Brought my brand new toro lawn mower in this morning concerning an inability to start one pull start as guaranteed. It also runs rough when it does start. It is less than a year old so obviously covered under warranty. After arriving and describing the issue, the technician informs me that Toro doesn't want you using gas older than 30 days. He then asks several questions concerning gas and finally starts to enter my information in their system. After collecting a $50 deposit "for the technician" that is non-refundable. Not sure why you need this, for a warranty repair, or for any repair in general. What kind of business needs payment before they do work, the ones that intend to cheat you. The technician then without looking at it at all, states that it's a fuel problem and not covered under warranty. I attempted to get clarification as to how this is a fuel problem, and how they know this is a fuel problem with out even looking at it. While becoming frustrated (not loud or obnoxious) with the response from the technician which was not an answer just a restatement of the original fuel problem. The "owner" Ray got up from his desk and told me to go else where. He didn't explain the warranty policy, or fuel policy or attempt to resolve the issue just demanded I leave the store. read more

Good first impression. Ray was very helpful in explaining and answering my questions. Hopefully by the beginning of next year, the shop will have more inventory for me to test out. I wonder if Lawn Power Pros will also carry other electric power focus brand such as Ego Power and Ryobi. Without the gracious folks at Lawn And Leisure Power in Sterling,VA I would not have had this incredible Honda Snowblower to help me get out during the brutal snow storm we had a couple months ago! I am a Disabled Veteran that due to my injuries cannot physically shovel snow. Therefore, it's only because of this excellent item I purchased from them - with a gracious Military Discount as well - which is always a PRIVILEDGE & NOT A RIGHT - that folks like Ray Benabye were so kind enough to offer me during the time when snow buries us inside our homes ! What a ripoff. I took an almost new Poulan chansaw to Lawn Power Pros. It was practically new but would die if not revived. I left the saw after paying the charge for a tune up. I was then told a month later that it needed a new carburetor with an estimated charge of $184. What a ripoff. I told them no thanks I would pick it up. Imagine my surprise when they handed me a case of parts. Save your money. These guys are a fraud. read more

Watch out for these shysters at Lawn & Leisure. I recently took my snow blower in for repair work (carburetor) and was charged $40 for a consultation and then quoted $250 for the repair... that would be close to $300 for repairs to a $370 Toro. I opted not to invest in that, but after the last storm, I decided to get a second estimate. I took the same snow blower to Sterling Mower on Shaw road. For less than $82, Sterling Mower did the same work and the Toro runs great now!! And it was done in 3 days. Oh and this is not the first time.... two years ago I took a mower in for repair and had a similar situation at Lawn & Leisure. My advice - do not use Lawn and Leisure for equipment sales or repairs and instead do go to Sterling Mower. read more

Have purchased multiple pieces of equipment from them over the years (lawn mower, backpack blower, snowblower, etc) and had been happy. However, last year snowblower died during snowstorm. Took in for maintenance (belt replacement) and then last week it failed two different ways during the most recent snowstorm; one of which was *not* correctable. Not happy that the first time out after a major repair the equipment to fail again. Apparently they are under new management and I am not impressed. Will likely take my future business elsewhere. read more

Needed a new grill. Made the rounds of all the home centers department stores. None had the two burner Weber grill l wanted in stock. All offered to order it for me, but I'm not that patient. Found Lawn & Liesure in Sterling, VA. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff and they had the grill in stock. Did I pay a premium for this experience? No. The prices for Weber grills are the same everywhere. Open on Sunday and they fill LP tanks, too. read more

I am really disappointed that the management chose to charge me $50.00 for a part that had been recalled and replaced and then was ultimately defective again. I buy (bought) all of my power equipment from these folks and expected better treatment. The expectation was based on purchasing expensive, name brand equipment (Stihl) from what I thought was a neighborhood business, that I wanted to support. No more. This was a real turnoff. After 13 years it was time to replace my 2003 Ariens snow blower. After a significant amount of research, I chose a 32 inch Ariens HydroPro snowblower. The decision where to purchase the machine was much easier. My previous experience with Lawn and Leisure in Sterling had been excellent and I ordered the machine with confidence from them. The cost was very reasonable and it arrived exactly when they said it would. The set up and delivery was exceptional. The delivery person was well versed on the machine and provided an excellent tutorial on its operation. I have had the pleasure of using this machine several times this winter and it performs exactly as I had expected. Best machine, best supplier and best price ... cannot beat that. I would highly recommend Lawn and Leisure and Ariens. read more

I took our new Honda generator in for repair, starter would not work. I had just bought it in December to use for a small business. I bought a brand new one so there would be no issues. Started using it on March 24th and within a month it was not working. I spent 3k for this??? Took it in on Friday the 25th and was told 5 days waiting period, then waited and on 8th day (Saturday) still no call, nothing done. Was told it would be 2 weeks. I explained that I was out of business until it was repaired. Got a call later that day, it was ready. They claim that there was nothing wrong but a battery tenderizer wire was the problem. They have horrible customer service. read more

Our Honda lawn mower stopped working, so I took it for repair to Lawn and Leisure Power. On drop-off and pick-up I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and I felt immediately that I could trust these guys. They helped take the mower out of my car, and load it once the repair was complete. Richard, the Parts and Service Manager is very conscientious about customer service and goes out of his way to make every customer feel valued. Would certainly recommend this place! read more

If there was a negative star you would have 5. We purchased a snowblower with cash and paid an extra $50 to have it assembled for a grand total of $956. We planned to pick it up the next day. We arrived to find they SOLD it to someone else! Way to go! NOT happy and WILL never do business with you again and also, let it be known that I posted this on our BRAMBLETON blog which 10,000 + people read! Way to win business! read more

I purchased a trimmer that wasn't user friendly and I couldn't start it. After second trip back to the store, the manager exchanged the trimmer for a better model that's working just fine. 5 star rating because he agreed to exchange it 5 days after their return and exchange policy. read more

Need a new lawnmower so went to L&L. Few shoppers in the store but also no sales people. After about a 10 minute wait, a salesman appeared and asked if we needed help. Said we were looking for a Honda or Toro and could he explain the products; he was barely helpful. There was a Honda model we were interested in. The Honda factory price is $419 minus a $20 discount for $399 net and Home Depot is also priced the same. L&L was priced at $479 and the salesman said they could go down only to $419 even though other local vendors were cheaper. He become confrontational, told us how Home Deport had $88 billion in sales, was 66,000 times larger than L&L (we'll have to trust his math), their people didn't know anything about lawnmowers and that the extra $20 was pretty important to Lawn & Leisure. For a $20 price difference, feeble sales effort and bad attitude, L&L lost a sale on a product we were ready to purchase on the spot and take home. Not the first time we've had this kind of experience there. If you want above average prices and a rotten buying experience, Lawn and Leisure can definitely help you out. read more
