Alicia the owner(with her husband) is the most amazing nail technician I have ever been to. and that saying a lot I've been getting my nails done for 25 years. Her knowledge of products and what works best is amazing. I have never left her salon not liking my nails. I get gel X and a pedicure every three weeks and every picture that I bring in, she's completely honest in her ability or what product she has so that I do not leave unhappy. I always come here because it's the best value. The older techs do a fabulous job . Recently I got a younger tech who gave me my first SnS manicure . She's done my pedicure before and was so amazing so I thought she'd do great on my nails as well. This last visit was a disappointment . This is the length of my real nails but it totally looks like I have acrylic nails on . Not what I was going for as my friend who had hers done looked totally natural. The check in special is just for Tuesday's. Although it reads like it'll be good any day of the week; the fine print tells of all their specials throughout week. I solely came to get this deal (before the holiday) but I don't mind because of the convenience and also it being empty aside from two customers leaving. Savannah did a good a job shaping my toes and I'd go back for another pedicure. My manicure dragged (but I feel it's because it was empty) and my gel polish was rushed by Alysha (sp) BUT effectively applied. Update: I'm just leaving after asking to have my acrylic SOAKED off and it was DRILLED after soaking for 5 mins! I didn't go back to Alysha specifically for the last reason but I should have because this time I got some one who had been working just two weeks and my nails look and feel so bad. I have three different shapes on one hand alone. He asked me how I liked them I told him I didn't and he, of course, blamed my nails for it looking bad (is this just at Asian salons where the tech always blames the customer? I've experienced it more than once when I correct ANYTHING in regards to my service) I told him he will get better. One year later and the check in special still isn't corrected. Alicia, the owner, is the main nail tech. Her husband is also a tech, though not at all as skilled. Other techs have come and gone love the year and a half that I have patronized this establishment... including mani/pedi techs. Prices are never consistent. Alicia charges what she desires on that day and time. The services are costly. Alicia is very much into nail design. Overtime i've learned that she does not give great effort or attention to a clients simply desiring a pristine shape and basic gel polish. I appreciate Alicia's ability to seal acrylic at the cuticle. This is the only reason that I have been a returning customer. When the majority of nail techs service me, my acrylic lifts within days. Alicia's skill/method prevents lifting. However, my nails are never awesome. They are always mediocre in shape, polish application, etc. Recently, I patronized Lavish Nails & Spa for a fill and pedi. It was either a Wednesday or Thursday... Totally Empty initially. I was first serviced by my usual pedi guy. I then went to Alicia's chair for my acrylic fill-in. Customers, without appointments, began to come in back to back. I could feel and see the rush job being done on my nails. She was asking the other customers questions, and making suggestions for them while doing my nails instead of focusing and finishing. My nails turned out terrible. A waste of money and more so a waste of my time. My nails looked nothing like the picture that I showed Alicia several times. The shape was non existent. The nails were bulky. All was bad. Then not to mention, I examined my toes when I reached my vehicle, and my pedicure was beyond terrible too! Absolutely horrible. First off, SNS nails are very expensive so I expect them to be done right. It was my first time to this nail salon. I felt I was treated unfairly because I wasn't a "regular". Henry did my pedicure and SNS. Ashley appeared to be training him through my SNS. He dipped my nails & then barely filed them at all. I even went to Ashley and said I had never had my nails done that way and was worried they would not last. She assured me they were okay. Well here I am after only one week and they are breaking, peeling and lifting. After paying over $100 AND tipping 20% (giving them the benefit of doubt), I'm disappointed and angry. I wish I could give a zero star review. I thought I loved my nails. I am new to the area and I rely on yelp for finding good establishments. I paid 55$ before tip for a full set of acrylic nails. I got them done April 20th. I lost one nail after only five days. Today is April 29th and I have lost four nails total. THAY HAVEN'T EVEN GROWN ENOUGH FOR A FILL IN. THIS SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING. Let me start by saying Alysha has been quite particular about the staff she's hired. Each and every one from her & her husband to the rest of the staff were so kind, conversational and extremely accommodating. There is a 23 year old young man that works there and though I can't recall his name, he was an absolute sweetheart. I love him!!! I found them on Yelp when I was at my hair salon, Lucy's, and decided to start making my hair and nail appts on the same day to get them knocked out together. I made an appt for 2pm and not being aware of how bad the traffic was when I headed here, I ended up being an hour late. I was still accommodated and even though Alysha was super booked/busy, she still worked me in and was so nice about it. Let me tell you, this diva is a freaking nail superstar!! I saw her flawlessly execute 6 people's nails prior to me getting in her chair within a 90 minute window. I have never seen someone do your nails so FAST without sacrificing QUALITY. She can do anything you imagine on your nails, with very little effort. I know this sounds corny but I was literally at the point of tears watching her work because she is an artist. I have also developed an allergy to acrylic over the years so I have been stuck doing SNS nails for quite sometime or I suffer from horrible cuticle swelling, itching and cracking. Alysha assured me that if I did gel nails and gel polish, that I would not have the reaction. I was scared but after a bit of contemplating, I decided to give it a try. I got a gel polish manicure $30 here and it never chipped and would have probably lasted more than two weeks except that my nail growing made it obvious it was time to get a polish change. This is amazing because other places my nails chip or peel, likely because they used powder in other salons and this time no powder, just gel polish. I am placing my number of stars because I find it very rude that the two techs in the salon to speak a different language in front of customers when they also speak English with no accent, aka the second language does not make it easier for them to communicate. I am also bilingual but do not do this when I am at work because it makes others feel as if you are talking about them. In the service industry, small things like this are key. read more

If i could rate this place a ZERO i would. I walked in on may 2. Today is may 7 and 3 of my nails are CRACKED, missing pieces and/or chipped. I always get SNS. I usually go to a spot on chastain but since I was in the area, i figured let me just go here. I walked in.. EMPTY. I was the only customer there. The manager was there along with 3-4 other techs that kept walking in and out the back room. The manager assigned a guy to me, who soaked my previous SNS nails for 45 min because "he did not want to work on scrubbing my nails" . Then he began putting the new SNS on, and it looked like you melted chalk on my nails. I guess the technician was new because the other techs kept coming over to check on him. Its been an hour and half and he still wasnt done with my first hand. I asked him if he could get some help or if I could have someone else a little faster since I had to go.. he told me they were all busy. I looked over and they were watching an alien movie on the tv , sitting in the pedicure chairs. A few minutes go by and I asked again.. he didnt even answer me or make an effort to call anyone. He rushed thru, and told me since I was in a rush, he was only going to do 2 coats of SNS , without the base or top coat, since I didnt have time.. I paid $50 and left the nail salon upset, thinking I'll never come back here again and i'll wait til they grow out before I go to my usual place. Here I am, 5 days later back to my usual place to get a fresh set of SNS for $33 with great customer service. If you are un-happy with this place, i recommend you go to Allure Nails on Chastain. read more
