Most order turn up then next day when I have ordered stuff via the website when I have been unable to get in to town. Not because I don't like the shop, but I'm…read morenot a fan of Barratts in particualr after receiving some very bad customer service from their head office about a year ago. The shop itself is pretty big and it seems clean and inviting. they always have some shoes outside to lure you in, but only left feet so they don't go missing! the last time I was in, the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Also, I find their sizing to be quite erratic.

I find if there is a default on some shoes i get 10% off but only if you ask, apparently that is the max they can give you. Prices are okay but there are other shoe shops which are much cheaper. The staff leave you to your own devices unless you ask for help and you feel like your putting them out! The shop itself can vary from being tidy to being really messy. Guess it depends what time of day you go. Always seem to get staff standing around chatting instead of trying to help people, which is rather rude.

This branch of JD Sports is a giant store, it is located on Northumberland Street in Newcastle city…read morecentre, and it is one of the rare stores which actually has a larger and more modern store here in Newcastle city centre than at Gateshead's Metrocentre, which is around two and a half miles away, at the other side of the River Tyne. This branch seems quite modern, and it makes me feel it definitely has been refurbished recently, especially since this place was last reviewed by two Qype users nearly 9 full years ago. The staff seemed average, the product range was okay, albeit the selection of football shirts was quite poor, they included Newcastle United which is obvious for geographical reasons, but they also had shirts from Chelsea and Manchester United and Liverpool which I can't understand as they didn't stock my favourite club Manchester City, who finished higher than United and Liverpool last season, and have won more Premier League titles since its' formation in 1992 than Liverpool, and have the longest active streak in England of Champions League Qualification, which came into effect last season when Arsenal could only manage finishing in 5th place, meanwhile City of course finished third. The store has a decent, maybe slightly above average selection of most other items and a nice feel to it, it is located over two floors with footwear upstairs and in my opinion warrants a medium to high three star rating.

Although it only occupies a small space,it still offers a great selection of all types of shoes but particularly funky trainers from all the leading brands. What sets this store apart from other shoe shops is the fabulous customer service! Without being pushy staff were happy to approach me to offer help but equally allowed me to browse in my own time. All staff were so friendly and are a credit to the store. Upon purchasing a pair of trainers I didn't have to leave my seat as they use portable card readers and I was given the additional option of an e-receipt so they are certainly keeping up to date with technology! Although relatively expensive I will definitely go back.

Nevertheless the value is very good and shoes are at budget prices. Most of the shoes tend to verge towards high fashion and a more youthful market, but there are also some items for older shoppers. They sell a good range comprising from boots to sandals. They also sell a small selection of mens footwear and childrens shoes also. The childrens range is exceptionally good value and very popular with young girls as they are fashionable shoes.

I was offered to try another style very similar by loake but declined as i know what i want out of the boot. The staff were so full of appologies for not being able to help , which made me feel that i had let them down by not giving them a sale . The shop is like any factory store in the states. The front end is all first run merchandise at full UK MSRP pricing - zero bargains to be had there. The back portion is all outlet stuff that is discounted anywhere from 30% (most common) to 50% to 70%. You'll have to hunt through stuff in this section and it can be overwhelming. The sizing is well marked, but stuff tends to get jumbled up, hence the hunting. The staff are polite and try to help, but they seemed to be overwhelmed as well during our visit. You might want to take cash with you as the time we visited their card readers were down. They apparently aren't always good about warning to this and we spent an hour shopping and selecting things to buy before we were told cash only which was very frustrating!!! There is an off-site cash machine available that's a 10 minute walk away (and the staff is all too eager to direct you to it), but it's limited to £250 per transaction. Due to this we walked away from our experience at the store empty handed and unhappy. The bottom line is that unless you are a Barbour fanatic and are looking to make a pilgrimage, or you're looking for a recently discontinued item, there is little reason to visit this place unless you simply run out of other places to visit. You can get the first run items from legit Barbour retailers in the UK at the same price, (or less if you shop on-line.) For US customers, buying at a UK retailer can save you some money depending on the exchange rate, but keep in mind that a $400 jacket eats into your free customs declaration pretty fast. In addition, bulky wax coated jackets might push your luggage weights over the limits in which case the savings is lost due to baggage surcharges. Also, e-Bay retailers in the states can get you the exact same items for an equivalent value to or slightly better than UK pricing.
