I use to love this place it was awhile since I got my hair cut professionally. I was recommend to see Jackie, from whoever answered the phone now I told them both my concerns I have very long hair and I don't want it chopped, oh Jackie is fantastic well let's just say Jackie is absolutely NOT fantastic my beautiful long hair is chopped! My bottom layer is shorter than anything else, I showed her the photo reference which was just a trim and long layers my hair was down to my ass but it doesn't even reach my bra. So unless you want to cry and look for another salon to put extensions in find a different salon I am beyond upset read more

My stylist was Jackie. I showed her a picture from Pinterest for color and cut. She was very caring and concerned wanting to be sure she understood exactly what I wanted. I left there very happy! Ok, so I really wish that I could give this place 5 stars, seeing as how I used to LOVE IT!! But with my recent experiences, I'm super disappointed. Beautiful little boutique, and Most of the stylists are friendly, professional and very welcoming! Marina's a doll! And Dani was so nice. But my last stylist, however, not so much.....! I clearly had nothing in common with this young girl. I'm a mother of 2, and when I talked about my kids she looked as if she wanted to jump out of the window. So after that I just decided not to talk at all and enjoy the quiet time. Though It did make me uncomfortable hearing her chat up all her other clients while I was sitting at the shampoo sink for 30/45 minutes waiting for someone else to wash my hair. Then not getting an apology or a word from her when I got back in the chair was slightly annoying. I could just sense that she was tired of my hair, she refused to book more than 3 hour appointments even though she knew how thick my hair was and that we needed more time to accomplish what I wanted. And I'm a 30% tipper, so I don't know what her problem was! My happy thoughts and excitement of this place changed after receiving a snippy, passive aggressive text message with a stupid smiley face basically telling me she did a flawless job on my hair (which she did not, the balayage was sloppy where she thought I wouldn't see it) and to book with a different stylist next time. All because I asked why there was 100$ difference between my last appointment and then. I'm a very easy going person, and a good tipper, I didn't even care that it was 100$ more, I paid it no problem. I was just curious being that she told me it would literally be the same exact process as the last appointment. Seems like a logical question, no? I'm a single mother with a newborn baby, full time student, and don't have the mental capacity to deal with anyone else's nasty attitude, ESPECIALLY when I'm spending hundreds of dollars to be there, sit in that chair and am supposed to enjoy that time. I'm extremely disappointed in this place now, and my experience there. I have spent about $2,000 in total and ALWAYS referred people to go here, And it's sad to say that I will never go back. Hopefully they pay more attention to stylist/client interaction. Because I would never let a paying customer be treated the way that I was! And I'll never step foot in there again. one word: FABULOUS From the amazing talent (I'm Alexis' client) that cuts and color/highlight/moisturize/straighten/tone your hair to the high end product line and unique handbags and terrific buttery soft clothing/lounge pieces, it makes it an experience each time you go in for your hair appointment. One another note- they have an INCREDIBLE microblading artist that gave me perfect eyebrows!!!!!! I love it- well worth 600$ and then you need a touch-up about once/year. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I went to visit Kathryn to get eyelash extensions. Online it say $200. That was expensive, but I figured I was getting the best. I've had my lashes done a couple years ago so I knew what to expect. First red flag, I was only there for only 45 minutes. When she showed me my lashes it looked okay in the mirror. I wasn't sure. It didn't seem like a difference. I doubted myself and kind of felt uncomfortable. I figured I would look again when I got to my car. Anyway, I go to check out and pay. I was given a little bag with a brush and lash cleaner. I figured it came with the service since I never said I wanted that. When I get to my car, I look again and my lashes didn't look any different. My mascara made my lashes look better. I was very unhappy. Later that day, I texted Kathryn back and told her I was unhappy. The more I thought about it the more upset I became. 1. She didn't ask me what type I wanted, classic, hybrid, volume, etc. 2. I checked the price and it was $270!!!! What?!?!?! My $32 mascara looked better!! Kathryn told me to come back in and she could fix for free. When I arrived the next week, Kathryn tried to cancel and said she has a cough but not Covid and asked if I would mind. I told her no I didn't. I JUST WANTED MY LASHES FIXED! I arrive and Kathryn didn't prep me the right way. She was in a hurry. She slapped on the some some thicker extensions with no rhyme or reason. They looked thicker but strange. I felt like I looked like a camel. Then, she tells me that she only has a 1/2 hour. WHOA! I paid $270 and not you're not fixing your poor work?! She rushed me out of there. They looked TERRIBLE! I was embarrassed to walk around looking like I did; especially in my profession. Here's where she inconsistencies come. After she "fixed" them, I get to my car and I get a text saying my appointment was cancelled. I literally just got done with my appointment, it surely couldn't be cancelled after I just got done. Strange. I was soo annoyed at paying $270 and looking like crap. I decided to call the salon. I spoke with the girl at the desk. I realized many things. 1. Kathryn did an inadequate job, snuck me in to "fix" and rushed me out before the owner came in. She didn't want her to know what happened. 2. The $270 was because she MADE me buy lash cleaner and a brush I didn't ask for. They were $45!!!!!!!!!! She's literally just charged me and didn't tell me. 3. I paid $225 for botched lash extensions. 4. While getting my lashes done, Kathryn tried to feed me bull by saying I NEEDED lash serum so my own lashes would stay strong when the extensions and went on. IVE HAD THEM BEFORE! Stop feeding me lies. 5. On the second appt, she kept pressuring me to make an appointment for my daughter and making up many excuses to get MORE money out of my. It was so horrible!!!! 6. When texting Kathryn about return to fix, she was not nice. She was very cold, even when I thanked her many times. She was responding with one word responses. So rude! 7. When I called back to find out why I paid $225, the front desk woman was not helpful or sympathetic. I expressed my concerns with what happened and it fell on deaf ears. I told her to cancel ALL future appointments. (She obviously didn't we the red flags.) Then, instead of trying to fix the situation, she says, "do you want me to reschedule?" OMG! Noooooo I am staying far away as possible from Lavish and never returning. The entire experience was stressful, overpriced and frustrating! They need to adjust their pricing according to the lash artist's experience/work. I would expect more for a high-end salon. I basically wasted $290 (with tip). In conclusion, I went to another lash artist. It was the OPPOSITE of Kathryn at Lavish. They were very professional, we talked about what type I wanted, I was actually there for 2 hours, and they look beautiful! Here's the kicker...IT WAS 1/2 THE PRICE!!!!! This new place didn't tell me lies, no pressure, great job, great experience and very organized. She took pride in making me happy. I'm going back for my fill next week and my lashes still look spectacular! Many compliments! Just be aware of Kathryn at Lavish. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Booked a last minute appointment today for a haircut that I desperately needed. I am really picky with haircuts and have been only cutting an inch or two off when absolutely necessary. I was frustrated with my hair and this time I wanted 6 inches cut off. Marina was very patient with my tangled, unhealthy split ends. She listened to what I wanted in terms of length and getting rid of split ends. My hair hasn't looked this healthy in years! I can't even remember a time that I've been this happy with a haircut. Very cool boutique store located in downtown Scranton. Mostly sells upscale home items and soaps. I get my hair cut here by Mary and she's awesome. Always takes the time to make sure it's cut right and very personable. Highly recommended for men's and women's cuts alike. Guys, don't be turned off by the appearance of the store, it has a good selection of men's skin care products and some manly home items. read more

