This company is completely incompetent. Unfortunately they own many garages in New Haven, one of which is the only garage anywhere near my apartment building so I've used it for years (it's only minimally better than parking on the street in high-crime downtown New Haven). God help you if you ever accidentally leave your key card in your car as the garage is fully locked except business hours. There's a "call for emergencies" button just outside the locked door but nobody answers it. I locked my key card in my car yesterday and after hitting that button and letting it ring for 20 min I finally called the main office number (9 am on a Saturday). The guy that answered had the unfortunate qualities of being both very rude and incredibly stupid. I explained the situation and he repeatedly, rudely, told me I had to use the call box by the door. I told him repeatedly that I was calling the number because nobody was answering the call box - you could hear it ringing in the background of our call too as it's rather loud. I don't know if he was drunk, high, hungover or just extremely stupid, but he kept repeated "LISTEN! you have to hang up your phone and use the call box." Dude, that's why I was calling the main office number, because nobody's answering! After nearly 40 min someone finally used the garage and I was able to enter and access my car. This is the third or fourth time it's happened over the years, same result each time. Park anywhere but Laz if you're able. read more

As we all know we are in a pandemic And most businesses are going the extra mile to work with customers to find resolutions to issues that are beneficial to both parties, but not this parking garage. I paid for a spot and then found out I was exposed to COVID-19 so I got tested and was awaiting results. My results were delayed and therefore I didn't go into work this not using the space. I emailed customer service to see if I could even get a partial refund. Not only did I not get a response when I called I was told I should have read terms and conditions. Talk about unprofessional and rude. Now that I am confirmed COVID free, I park at Air Rights. It might be two dollars more a day but thats worth it for better customer serivce. read more

We parked there yesterday for about 3 1/2 hours and it was quite fine; it's very conveniently located for visiting the two Yale University museums and the shops & restaurants in that neighborhood. The garage is a good size, although it was nearly full by the time we arrived (in mid-morning on a weekday). It's well-maintained & clean, the cost was very reasonable (there's a maximum of $10/day & we paid $8 because it was less than four hours) and the guy at the ticket booth was friendly. read more

My wife recently delivered our first child at Yale New Haven Hospital after 3 nights of labor. I valet parked the car with LAZ Parking on a Monday night. When LAZ delivered it to us Thursday morning, the tire was partially deflated because of a screw having been run over and being stuck in the tread. A classic denial of liability ensued, with the guy in charge of the desk claiming that he could do nothing without his manager, whom he called to come over from the lot, an entire block away. When his manager, Mr Thomas Kolesar (see the other negative comments, above) had not shown up after 20 minutes, I called Mr Kenny Gallagher, LAZ's head of New Haven operations. Mr Kolesar promptly showed up, said "you know this is not our fault; your car came in with this screw and we sweep our lot every day." When I pointed out to him that his admission that they regularly sweep the lot meant this must be a recurring problem and made it more likely the damage was caused by LAZ, he continued his denial. I then pointed out that the car had been in his possession for three days and if I had run over it on Monday, it would have been completely flat. Same denial. He gave me his card, took my number, and said he would call me the following day. With a wife in extreme discomfort and a newborn baby, I was in no position to wait. Needless to say, no one has called me 3 days later. A hospital parking facility is not like a mall parking lot; there are patients, many of whom are sick or worse and whose families are tending to them. I find it extremely disappointing that Yale New Haven has decided to contract with a company, LAZ, that simply doesn't care about its customers. I would have loved to have reported that LAZ followed up, that it took care of the tire or helped us get home safely. Alas, none of this happened. read more

I used LAZ Parking services while my wife and I were going to a pre-op appointment as we were expecting to deliver a baby the next day. I checked my car in valet, finished my appointment, got my car back and went home. At home I noticed a huge scrape/dent on my rear bumper that was not there. I immediately went back to Yale and filed a complaint/claim with LAZ Parking. The person that took my car originally said "I know for a fact that there wasn't any damage to your car when I took it". After completing the paperwork I was told by the manager that I would get a call from the claims department within 2-3 days. 5 days later, I have called the claims department several times, left voice messages, called customer service and can't get anyone on the phone. I called back the Yale location and a manager said my claim was denied because the damages were pre-existing. I asked for the photos of before I dropped off my car, but no one seem to be able to produce them. Then I called Yale New Haven Hospital complaint line and all they did was transfer me back to valet. This has been such an annoyance. I would not recommend their services at all. You get these young guys anxious to take off in your car and drive foolishly because your car is nice. Now I have to report a claim to my insurance because this dispicable company won't take accountability for their employees actions. Lastly, after consulting others, I found out that its not unusual for LAZ Parking employees to take your car joy riding around all of New Haven. I will never use this parking garage again, and I suggest you don't either. I parked at about 6pm for what I anticipated to be a late night (about 2am). Not to worry, this parking garage has rates for all different times, and an overnight phone number to call for additional assistance. Great. Ended up wrapping up my night a little later than expected, about 3am, only to walk back to the garage to find it LOCKED DOWN with gates in front of all entrances and exits. First of all, why would you post rates for people who enter the garage from 6pm-7am if you're closed during part of those hours? But not to worry, because of the overnight number, right? WRONG. I was in a group of four people and all together we called at least 20 times for the number to just endlessly ring at us. We even called Yale Public Safety and the New Haven Police, who also tried calling the number for us, and they were not able to reach anyone either. Luckily I was with friends who live in the area, and we decided to uber back to their place and I would get my car in the morning. We happened to walk into the hotel The Graduate across the street to keep warm and the lovely man at the front desk was actually able to open the garage for us and let me out. I would give him and that hotel five stars. This place? I'd give zero stars if you let me. read more

Thomas Kolesar is a horrible manager. This guy who works for him, Tyler, almost ran over my daughter one of the employees at Yale Smilow and this Thomas Kolesar, the supposed manager of LAZ parking vendor, said that it was "my fault for dropping her off there." People are allowed to drop off there. This guy Tyler almost hit my daughter/ran over her and almost backed into my car and then this Thomas Kolesar said to me, "That's not what happened" and he was yelling at me. I will never understand how this is my fault when this Tyler guy backed up and almost hit my daughter, hit my car and yelled at me?! Is this who Yale Smilow Cancer Center wants parking their cars? This guy Thomas Kolesar said "the only thing wrong was I can't stop there and let my daughter out?" What about Tyler cursing and screaming at me, "what the hell do you think I'm doing?" And he verbally abused my daughter too who actually said nothing to him. read more
