I ordered a pair of Skins Compression Shorts and short sleeve top after searching on the internet and finding they were the best price. After placing the order on the Monday I decided I wanted to change the size of the top so I phoned back. After receiving a call back from the internet team shortly after I was informed that they were making up my order & one of the colleagues had tried both sizes to advise me. On the Thursday afternoon I received a message to say my order had been cancelled due to a lack of stock. I phoned back and the person I spoke to was confused as to why and told me the best thing I could do was order them again online. I went back on the website and you can still order the products at the new higher price. I am training for a marathon & have a niggling minor injury. My sports masseuse recommended these to help me in my training and now I have wasted my time waiting for them to deliver the products and will have to wait after ordering somewhere else. Very disappointed, my advice is to pay a slightly higher price somewhere else for a better service rather than go through this nonsense. read more

It's always a good thing when you're able to go into an independent outdoor retailer like LD Mountain Centre and get sound advice from staff who are knowledgable not only about the products they have in store but also in guiding you towards a better product that may be more suited to your chosen sport. I've been in the store on many occasion and had very helpful advice that has guided my purchase and each time I've not been disappointed! Helpful staff, friendly and a great range of stock made all the more worthwhile by having the online option too. Great for treating yourself (and family!) when sales kick in and a parcel with new, shiny kit arrives in the post. I visited the LD Mountain Centre last summer when i was visiting from Canada. Upon opening my luggage I found I forgot to pack my waterproof jacket! (Yes, I know, I'm an idiot) Needless to say, waterproofs are a must when hiking in the UK summertime. The staff showed me a bunch of great waterproof jackets, and really seemed to care that I picked the right one for me. They were right, it did the trick perfectly. I was so impressed that I ordered the matching waterproof pants when I got back in Canada. I contacted them to see if I could get it delivered to my business address instead of the home address I stated on the website. They responded promptly mentioning it was no problem and that they would be shipping it out the next day. Great product, great service. read more

I ordered ski boots to be shipped from LD Mountain Centre the USA since LD had the product I was looking for in stock and good rates on international shipping. LD sent the wroing size (size did not match that listed on the invoice). I made numerous attempts to call and email LD to set up a return, since I did not want to be responsible for shipping charges on their mistake. However, none of my correspondences were returned. I ended up selling the boots on Ebay for a loss since I received no cooperation from LD. They may be a good shop but beware on overseas shipments. read more

I found LD Mountain Centre years ago when I was a student and brought my first Ice Axe there. When I moved to the Alps for my first season, their knowledgeable staff helped me select the best kit to take with me, indeed many of the staff had also done seasons and knew what to expect. Now I'm back in the UK, I still rely on LD Mountain Centre for most of my mountain kit. I have just started climbing after a few sessions at the indoor wall using rental shoes and harness I thought I should get some kit of my own. I had a look in at a couple of different shops in Newcastle trying on different shoes and harnesses. I felt apart from the price the knowledge and general helpfulness of staff at the LD Mountain Centre stood out and was happy to get my new climbing harness and shoes there. The staff there have always helped me make an informed decision on whatever I was buying and assisted me in choosing the right item for my requirements. Went in to LD Mountain Centre needing new waterproofs and came out with superb kit. The helpful staff assisted me through the Goretex minefield and kitted me out to my needs. The staff member obviously has a lot of experience in the mountains and suggested features to keep out even a Scottish west coast storm. To boot they were very competitively priced for such good kit and look forward to going back before my next adventure. read more

I went into LD mountain Centre for the first time when I was buying equipment for my World Challenge Expedition and I couldn't recommend them more! They had so many top quality products available for such cheap prices. I then gave them a visit without fail for every Duke of Edinburgh trip and outdoor adventure I went on. total waste of time , ordered a jacket ,3 days later told it was out of stock and wouldnt be reordered, went back onto website and was still able to order the exact same jacket.