I was visiting from out of town and desperately needed my highlights refreshed. I found Lavish on Yelp and am so glad I listened to the previous reviews! From the outside, Lavish appears to be a very cute shop full of home goods, accessories, and health and beauty products, but there's also a beautiful salon hiding in the back. Everyone here was so nice and accommodating throughout my entire visit. Dani did such an amazing job on my blonde highlights that I'm convinced she's some sort of a magician. From now on, I'll be looking for excuses to come back to the area just to see Dani again. read more

I have only really gotten salon services there and bought a couple of things at the boutique. I love the housewares they have in the boutique, but sadly they are too expensive for my Scranton income. However, I have gotten my hair done there about 3 times as well as an eyebrow wax. I decided to go in for the big chop and chopped my very long hair into a bob, which turned out to be amazing! I then decided to go a little shorter and had Mary cut my hair. It was literally the best haircut I have ever gotten in my life and months later I am still getting compliments on it. It was like a piece of art! The salon services are very reasonably priced considering the talent of the stylists. I will definitely be going to the salon again. read more

If you are in need of some great products to just take a bath or all around pamper yourself this is the end all location for Scranton. The guys that own it are some of the most helpful business owners you will ever meet. They have a medium level of selection that still remains overwhelming on the first visit. I cannot suggest many products for the female visitor but being a guy who doesn't mind taking care of himself I do have a few suggestions for the men. L'Occitane's Pour Homme collection is amazing. The Cade shaving cream and After Shave Balm are the best products I have ever used, hands down. I also recommend watching some videos on how to shave no matter how old you are. You have been doing it for years but probably not the right way. They also carry The Art of Shaving brand which is another one of my new favorites which has more scents than the cade alone. Prices vary like any other store but you really do pay for quality. Its not dirt cheap but I guarantee you will not be disappointed. read more
