This restaurant is lovely and located inside a museum in downtown Barrie, near the waterfront. The chicken club was amazing, as well as the soup. The latte was great as well. I want to come back to try the other items on the menu, this place has good vibes only and a beautiful, modern aesthetic. read more

Cute bohemian cafe with healthy delicious food options. I had the quiche special which came with a delicious side salad. Hubs had the keto chicken salad. Had a bite; it was delicious. A date square and chai latte finishe off my late lunch. Decor is barn board and earthtones. Interesting art from local artists are for sale on the walls. Staff are pleasant and efficient. One of my favourite bunch spots! Health delicious food and steaming, hot coffee. Great after going to the berry farmers market.

Stopped here for brunch on a Sunday. Place was busy but we easily got a table for 2. Apparently you can also make reservations Service was great and efficient Food was delicious! I had the avocado spinach Benny (only on weekends) which was amazing. Great hollandaise, and the home fries and salad was very flavourful . The eggs perfectly cooked. Probably one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had! My husband had the classic breakfast. His only complaint was that it could've had a bit more protein. Again the flavours were great . Definitely would return.!! read more

A delicious meal met with an excellent server made for an all around wonderful dining experience. Came here for brunch on a beautiful sunny Saturday and sat out on the patio. We weren't sure if we wanted breakfast or lunch,so we took a look at both menus. We both thought so many things sounded so good, making it a tough choice. My dining company had heard the huevos rancheros were some of the best around. I opted for the special which was eggs benny with smoked salmon on gluten free toast. We were both blown away! The dishes were terrific to say the least! I'll be back again for sure! read more

I came by for a coffee not realizing it is a brunch place. Staff was warm and decor is unique and fun for an outing. I was fortunate enough to get a window seat. I can't comment on the food but it was quite busy and looks like worth the visit for brunch. read more

Extremely Racist and rude owner- Michelle! Not a family friendly place!! This place might be popular for its food but the server and service in the cafe is the worst I have ever seen. I am from Toronto and was visiting Barrie with my husband and one year old on a Saturday morning. We thought to explore this popular cafe since my daughter was starving. We reached the place as soon as it opened and we were the first customers. The server (Michelle) who is the owner of the place did not even greet us and was talking rudely about not having a reservation with them. We didn't feel good but didn't want to leave without buying anything. So we still thought to get a coffee to which she replied- If you are buying just a coffee then you will have to leave the table. We said ok we can leave after finishing. Minutes later she noticed my 1 year old daughter holding the table number tag that was lying on our table in the patio. She came running from inside and snatched the tag from her. She hurt my daughter and made her cry and just went inside. We thought to leave the place immediately. I went inside and told her that she can't behave like this with a baby to which she said that my daughter can't touch anything in the restaurant. I have never had such bad experience ever in my life. We are an Indian family and we could understand that the woman was being racist and did not want to welcome us to her cafe. She hurt my daughter physically and emotionally. I wanted to explore Barrie to move there from Toronto but after this experience I would never return to this place and this cafe. read more

Understaffed on a Saturday morning. Waited and watched while staff scrambled to greet, make drinks and take orders. Would have liked to stay to eat but even getting a drink order took 25 minutes. read more

Pet hair all over my glass, pet hair all over my orange juice bottle, lint on utensils. I guarantee the owners have pets and they allow them in the restaurant. Clean the place up!! I can't imagine their home. I returned the orange juice and they still put it on the bill. They offered to take it off, but just get it together. read more

I like sauces and dressings, they serve their Lazy Tulip Café chicken club with a very nice one, but when asked, they gave me an extra little dish of garlic mayo so I'm now in heaven! And the salad with crispy fresh greens and pumpkins seeds... yummy! Simply delicious! Location is great! Downtown and across from the bus terminus. read more

Insanely good eggs Benedict, not pay off regular breakfast menu. Good service, fresh food made from scratch. Vegan options. We came here for breakfast. At about 11am on a Sunday, it wasn't too busy, which is nice. I ordered the Eggs Benedict (a special that day) and my friends had the classic breakfast and the huevos rancheros. We all LOVED our meals. I couldn't stop talking about the eggs benedict, which was made with hollandaise from scratch and came on top of some kind of thick, airy toast that seemed to be made of butter. Those who had coffee couldn't stop talking about how great it was. One of the things I noticed about the place was that they had a lot of vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free items. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would definitely visit this place again the next time I'm in Barrie. read more

We had to drive from Toronto to Barrie and just had to stop at Lazy Tulip. It's conveniently located in town, is really well decorated and had great atmosphere, the service was quick and friendly. It's has a nice vibe to it. We had the smoked salmon benny(aka Pacific Benny in West Coast with lox) and the lox was like velvet. So fresh and clean tasting. The eggs were perfectly poached and just soft enough to not be runny. The hollandaise was smooth and rich and creamy. Perfect potatoes and even the coffee was so delicious (every cup made fresh instead of drip). We will make the 90 min drive again, just for this breakfast! read more

The chicken club was outstanding! They use free range, locally raised chickens-- no cheap deli meat here!! Our sandwiches were made using a huge slices of soft focaccia bread and was garnished with real cheddar, tomatoes and a roasted red pepper mayo that complimented them perfectly. Our salad was full of fresh organic mixed greens with pumpkin seeds. The dressing was a home made tarragon basil mixture. They seem to offer more vegetarian options than non, but that would not deter me from ordering from them again. read more

Excellent food and great staff. The food was delicious and even though they were very busy the food came in a timely manner.

