This place was a hidden gem my friends found while we were staying in the neighborhood. They insisted that we had to come back all together before we left the city.
[Food]
We got the foie gras and salmon with yuzu and saffron as our appetizers. My friends also got a glass of wine each. We really recommend getting a glass of rosé Cabernet. This wine was so good -- light and amazing with all our dishes. It also did not taste alcoholic, but had that aftertaste, which was great.
The appetizers were also amazing. We especially love the salmon. The sauce was really unique -- a vinegary and citrusy combination. As for the foie gras, we ate it with the jam it came with as well as the bread. It was an amazing value here given the quality and also how expensive it is in the States.
We each got a duck based dish as our mains. We got one of the special of the days (it looks like they have a few special dishes every day) -- duck breast
with red fruit sauce -- and the duck confit, and the duck breast with fig jam.
The duck was perfectly prepared. The meat was so flavorful and easy to chew. The sauces paired beautifully with the meat. The red fruit sauce was sweet and tangy, and the fig sauce was sweet and added an interesting texture. All the dishes also came with a side of potatoes (something between a chip and a french fry) and a salad.
We finished off with the crème brûlée, which was perfectly burnt on the top. It wasn't too sweet and tasted of a deep caramel. It was the best way to end the meal.
[Service]
The restaurant was run by a lady who was really kind and approachable. Unlike any other places, we've been here where the service was on the slower side, this place made us feel that we were well attended to, and we could comfortably ask for more bread if needed. She also came by to ask us for water, which was nice.
[Ambiance]
The vibes here were chill, low key, and felt like a diner that a lot of locals know about and enjoy. It was relaxing and didn't feel like a tourist trap. We saw a lot of solo diners as well as a large group of people -- so it looks like there is a good mix of types of people who come here.
This is definitely a hidden gem that we will come back to whenever we are in Paris. read more
