Upon my first day in Paris with my family on a recent trip I was determined to find a spot so local that it was totally off the beaten path and one that required a bit of a journey.
After a bit of research I was sold on this French restaurant for not only their savory dishes that had me drooling over my phone as I was scrolling through photos; however, it was their signature dessert I saw that I knew THIS WAS THE PLACE.
This is not some big restaurant with tons of seating. NOPE. Be patient and the staff will soon get you a table. We were not in peak hours of lunch, but it was still busy with constant traffic. It's probably a lot easier if your group is no more than 4-6 people MAX. We were a table of three and it probably took us about 20 minutes.
Your sense of smell will wiggle with joy as you explore the aroma within. The dishes coming out of the kitchen are all divine and I promise you they're just as delicious as they look.
If you don't know French whatsoever, POLITELY ask your server to turn the blackboard which has their whole menu onto the other side as they have their menu written in English. We knew Spanish so we were able to understand the French menu for the most part but it was a lot easier with the English menu.
As my cousin and I had no concept of price on this trip to Europe we decided to share the Pan Fried Rib Eye which was about 50 Euros and could easily feed two. The course also came with salad with a house-made vinaigrette, as well as, fries that had the perfect crunch to them.
The Pan Fried Rib Eye was so juicy and you should definitely order this no more than Medium (we did medium rare). I still can hear the sizzling of the dish and the "crunch" from each bite I took. I didn't want this dish to end and I understood at that moment why folks were willing to wait.
With the sweet tooth that I have, the table ordered their signature dessert- La Profiterole. The easiest way to describe it is the profound royal cousin of the plain Jane s'more. With super soft sponge cake, honey infused ice cream all drench with piping hot chocolate fondue. The chocolate fondue was literally poured with a large ladle from a small cauldron that was brought over. The scene of chocolate infused the area of the restaurant and I was certain Willy Wonka was in the back himself whipping up this dessert. The puff pastry within the dessert was flaky and every spoon of the dessert had me jumping up and down with joy.
This experience was one that I'll truly treasure. Also doesn't hurt they serve beer and wine here with quite a heavy pour. read more