They collect vintage q-tee clowns and I want them allllll!!! cute clowns and they make cute videos of them too

Excellent sandwiches, I'm a big meat eater but the vegies substitute great in that amazing fresh baked bread! Paired with an amazing soup, it's a satisfying and filling lunch read more

Don't waste your money sorry, three of us went in November and it was awful all around.

What a unique dining experience. The Lazy Tulip was everything I hoped it would be. The staff was friendly, the ambience was eclectic and the food was delicious! Check it out you will be delighted. read more

Horrible food! How do you make salad uneatable??? By drowning it in olive oil with no salt or vinegar. It was just a greasy greenery. It was accompanied by a soggy slice of untoasted bread drenched in some more olive oil... Gross!!! read more

TLDR: If you like sweet lattes, don't order a cafe mocha! One of my favourite things to do when visiting a new place is to try a local coffee shop! Visiting Barrie with my boyfriend this weekend, we wanted to find a place to grab some deliciously sweet lattes before going for a stroll at the arboretum. We decided to stop into the Lazy Tulip Cafe. The cafe itself was cozy and had a nice little patio out front but we were just looking for coffees to go. We asked for suggestions from the barista and mentioned that we were looking for something sweet. She offered a multitude of suggestions and I decided to keep it simple with a cafe mocha while my boyfriend chose a maple latte. We also ordered a quick snack for breakfast before our walk. We grabbed a pecan tart and a cheese and spinach muffin (toasted with butter). While a bit on the expensive side ($16 for two lattes and two pastries) service was great and we were in and out. The pecan tart was really tasty but the cheese and spinach muffin was quite dense and not overly satisfying. We gave it a shot as it was our first time trying a savoury muffin. Unfortunately, the real miss was the coffee. The maple latte was rather bland and unexceptional and my cafe mocha was incredibly bitter and tasted like pure unsweetened cocoa powder. This was a disappointment as we had mentioned our preference for sweet drinks to the barista. It was undrinkable and I ended up tossing it out. I'm not sure if it was just an off-day at this cafe, as it has noticeably high yelp reviews, or if we simply made poor choices when ordering. Either way, I'm unlikely to return to this cafe for another try. -Ashley Marie read more

Hubby and I have been here several times and we love it. My favourite dish is the huevos rancheros. So flipping good! I'm not a huge coffee drinker but I usually down a few cups here and I make sure to take a Buddha tart with me on the way out. Love this cozy breakfast/lunch spot. If you haven't discovered this gem yet, get thee there post haste! read more

Finding restaurants that serve real, made-in-house, healthy vegan food is not always easy. Thanks to Yelp, I found Lazy Tulip Cafe. This was my second visit, and I'll most definitely be back. I really enjoyed the Kale Lentil soup - it was hearty and delicious (maybe could have used a pinch of salt, but then again, I could have easily added it myself.) And I also had what was supposed to be a Mediterranean sandwich, but as a grilled wrap, and it was super yummy as well. As I was paying up, I picked up a packaged vegan nanaimo bar at the checkout... that was a mistake. Although I love the Toronto company that supplies them, this was the first time I'd tried this particular treat and it basically crumbled all over my car... anyway, this shouldn't be a reflection on the cafe, as they didn't make it. Overall, I really enjoyed the visit and the food was both delicious and reasonably priced ($16 for everything.) read more

Best quick and simple bite to eat in Barrie. Not too pricy. Had a Thai tofu wrap with peanut sauce, which comes with a side salad. Wrap was yay tasty with crunchy fresh veg and sprouts. Peanut sauce had pleasant zest. The side salad had just the right amount of dressing, allowing the lettuces, sprouts, and seeds to find their taste. Great vibe, too! read more

Such a cute cafe. The food is fresh and delicious and the coffee is amazing! Even the gluten free bread is good! Definitely recommend.

if i could put half a star i would, service was nonexistent, staff seemed disorganized. food was nothing special, as i was seating in the front i noticed that most hot food items were just reheated up in microwaved. coffee was again nothing special. not sure how this place has such a high rating. i don't recommend this establishment. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this place after hearing many good things about it . It's got an amazing atmosphere. Cool art work on the walls, interesting furniture, etc. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is a tad expensive however you do get a lot . We split a chicken sandwich and each had iced tea. The iced tea was really bland at first but it's a really good palette cleanser. Wish we had got some dessert. Totally would go back just the food is quite expensive. read more

Incredible find in Barrie. The whole breakfast menu sounded delicious it was hard to choose ! Amazing espresso and even better vegan deserts ! Almost all menu items can be made vegan and/ or gluten free ! I had the breakfast quinoa bowl served with a creamy tahini dressing ! For desert a vegan chocolate zucchini muffin and mini cinnamon apple donut which was better than any donut I've ever had at Tim Hortons. Cool staff and awesome interior decor! Right by the water too ! Definitely worth a stop here. Can't wait to try more off of the Lazy Tulip's menu! read more

I don't recall what I ate for my brunch last time I was there, but that's not important. If it was bad, I'm sure I'd remember. The important thing here are the baked goods. Those I remember and they are great! Cookie, brownie, muffin. They're all great! read more

Discovered this on Yelp and when I mentioned it at work it was well known. Went there with my, wife, daughter and her boyfriend on Saturday for lunch.
