05/08/25 - Met my buddy Miguel for lunch. We had a hankering fer sum Vietnamese food. I found this place on Yelp in the Mediterranean restaurant area on Kedzie just south of Lawerence Ave. They have many choices as they have a large menu. We sort of had our heart set on Pho as it was a chilly May Day. My buddy ordered a large bowl of Pho Ga Xe shredded chicken & a vegetable spring rolls. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien a/sliced beef & meat balls (small portion to maintain my young boyish figure NOT) & a side of shrimp spring rolls (both yummy). The spring rolls came w/peanut sauce & the Pho bowls came w/a generous portion of Thai Basil, bean sprouts & jalapeño pepppers. The food and the service were outstanding. After a long day, LD Pho was the perfect spot for a quick Vietnamese dinner. It's situated comfortably in Albany Park sandwichwd between a variety of restaurants and stores. There were 3 of us and my daughter 1 of 2 is a vegetarian. This is a great spot for vegetarians as they have numerous options. I ordered a traditional beef pho...which was so good. The broth had a hint of sweetness but was also very savory and flavorful. The service was awesome. There was only one guy, but he was very attentive despite having other customers. I have been curious about this Vietnamese spot for a while, mainly because of the various shrimp wrapped in meat dishes they have. So when my friend and I were looking for a place to eat in the area, I finally got to check this place off my list. I was torn between trying the shrimp wrapped in bacon vs beef and I ended up with the shrimp wrapped in beef. It was good but not Amazing, and I don't feel the need to try this place again. Came here based off reviews and found it to be good, but nothing amazing. Ordered a bowl of pho and the broth was lacking that cinnamony aroma that I'm used to. It was a little basic. Even though it's not hard to find pho, most pho uses beef or chicken broth. It's not as easy to find vegetarian friendly pho, but there's lots of places where you can get it. LD Pho is one of these. Good prices for a pretty large bowl of noodles and protein. The broth is kind of bland, which is the only complaint, but it helps with a touch of seasoning. Among the best foods for cool weather is pho in a bowl. It just does something good. The weather was pretty cool for this time of year. Luckily this place wasn't far. We stopped in and got a couple bowls of the Pho Chay, which is vegan. It's $13 for a pretty big ass bowl. This has basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, mushrooms, and tofu. Bowls only come in the one size, meaning there likely will be leftovers. The broth was kind of too much like water, and needed a little seasoning from the hot sauce and peppers. Good place to get some tasty broth. It's close to the Kedzie Brown Line station in Albany Park. The inside is pretty small, so most people get takeout. read more

It's a nice treat to get some delicious tasting Pho that not too far to get to. There isn't enough or the area has very limited parking and so it would best to with someone so they could sit in the car while you take out the food. It's a smaller place that's relatively clean with about 15 tables although I didn't physically count them. I was greeted by a nice and friendly person when we picked up the food. It's a very welcoming place. There have a straight forward way to know who has placed the order. There is too many variety of foods on the online menu that I wasn't sure what to exactly order. I kinda went with my 'gut' feeling and tried the same dishes we had in the past. I tried to look at the menu online and got a little lost since I am not too familiar with the names. It would be good to have pictures next to the names. The food itself has a pleasant taste and great tasting with nice aromatic flavors; it's better than other Pho places. We started off with some appetizers- fresh shrimp spring rolls, pork egg rolls, and chicken dumplings. All three came with their own sauces and they were delicious. I ordered a steak sandwich, Bahn Mi, which was good however it could use a couple of extra ounces of steak. Then came the Bu Bo Hue, which is one of their specialty pho's. I added all of the greens and toppings that it came with and it was a hearty, filling, and delicious pho. It wasn't spicy at all so I added some sriracha to liven it up. As for this restaurant, it is a small cozy place, which wasn't too busy on a Friday night. There were plenty of open seats available when we arrived.
