However the average price per pair is around £7 so you can't really grumble! They cater for ladies size 3-9 -- I find that they are in the minority of value shoe shops which sell size 9 shoes at affordable prices so they definitely get my approval. I find that in general the sizing is quite small, however, some styles do run large and when I do find a size 9 that fits, I buy a few pairs. Their sales are also pretty good - after xmas I have found some great sub-£10 boots in my size, as well as flat pumps for as little as £3 per pair. They also have some branded mens shoes at a fraction of what they cost in catalogues and sports shops. All in all the quality is not outstanding but if you are looking for a cheap pair of stylish shoes for a night out or casual shoes for work, then I definitely recommend Shoe Zone.

Brantanos are one of the few places that go up to a size 9, and if you're lucky, sometimes they have size 10s in too. This branch is very big, and they have something to suit everybody. The staff are helpful, but unlike most shoes shoes, you don't have much interaction with them as all of the shoes are already paired up in boxes underneath the display. A really nice shop which is easy to get to and has a massive car park.

Inside, they have a really nice range of shoes and boots. They are set out in the style of a pile-'em-high-sell-'em-cheap type of shop, but they still have some nice shoes. They also sell bags, sports bags, a bit of jewellery, and the occasional accessory like fancy scarves.

He takes a size 12/13 and always goes here for shoes for work. There are bargains to be had if they stock your size and style -- lots of branded shoes at highly discounted prices. they also sell some good quality hard wearing school shoes for kids, and often the prices are better than their rivals such as Clarks. Definitely worth a look in here, though it is very hit and miss as to whether you'll find what you're looking for.

Barratts are absolutely brilliant if you have feet that are not 'normal'... and by that I don't…read moremean webbed toes, haha, I mean if you are a lady and take either size 2 or size 9 or 10, then they have a special range of footwear to suit these sizes, and they are also affordable too. The quality and styles are very nice too! I believe they also cater for men who have big feet too. In the Newcastle branch they do not have the tall/small shoes in store (in stock), however, they are happy to order in any shoes so you can try them instore before committing yourself to buying them. The assistants are always friendly though I do find it a little annoying when they approach you several times when you are just browsing. Still I guess they are trained to do this so it's not their fault. They also have a website where you can order items but there is a set postage charge, which is £3.50. I have ordered from there too and the service has also been good but if the shoes are unsuitable, you have to pay the return postage and they do not refund the £3.50 delivery charge. I have often taken shoes ordered on the Barratts website back to the store in Newcastle, and they have processed my refund and saved me return postage :D
