Great atmosphere (we opted for indoor seating since it was rather warm out), excellent service, and food that was easily some of the best we had during our weeklong stay in the city. Definitely try the rabbit. There are a few variations available. We had the Tourte Lapin and the Rable de Lapin along with a fondue to share. Also, some great local beers and a rose cidre to quench our thirst.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

I had their version of shepherds pie and it was the best one I've had in 3 decades including those I've tried in England, Scotland and Ireland!! Well balanced combination and smooth mash potatoes. Their homemade ketchup is amazeBallS! It does NOT look like Heinz by the way. I tried to buy some at their store next door but were out of it :/. Idk about their other dishes but I would eat their shepherds pie every week! +++ Service is friendly prompt and well informed staff. +++. To put that in perspective, you can get a 14 oz steak for $70 at the fancy steak joint nearby. Come here for the vibe, the $5 hand made taffy roll (that you can get for $3 in the corner store) but watch out for the waiter's upsell recommendations. If you bring the kids, may be the kids plats is the way to go as you get the Taffy included.

We got there a little early so beat the crowds. The restaurant was super cute and cozy inside. Our server was very kind and helpful. He gave an excellent rundown of the menu and recommended a good cider pairing for my food. He let me trial a couple ciders before making a decision and the ciders were so good! It paired very well to cut the savoriness and fat of my meal. I ordered the Bearn and it was amazing!! The fuck confit was perfection and paired well with the sweetness of the onions and sharpness of the goat cheese. My husband got the sausage galette to trial their homemade sausage. His meal was also extremely good! So much flavor! TL;DR exceptional food and service!

Don't forget to save room for their desserts though because they were so thoughtful and artistically crafted!! Walking in, you go through a modern dining room and foyer. Then you enter their glass ceiling green house room where it's an eclectic but classy collection of plants, art, and decor. Their WINE MENU was an insane list & came as a book that was 50+ pages long!! Along with a bottle of wine, lovely complimentary bread & butter & amuse bouche....here's what we ordered: THE FOIE GRAS EXPERIENCE (5/5) - so fun getting to mix and match all 5 forms of foie gras. The most mind blowing one HAS to be the brûléed/caramelized foie gras in the little dish. Smokey, rich and savoury! LOBSTER BISQUE (5/5) - love the large chunk of fresh lobster. I enjoyed that it's not mashed up with everything and I get to enjoy the textures and flavour pairing. Jean-Luc Boulay Signature dish: Squab from Turlo's farm (5/5) - so many things to rave about with the dish. You simply MUST try this, truly a signature dish. EVERYTHING was amazing, and that stuffed mushroom took it to the next level for me. RACK OF LAMB (5/5) - beautiful cut of lamb (not fatty like how most other restaurants are). It's also presented/deconstructed so nicely for ease of eating! The Cannelé (5/5) - DREAMY dessert. It took me by surprise with the caramelized crispy cross-sectioned Cannelé sandwiched with rum mousse and ice cream. The Imperial (4/5) - great praline dessert

They were right next to the large pick-up window looking into the kitchen, and our host then said "These are the people who will be preparing your dinner", and introduced us to each person in the kitchen... by name. This is a very small place, cozy and atmospheric. If there are just two of you, sitting at the bar is the way to go. It's where you really feel the vibe and see what makes this place so special. The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. She is a transplanted Brit (I believe), with a quick smile and a sassy outlook. Even as busy as she was, she had the time to engage us and make us feel like we were old friends. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food... But truly great restaurants provide an experience that impacts you on many levels, and holds a place in your memory. Buvette Scott is a truly great restaurant.
