ice Cream made on site, Chez Paul's Baba is denser than Ducasse's but no less delicious while the Œufs à la neige and Tarte Tatin are each classics prepared the right way.

I was unaware the restaurant has no air conditioning and I was visiting last week during a heat wave. For a fine dining restaurant they really should have more fans in the dining room. They had a small one in the section I was in. I ordered an octopus small plate and a chicken entree. I also got a cocktail that the server recommended to go with the chicken. I never got the entree. When I told one of the servers, they offered to bring it but my friend was done with his entree so we figured we would move on to dessert. So I told them I would pass. Then the server who took my order came over and tried to tell me that I did not order the chicken entree. Not only is that rude, but it's also uncalled for. Why would I make that up? He recommended me a cocktail to go with it! He spoke perfect English so I don't believe anything got lost in translation. Then I ordered dessert because I was treating my friend to dinner for his birthday. We both ordered espressos. They only brought mine. The restaurant is of course beautiful and very instagram-able. But the service was very disappointing, and the expensive food quality does not merit the poor service or the beauty of the restaurant. I would much rather go back to Laperouse in Paris. Worth the money, great service, and the soufflé is incredible.
