A lot going on at this small airport. This was my first time at Tweed and you can see all of it…read morefrom the residential streets near by. Pulling into departures is easy, you can hop right out and be in the security lines which move at a decent pace. I also flew Avelo for the first time and I'm not a fan. We had about an hour delay with no communication except a sudden gate change. I'm not sure if people forget that humans are animals, I don't because they ALWAYS show it. The gate change resulted in people running which is crazy because you can see all the gates from one damn viewpoint. The gate change resulted in chaos boarding and having to stand outside in the wind and rain despite priority boarding. The flight attendant were great and accommodating! I brought my seatbelt extender just in case and unfortunately Avelo uses a different kind. They were able to accommodate me quickly. The airport is convenient I think but I'd imagine can be stressful if you're moving on a tight schedule.

The last time I flew from here, I was in disbelief at how rude the man checking ID's & boarding…read morepasses was. I didn't leave a review or complain as much as I wanted to, as I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe he was having an especially rough day. I am here to fly again several months later, and it's the same man. Not only does he refuse to speak to you, he expects everyone to know exactly what to do and in what order and is annoyed if you don't do it fast enough. I always make a point to say hello, and please and thank you and he has never acknowledged me or spoken a word to me at all. I understand it's a repetitive job, and people are probably super annoying all day. But the bare minimum of speaking one single word would make all the difference. Overall, this airport is very tiny and crowded and uncomfortable while waiting at your gate. I'm not a fan.

This is the local metro north station for New Haven. It is the end of the line where mostly…read moreeveryone gets off. It was my first time so I followed the large crowds. There is an interesting underground path that takes you to the main station. It is a very small station compared to others in New York City or Philly. There was a small gift shop and a Dunkin Donuts which had a large line. Outside there was a crowd of people waiting for an Uber or the local bus to downtown. It cost about $20 each way from the city. It was only my first time in New Haven so I didn't know what to compare it to. It was a cloudy rainy day so everyone seemed miserable. I would have to come back here on a sunny day to see if there is a difference.

I took Amtrak from New Rochelle NY to New Haven Connecticut. I initially chose the State Street…read morestation in New Haven, but soon realized Union is less than a mile from State Street and it's not only much more convenient to get off at Union, but Union is a much nicer landing place. Union also offers more options when choosing routes. It should also be noted that on some Amtrak routes, State Street is the final destination, so the train has to turn around and change direction, therefore debarking the train will take longer if you get off at State Street. State Street is a functional, clean station, but there is no inside seating, vending machines, etc. Union is much larger, with inside seating, not too crowded, lots of attendants to help out. Vending machines aren't super well stocked, but they exist. The bathrooms are pretty clean and no lines when I was there. Food is limited--a news stand, a S'barro. I didn't have any food, but stopped by for a cold Diet Coke and the staff were very nice. Escalators work, elevators work, signage is very clear and consistent, floors pretty clean. I have been spoiled by Moynihan in NYC, and the Philly lounge and the Chicago lounge. But the more I've traveled by train, the more I realize those stations are outliers. I visited Baltimore's station several days ago and it was in utter disrepair. Gave me a new appreciation for a pretty "nice" station. Union (why are they all named Union?!) is a pretty nice station.
