I live on the same street as Thrive and was thrilled to see a clinic built in very close proximity…read more I've seen 4 providers here but have had the best experiences with the following: Dr. Brad Venghaus- I believe he's the founder of this clinic. He's extremely kind, patient, and overall an excellent doctor. I enjoy having him as my PCP. I just wish I didn't have to schedule so far out for an appointment. It's a blessing and a curse, because he's so popular! Mariana Racovita- I recently had an acute visit with Mariana and she was wonderful. Kind, courteous and more importantly thorough. I'd love to continue seeing her as well. The other staff (medical assistants and front desk) have been good for the most part. I've had some off experiences but are willing to look past due to the overall quality care received from Thrive. Shout out to the lab techs though, because they are always wonderful! Thank you!

I was pleasently surprised - it almost made me want to get sick every day! I clearly made the right choice with Makayla and the Staff of Thrive in N Austin, and recommend them highly. Thanks Guys! NORTH AUSTIN- THRIVE MEDICAL CLINIC 2217 Park Bend Drive Suite 210

Incredible doc...Excellent!!…read more Having worked as a Senior Physician Recruiter for many years, my requirements for a physician come from a trained background of what to look for and what to be wary of. I know how to check a background, I know what a thorough exam and appointment is, and I know what rushing a patient through in order to see more patients a day for money means to the patient. Additionally, I can recognize better equipment and practices. I had a great doctor in Dallas (Dr. Bonnet) and I could not find a satisfactory one after moving to Austin that met my scrupulous checks & desire for excellence. At other offices I was rushed through appointments, kept waiting endlessly due to overbooking, or not questioned well during the appointment or answered thoroughly...or not called back when I had a question or needed something or had to get a refill, etc... Dr. Browining is unique & wonderful!! And I thank the above posters who allowed me to finally find him! You are not only never kept waiting for much time at all, he is amazingly smart in discussions, he is so thorough in questions and answers that you feel you are his only patient... He has state-of-the-art equipment. He is caring, thorough, and beyond impressive. I've already recommended him and immediately gotten the response back that he was an incredible doctor who spends a great deal of time to ensure you are cared for. He will not schedule unecessary procedures or cram patients in as so many doctors do when a monetary business becomes a goal over care...yet, like today when I needed an ultrasound, (which is what made me think to write this), he ensures I immediately get the care needed. Care is evident in this office...but that means very little if the physician isn't a brilliant doctor...and I've been beyond impressed in that regard as well. He obviously is one of those doctors with a passion for what he does and for what's current in medical journals. I joined Yelp for one reason alone...I thought I'd be remiss in not giving credit where credit is due. I looked for 3 years for a doctor I liked in Austin. I used to have to drive to Dallas to go to my old doctor because no one else's practice ever measured up. I am, therefore, beyond happy to recommend him to anyone needing an excellent physician in Austin. You'll see a difference in what is the norm and what happens here during your very first vist, without a doubt. -Alana

He immediately addressed the issue in his office rather than referring me to a dermatologist to do the dirty work. I truly did need immediate attention and he gave it to me. I can't speak highly enough of him and his assistant for bravely going where no one should have to go. I hope this does not sound like an exaggeration, but I feel like I owe my life to him. It has only been a day, and I'm still a mess, but I have to express my gratitude to this incredible doctor. I also want to publicly apologize for cursing as he cut into it. I hope your medical emergency gets taken care of by Dr. Browning, or someone as talented and compassionate as he is.

Let me start by saying that I've known some excellent doctors, and have had a couple of…read moreearth-shatteringly bad experiences as well. Dr. Julie Reardon has surpassed my wildest expectations of what a family physician CAN--and is willing--to do. I think that's in part because she is a phenomenal physician and person, and I suppose the Harvard education and work with Dr. Andrew Weil doesn't hurt. I'll add that all of the folks in her office are equally as competent and caring. If you are contemplating a visit to Dr. Reardon, it's because you haven't been feeling as well as you should--probably for quite some time. Your insurance-covered doctor has run some general tests that haven't shown anything all that extraordinary; and while you may greatly respect your PCP as I do, you realize that time and budget constraints limit the ability to which they can explore your issues. You may have been told that it's your impending menopause, or your weight, or that you perhaps should consider antidepressants. This is the state of medicine in our current era of managed care, and it's nobody's fault. Sometimes it just IS. Know that, if you can afford her services, "Dr. Julie" will leave no stone unturned in helping you find that road to recovery. She's not one of those "vanity doctors" who will hand you creams, diets, and vitamins to make you ageless and extra hot...although feeling better usually makes you look better! She's a serious, science-based physician with an uncanny ability to relate the typically unrelated, and see the "big picture" of your health situation. In our initial visit, she caught on to trending issues I'd never thought of before, including a potential genetic makeup that leaves me prone to certain problems with mood and energy level that are exacerbated by stress...and I've had a year of that! She ran a gamut of tests after explaining the purpose of each one, and uncovered a problem so critical it was a wonder I even had the energy to get out of bed in the morning. I am no less impressed with our follow-up discussions. She has referred to another provider for an area outside of her realm, and also recommended simple vitamin and supplement changes that will do me a world of good. At the same time, she's not that earth-crunchy guru that's going to mandate that that you live on purified air and chants...hers are moderate lifestyle changes for real people living in our everyday world. Dr. Julie doesn't take insurance, but that allows her to spend true quality time with the patients who sign on with her. I will say that, for the fees involved, I feel like it's been a very good choice for my healthcare dollars. I am finally getting some solid answers as to why I've felt HORRIBLE over just this last year, and I finally feel confident knowing someone's got my back while I take steps to get better. I think there are a lot of docs out there who dream of having a practice like Dr. Julie's--and she has made that dream a reality. When I think about how quickly Dr. Julie started "cracking the case", and all the co-pays and labs past that never quite addressed my issue, I realize that I have now SAVED time and money in the long run. What's more...I could have gotten REALLY sick were it not for Dr. Julie and her findings. She very well might have saved my future from being...well, not so bright. Thinking about calling for an appointment with Dr. Julie Reardon? I say go for it...you will NOT regret it, and you have everything to gain.

