Some of my friends and I decided to checkout this course for the round. It was a beautiful day to golf. Mid 70s with slight breeze. The course was in a great condition. Checkin process was smooth. Morning tee time cost me $83 plus $7 for small bucket. They have a small range with mats to hit off of. One of the best things about this course is that they let you ride the cart to your car. So leave your bag in the car if you decide to ride and pick it up after check in. The club house has a the usual stuff, nothing fancy about it. Restaurant is decent as well with burgers, hot dogs and variety of snacks and sports drinks. Some alcohol selection as well. The course itself is not difficult from the white tees. I almost drove the green on a couple of par 4s from the white tee. Fairways and bunkers are well maintained. We had a good time on the course. Highly recommend it. read more

Played LGC on 8/9/25 with the 7:17am tee time with friends. Very pleased with current course condition, greens were very clean/smooth, fw in decent shape as well as tee boxes. Shot 84, but still lost to Ethan but still a great time nonetheless. Will return again in 2026. Price for walking with small bucket range balls was $70. read more

This a very nice public course that doesn't have to many hazards and fairly wide fairways. They are very good about keeping pace of place. They have a decent driving range and putting/chipping greens. The greens are challenging. A very enjoyable 18. Kind of mean ending with a long par 5 for 18. Worth the drive. read more

Really solid track that is in fantastic shape at the time of this review. Short course with mostly easy holes and some tough ones thrown in too. Three par 5s that are all reachable, a good set of par 4s (some are almost driveable), and a good mix of par 3s. Great course for a scramble or for gaining some confidence. I also love how walkable this track is. The practice area is great. A nicely sloped putting green with a couple of those extra small holes to practice short putts. There is a separate chipping green. And the driving range is nice and big. Some of the mats are on a downslope and one mat has a half downslope/half flat lie. It was interesting to use. Best part of this golf course is the crew working here. They are always friendly and always hoping to help you enjoy your day. read more

Unreal value--the course is in great shape, plays a little short but it's very "player friendly" and open. 10x better than East Potomac for 10% less if you can make the 30 mile trip. Plus Clubhouse has AMAZING food and HH deals 3pm-close every day. Have to tip my hat to the folks at Laytonsville Golf Course. read more

The golf course is in excellent shape. The greens are smooth and well-maintained. Fairways are fast, and the rough isn't punitive. Well worth the money, especially compared to the poor shape that another County course - Little Bennett - is in. The course often has "member for a day"specials that include breakfast, lunch, and range balls. A great deal. This is a short (6300yards from the back tees) uncomplicated layout. Nothing fancy. But for a quick 18, it's a great place to play. read more

I really like this course. For a public municipal course, it's kept really well. The holes are somewhat short (300 yard par 4's, 460 yard par 5's) and fairly easy. So just think - if I need confidence in my game, then I should just come here. A few holes have pretty narrow fairways, but most of the holes a pretty forgiving. It's kind of far from..... civilization. But I would definitely come here again. read more

Nice course with a simple, straightforward layout. Not much in terms of elevation changes but not really flat either. Certainly, the easiest of the Montgomery County Golf (MCG) courses. Staff were pleasant and it has nice facilities. Not the best MCG course but one that I will return to. read more

BETTER PLAYERS - please read this review! There is no way this course should get as many stars as PB Dye, much less Little Bennett. I like Laytonsville but I rank golf courses relative to each other and I can't give it more than 1.5 stars. 5 stars is for Congressional and Columbia, 4.5 for Four Streams and Chevy Chase; 4 stars likes of Bethesda CC, Woodmont, Whiskey Creek, Worthington Manor, PB Dye. Even Little Bennett, which is much stronger and nicer than this course and I love it, only gets 3 relative to the other courses. Laytonsville is a muni that is generally in good shape (I've played it for over 15 years) but the holes lack for a lot of excitement and many feel similar. Like Needwood and Rattlewood, this course can be a great confidence booster and help lower your handicap, but I find those courses more interesting. I do like that Laytonsville is very walkable and the staff is very nice. I like the course and would not hesitate to play it, but I also wouldn't seek it out. read more

This is a solid public course in Mont County. I would say it is better than average in comparison to others in the county. The par 3s are fairly easy and the par 5s can be achievable and also encourage some risk. There is a nice hole in the back 9 that you have to hit the ball over a small lake but it can be risky depending on how much land you are trying to cover. The staff is good as well and are prompt in service. This is one of my local courses since I started golfing and would recommend it to others. The fees are affordable at around $20-25 during twilight hours and in the summers , with late sunsets, you might be able to get almost the whole course in depending on if there are people in front of you. moco people look around you - this is a great course , very well maintained as is the other moco courses. staff great _ food great - course conditions great - price is very good compared to the other non moco courses - some people call it short but it is challenging- there are slow days - (sunday) back 9 , our 18 hole round usually take 3 to 4 hours - the staff works hard for the golfers. moco's gem course. read more

$36 for 18 holes, lunch, a bucket of balls for the driving range and golf carts is not a bad deal and that's what I did Friday morning. I guess they need a lot of incentive for people to drive all the way up to Laytonsville. Based on other public golf courses in the area it's on the easier end, but it's still a par 71 with some water and lots of tall grass to lose your ball in. It's a good golf course for beginners, but there's still some challenges for the better players. read more

Played here with my wife. We loved it. What a beautiful and forgiving public course. We are mediocre golfers but loved it here. Some amazing views and nice challenging holes as well as some that are manageable for duffers who don't know much about the game. A bad day playing golf is better than a good day at work... unless you're a golfer. read more

Played here on June 25 with a tee time at 6:55 a.m. Were allowed to tee off a little ahead of time, and finished in about 4 hours. Great course to play if you're pressed for time as we were. Fairways and greens were well-maintained, and course was in good shape. read more

This course is an average public course. First of all the other reviews are accurate that it's not on the same level as congressional. However for $29 it is a good course for weekend golfers that need open fairways and a full 18 holes for variety. The day I went the greens where being aerated which really was disappointing. read more

This course makes you feel good about your game. Short holes, wide open fairways and rather easy greens. Driving range and practice greens are nice too. Staff has been friendly every time I have gone there. They even comped me a bucket of balls when I took my daughter to the driving range. By far my favorite public course in MoCo. read more