He was there all the way, keeping track, being supportive and not just a doctor that breezes in and out. It's like you're thumbing through some old vinyl, not knowing the era or the genre...just a bit bored and curious. You see one that you have no reason to believe you'll enjoy. You bring out your old turntable....put it on..and...whoa! Dr. Hahn is professional and knowledgeable and is a damn fine Primary Care Physician. He and his staff find time to squeeze me in for my minor emergencies (scratched cornea or needing to spend my flexible spending account dollars in the last week or the year) and attend to my yearly or biannual checkups. Having a staff which makes themselves available is very important. They have an emergency line to call off-hours He tries to understand where I am coming from, both personally and genetically and offers sage direction. He told me that men of my background have a higher risk of heart disease, even though they do not often exhibit signs of obesity. I told him it was because we have smaller diameter arteries in general. He listened. He is definitely a listener, teacher and learner. And he is open. He is my wife's doctor too. When she was pregnant and suffering from hip pains, he prescribed alternate medicines including acupuncture. He didn't quite realize that a quick chiro-adjust was what she needed, but he does have a holistic approach. Which brings me to my next point. He's not god. I think the more mechanical aspects or perhaps some female-specific aspects may be a tad out his realm. That's why you also have specialists. If you're pregnant and have aches and pains, I'd actually recommend going to our midwife, Michelle, first. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/michele-fitzgerald-cpm-austin) But OVERALL, if you're looking for a primary care physician to look after your needs, Dr. Hahn is da man. Just to give you an example of one of my dodgier experiences, pre-Hahn, I recall having to get some blood work prior to marriage per an instruction sheet which originated in puritanical New England, where I was to get married. So, this good 'ole boy Texan doctor read the sheet and noted that he was to have some sort of "discussion about Marriage" with me. This caught us both by surprise. The doctor in question looked at me and said: "Don't screw around on your wife, you probably know the rest". Pretty Crude. Funny, in retrospect, but he just didn't read the moment well. Hahn is a breath of fresh air.

Following this, it was nearly impossible to get a prescription filled by him to the point that in the last two months, my prescriptions were filled by other doctor's (despite significant efforts including calls, online messages in the portal, and online messages on the Victory Medical Klarna messenger ranging from 10 days up to day of). The staff was also deeply unhelpful, letting me know that in order to get my prescription refilled, I should use the online portal, but if I sent in my prescription request earlier than 5 business days, then it would be ignored. If I sent in later than 5 business days, it was also likely to be ignored. And when I did send it in 5 business days, it was still ignored. I have left several online messages, following up each day, in an attempt to just get a response, and in the past few months I have received none. And god forbid you have multiple prescriptions, because Dr. Pekar will maybe fill one prescription and completely ignore the others. They also look to charge your insurance as much as possible. By state law, practices can but are not required to drug test you for controlled prescriptions. Most doctors range somewhere between once to twice a year. Dr. Pekar will force you into doing a drug test EVERY month. So, not only is he an uncaring and lazy doctor, he also wants to take as much money from you and your insurance by pushing needless tests on you as often as possible. In sum, please do NOT see Dr. Pekar if you want quality care.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the unnecessary stress…read more I've been coming to this office for nearly a decade, consistently overlooking long wait times and administrative disorganization because I rarely needed much care. But after years of frustration, it's clear this is a poorly run office that does not prioritize patients and seems focused on upcharging whenever possible. At my last annual visit, they tried to charge me $380 for a routine blood test that should have been fully covered. When I questioned it, I was told to "just pay out of pocket" for $175--with no refund possible--and they refused to even check with my insurance. I called my insurer from the parking lot, who instructed me to go back in, refuse to pay, and get invoiced. I ultimately paid nothing. It felt like a blatant attempt to profit off patient confusion--something other reviews mention, too. More recently, I called with a month-long cough and was told the earliest appointment was two months out. Only after expressing frustration and threatening a review did someone call back with an earlier option. It should never be this difficult to get care when you're sick. Healthcare is already stressful--this office makes it worse. While Amy has been a kind and competent provider over the years, the management is unacceptable. I regret staying as long as I did and hope this helps others avoid the same mistake.
